Uehling rules Off Road IMCA Hobby Stock feature

By Randy Pospishil sports@norfolkdailynews.com NORFOLK, Neb. (May 18, 2024) – Half a car length made the difference between a W and second-place in Saturday’s IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature at Off Road Speedway. In the closest race of the night, Uehling edged Jason Wilkinson at the flag stand by a half-car length for a win. Uehling, who started on the outside of row one, led all 15 laps with Wilkinson in pursuit the entire race.  The pair repeatedly pulled away from the field, even following a caution with just six laps remaining, and Wilkinson increased the pressure each of the final trips around the track. Wilkinson closed the gap coming out of turn four the last time around, then pulled alongside Uehling briefly on the backstretch but would get no closer than Uehling’s door as the cars passed the flag stand. Pole-sitter Trevor Frisch out-dueled a number of contenders to secure third place. In the IMCA Sunoco Late Model feature, Cory Dumpert responded to last week’s narrow defeat by bouncing back with a runaway win. Dumpert, [Read More]

Miles family takes two wins at Maquoketa Speedway

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 18, 2024) – Saturday night, McMahon Salvage sponsored the Maquoketa Speedway racing program by adding bonus money to the Hobby Stock and Stock car main events and both of those feature events were won by members of the racing Miles family. The leader of the pack, Jerry Miles collected the bonus money in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars while graduating senior Jordan Miles collected the bonus money by winning the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature.  Twenty IMCA Sunoco Late Models took the green and their 25 lapper went flag-to-flag with great action throughout the entire race. Travis Denning took the lead at the dropping of the green and appeared to have the feature win within his grasp until late in the race  before the leaders encountered lapped traffic. Denning chose to take to the low line as he came on the slower traffic and that allowed Evan Miller to take to the top and drive around Denning. While Denning was trapped down low, Justin Kay and Matt Ryan also were [Read More]

Everything right for Wagner’s first IMCA win

JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 16, 2024) – The right track, the right car and the right driving style all combined to put Dan Wagner in Park Jefferson Speedway’s victory lane Thursday night. Wagner topped the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature for his career-first feature win in any class, holding off Matt Bonine in the final circuits. “It was very satisfying because of all the hard work we’ve put in,” said Wagner, who raced in 2001 and in 2007 before taking off 15 years to follow his five kids’ multitude of activities. “We have an old-style driving style in a modern era and that’s a little like oil and water.” Wagner ran a Harris car in his 2022 and 2023 Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod campaigns. He’s back on track in the 2021 Harris ride previously piloted by Cody Thompson with a self-designed rear suspension more accustomed to what he’s used to from back in the day. After starting outside the front row, he led Thursday’s 20-lapper from the first corner to the finish. “It was a [Read More]

By Randy Pospishil sports@norfolkdailynews  NORFOLK, Neb. (May 11, 2024) – The 2024 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season, and with it the chase for individual points championships, began Saturday night at Off Road Speedway.  Among the feature winners in the sanctioned classes competing on a weekly basis were Anthony Roth in the IMCA Sunoco Late Models, Cameron Wilkinson in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Nic Kimmel in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and James Roebuck in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. Roth, a Columbus racer, started on the outside of row two in the Late Model feature and remained among the top five during the first half of the race while multi-time defending national champion Cory Dumpert held the lead. With 11 laps left in the 25-lap race, a caution created an opportunity for Roth to get to the front. Dumpert drifted high in turn two before diving back to the inside, attempting to occupy the space between Roth and Chase Osborne, but as the cars sped down the backstretch Roth had the lead. A whopping 139 teams took part.  The IMCA Sunoco Late Model feature was the headliner of the night. Local standout … and four-time national champion … Justin Kay started on the pole and led the main event flag to flag.
