Larson, Larsen are Saturday winners at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (June 3, 2023) – They’re the seventh- and 54th-most common surnames in Minnesota but Larson or Larsen, however you spell it, was the most popular name in victory lane Saturday night at Arlington Raceway. Eric Larson was the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod winner and Josh Larsen the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner. Eric Larson started outside second row and by turn two was leading the SportMod main. Broddy Enter, who had started right behind him was trying to catch him but on lap seven Joey Reimers spun and brought out a yellow flag and a restart. On the restart, both Matt Looft and Zac Davis got around Enter but Larson was holding strong to his front position. Another yellow flag came out when Zach Malchow spun. This time, Looft and Davis exchanged spots and Looft tried to run down Larson but had to settle for second ahead of Davis and Ben Reierson took fourth. A.J. Zimmerman led the first two laps of the Stock Car feature from his front row start. Soon, [Read More]

Points leaders, lists take shape at Off Road

By Randy Pospishil sports@norfolkdailynews.com NORFOLK, Neb. (June 3, 2023) – The racing season may be just one-third of the way toward completion, but the points lists and the respective leaders in each of the various divisions are already taking shape at Off Road Speedway. Even at this early stage of the season, every point earned contributes to a potential track championship. Cory Dumpert, for example, entered Saturday night’s regular night of racing with a narrow three-point advantage over Devin Johnson and Chase Osborne in the IMCA Sunoco Late Model division. Dumpert will be able to add to that margin, albeit slightly, after his feature win, while Johnson was black flagged during the race and Osborne finished third. Dumpert patiently moved from deep in the field, with a starting position five rows back from the leaders then, after gaining momentum exiting turn two, cut sharply down the track entering turn three to secure the lead from Justin Bertschinger just before the race’s second caution and restart with four laps remaining. Dumpert’s win is his second of [Read More]

Mills, Reimers clean up with Dirty 30 wins at Boone

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (June 3, 2023) – Both Friesen Performance IMCA  Modifieds and IMCA Northern SportMods shed their tops on Dirty 30 Topless Night presented by Capital Sign Company and 1-800-BetsOff Saturday at Boone Speedway. Jeremy Mills came away with the $1,200 win for the Modifieds and it was Cam Reimers taking the $1,000 victory in the Northern SportMod division. Jimmy Gustin shot to the lead from his pole starting spot as the Modified main began. Gustin looked to be well on his way to capturing the win, still leading at lap 20 while several other drivers continued making their way through the pack. Mills was one of those racers, as was last week’s winner Todd Shute, along with Jake McBirnie and Cody Laney, who had worked his way into third from starting 26th. Gustin had established his line at the very top of the track and bad luck would jump up and bite him when he dropped off the lip of the track in turn four. He gathered it back in but that slight miscue [Read More]

Five IMCA feature winners decided on final laps at CJ

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (June 2, 2023) – All five IMCA feature events came down to the final laps, with winners being determined on the final straight away Friday at CJ Speedway. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event came down to the final corner as race leader Kurt Kile encountered lapped traffic and shot to the extreme high line of the speedway in turn four. This allowed an opening on the bottom side of the track and Jarrett Brown was there to take advantage of the opening.  Brown was able to get to the checkers less than a car length ahead of Kile. The 77 of Kile led the majority of the race only to be bested by Brown on the last lap. Kile took second ahead of Dakota Simmons. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event was another action-packed event that saw close racing, some bumps and a driver racing from the back twice.
