County fair checkers are IMCA first for Connelly

(May 18, 2024) – Antioch Speedway fans were treated to two nights of racing during the annual Contra Costa County Fair with Saturday offered a trio of exciting IMCA sanctioned races. This included the first win for Dylan Connelly in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main event, Kellen Chadwick in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Travis Dutra in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Connelly had come close on multiple occasions during the previous two IMCA SportMod seasons. On Saturday, he refused to let any of the yellow flag situations cost him a well-earned win. Connelly took the lead from Kelly Campanile with a turn four pass on the second lap. Jason Ryan Jr. quickly settled into second. Fred Ryland settled into third on the fourth lap but he spun for a lap six yellow flag. Towns dominates in IMCA Modified triumph at Cottage Grove

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (May 18, 2024) – Cottage Grove Speedway was abuzz with excitement on Saturday, May 18 for Armed Forces Night, a special event presented by Shriner’s. When the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds took to the track for their finale, Curtis Towns made the most of his front row starting position. Known for his quick starts, Towns shot off like a cannon and stayed in control despite an early caution. An early caution slowed things down but couldn’t dampen the intense competition. Defending Oregon State champion Carter Patterson pushed hard to overtake Towns couldn’t quite find a way to the front and the leader continued to pull away. This intensified the second-place race as Jake Mayden battled hard with Patterson. Mayden eventually obtained the runner-up spot and then began to chase down Towns despite a big gap separating the two. Davenport Speedway beefs up IMCA Modified payday this Friday

DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 21, 2024) – Scott County Cattlemen will do the grilling and Friesen Performance IMCA Modified drivers will do the racing for $1,000 to win this Friday night at Davenport Speedway. The cattlemen’s association sponsors the May 24 race program, which sees SLMR Super Late Models on the holiday weekend card along with the Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. Purse for the Modified main event tops $9,000. The winner also becomes eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational while the runner-up earns $800, 10th place pays $400 and taking the green flag is good for $100. Tow money is $75. Modifieds are draw/redraw and their entry fee is $30. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and state points will be awarded; Hobby Stocks and Northern SportMods also earn track points. Pit passes are $40 or $25 for ages 10 and under. Saturday IMCA feature wins are especially sweet at Eagle

Legg led Tyler Jackson, Thomas Etherton and Jeremy Down in taking the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers at America’s Home Track. “I won a lot of races in a SportMod here and then quit racing after 2015. Hesse hauls to career first checkers at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 18, 2024) – Cole Hesse became a first-time winner, on a night of firsts Saturday at Arlington Raceway. The Gibbon hotshoe made the most of the lower line, made his way to the front of the field by lap five and then made his way to victory lane following his career-first Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod victory. “Definitely down low was fastest, and it seemed like (turns) one and two were better for me,” said Hesse, who would pull away to a two second advantage before the end of the race. “I’ve got one trophy now and hopefully I can add more. IMCA Modifieds headline Clash on holiday weekend at Grays Harbor

ELMA, Wash. (May 20, 2024) – IMCA drivers will race for a couple nice paydays, then they’ll sit back and enjoy one of the best fireworks displays in the Pacific Northwest at Grays Harbor Raceway’s May 25 and 26 Modified Clash. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature on Saturday pays $2,000 to win, the Sunday main event $2,500 to win before the fireworks show brings an end to the Memorial Weekend event. Both are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility races and pay a minimum of $100 to start the feature. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Shaw Race Cars Western Region, state and track points will be awarded each night. Aikey takes top honors at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (May 19, 2024) – Rain may have caused a delay, but it didn’t put a damper on Sunday’s racing program at Benton County Speedway. A rain shower that started as the first heat of the night hit the track forced a delay of more than an hour. When the skies cleared, it was business as usual at The Bullring. Jeff Aikey found success in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. From his pole position start, Aikey powered away from the field in the Wright Way Trailers 20-lapper and then withstood challenges on a couple restarts to race to victory. Trenchard, Peery are first on Friday night at Yreka

(May 17, 2024) – After nearly a month off of racing, Yreka Speedway roared back to life on Friday with a race program that attracted drivers from California, Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event began with a wild start as a car at the front of the field got sideways in turns three and four. Nick Trenchard used some evasive maneuvers to get around the spinning ride then settled into the front spot. The race stayed green before another caution came out on the ninth circuit. Before the main event’s second and final stoppage, a wild three-car tussle for second place position ensued between Mallet, Arizona traveler Timothy Allerdings and Monte Bischoff. Kirchoff tops DCRP’s Tumbleweed Classic

Jack Kirchoff grabbed the lead as the white flag waved, then held off the rest of the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod field for a $500 payday at Dodge City Raceway Park’s Tumbleweed Classic. Dalton Bell ended in second, Kirchoff’s son Ryan in third. “It’s a good feeling. The car handled well,” the Garden City speedster said after wheeling a 2018 1st Class Chassis to his first feature victory of the season. “It was a good night for us. Miles family takes two wins at Maquoketa Speedway

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 18, 2024) – Saturday night, McMahon Salvage sponsored the Maquoketa Speedway racing program by adding bonus money to the Hobby Stock and Stock car main events and both of those feature events were won by members of the racing Miles family. The leader of the pack, Jerry Miles collected the bonus money in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars while graduating senior Jordan Miles collected the bonus money by winning the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. Twenty IMCA Sunoco Late Models took the green and their 25 lapper went flag-to-flag with great action throughout the entire race. Travis Denning took the lead at the dropping of the green and appeared to have the feature win within his grasp until late in the race before the leaders encountered lapped traffic.
