Racing, fireworks beat rain at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 6, 2024) – Track staff worked quickly to beat the incoming rain just west of Arlington Raceway to ensure the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing program was complete and the NAPA fireworks show done. They accomplished those tasks in record time as the rains came just as the last colors hit the sky. Drivers did an excellent job in all divisions as there was some great racing action throughout the night.  The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature saw 24 cars start the feature and it was a dandy as Dakota Robinson and Brent Uecker raced side-by-side throughout, with each leading at the line and then trading positions.  As the white flag was going to be displayed, a yellow came out for a stalled car next to the front wall. When the cars realigned it was Uecker and Robinson battling again. Robinson pushed going into turn one and got too high and by  the time turn two came he had lost several positions. Uecker became the leader but Curt Lund was reeling him in [Read More]

Trenchard, Killingsworth are fastest on Friday at Yreka

By Ben Deatherage YREKA, Calif. (July 5, 2024) – Yreka Speedway set the stage for an electrifying start to the month of July on Friday with the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods in action. Nick Trenchard would win the Modified main at Yreka for the third time this season while hometown hotshoe Ethan Killingsworth notched his ninth Northern SportMod victory, and fourth of 2024 at Yreka.  The Modified main event started with a three-wide battle between Mark Wauge, Trenchard and Jacob Mallet Jr. Trenchard beat both on the backstretch and was the pacesetter. Mallet stayed in Trenchard’s tire tracks but things slowed down with two down for a caution. On the restart, Trenchard was good, while Wauge, in third, felt a little bit of pressure from Monte Bischoff.   As the race stayed green, Mallet was close to Trenchard but could not find a way around. As the laps clicked away, Trenchard had just enough of an advantage to have some breathing room and continued to operate smoothly on the [Read More]

Night two Freedom Cup wins to Muth, Sanders

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (July 5, 2024) – Night two of the Freedom Cup holiday special at Cottage Grove Speedway saw Brett Muth race to his first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature win. The hometown hero, third in the opening night main event, led every lap of the non-stop feature and took the checkers ahead of Thursday winner Jake Mayden and Kevin Williamson. Muth started on the outside of the front row, kept Kevin Williamson and Bennett Bray of Roseburg in check when the green flag waved and promptly started to check out. Williamson, with a busted component on his right front, fought hard to maintain second but was soon challenged by Mayden, who in turn had his hands full with Aaron Sheelar. Mayden finally broke through on the 18th circuit with a double overtake. He had a lot of speed and began chomping into Muth’s advantage but ran out of time to run down the leader. Sheelar and Zane Miner chased Muth, Mayden and Williamson across the stripe. After racing from 11th to [Read More]
