Bartz pockets top payday at Shawano

By Joe Orsini SHAWANO, Wis. (June 24, 2023) – Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds rolled out to race for $1,000 to win Saturday at Shawano Speedway and Jordan Bartz raced straight to victory lane to claim the check. Bartz utilized the momentum on the high side of the oval to grab the opening lap lead from her outside front row starting spot. Lucas Lamberies put on a show behind her, moving from eighth to fourth by lap three and then to third by lap four. A caution seven laps in slowed the pace and saw Bartz lead Marcus Yarie, Lamberies, Konnor Wilinski and Brekken Kleinschmidt back to green. As Yarie and Lamberies fell into a battle for second, Bartz looked to put some distance on the pair as they raced side-by-side. That breathing room was short-lived as Lamberies cleared Yarie on lap eight and put immediate pressure on the 12 of Bartz. The leader refused to wilt under fire and held on for the win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. Lamberies crossed the line [Read More]

Garnhart wins nailbiter at Maquoketa before rain arrives

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 24, 2023) – Amhof Trucking of Eldridge hosted on-track action Saturday night at Maquoketa Speedway. The racing took place under the threat of an approaching storm so the program was moved along as quickly as possible.  The IMCA Sunoco Late Models once again provided fans with a thrilling finish. As the winds began to whip around the fairgrounds, the Late Models were battling for position all the way through their 16-car field.  Race leader Dalton Simonsen took the white flag with what appeared to be a good enough lead that would allow him to score the win. Bryce Garnhart, however, had different ideas as he took his number 3 ride to the inside of Simonsen as the two raced down the back chute, setting up a charge to the finish off turn four which would net a feature win for Garnhart by less than two feet. Following Simonsen across the finish line were CJ Horn and early leader Scott Olson, who took fourth.  The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods [Read More]

(June 23, 2023) – Dylan Waldvogel started on the pole of the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature and never looked back in racing to the checkers Friday at Outagamie Speedway. Cory Kemkes challenged Waldvogel several times but could never find a way around. Waldvogel led all 20 laps for his first win of the year. He was followed to the checkers by Kemkes, Chris Kuchta, Jordan Jahnke and Ryan Schmidt. Dan Michonski snagged the lead on lap one of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature but it was Brett Wenzel taking to the outside of the track to grab the lead on lap two. Gilman scores after fast start at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 21, 2023) – Multi-time and defending track champion Josh Gllman was the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified driver no one could catch Wednesday at Karl Chevrolet of Stuart International Speedway. Gilman led Drew Janssen and Martin Bennett over the first half of the race. Bennett faded as Canadian driver Isaiah Geisel got to third with five laps to go but there was no touching Gilman as he sailed to the 3.5 second win. Janssen finished second with Geisel third. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars saw Jeff Mueller use his front row start to rocket out to the lead. Buck Schafroth gave chase for the entire 20 laps but there was no catching Mueller on this night as he cruised to the feature win. Schafroth finished second with third going to Miciah Hidlebaugh. Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts saw Jeremiah Downing firing off from the pole. Anthony Clark and Kolby Sabin worked their way through the field with Sabin getting the advantage early on. Arlington IMCA Stock Car checkers are first for Eckblad

ARLINGTON, Minn. (June 17, 2023) – Another first-time IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner made his way to victory lane at Arlington Raceway Saturday night. Dan Eckblad got the lead back coming out of the final turn and took the checkers inches ahead … some 17 thousandth’s of a second scored electronically … ahead of Josh Larsen. “It was pretty cool,” said Eckblad, who followed father Daniel and uncle Darrell into the sport and earned the first win for the St. Peter based family of racers. “Arlington is about 20 minutes from home and it’s our home track.” “A lot of years racing and a lot of hard work went into this.” The feature went flag-to-flag with three lead changes. Ryan Grochow was the early leader as he held off Eckblad the first four laps before Eckblad got under him and took the lead. Soon, Eckblad had the company of Larsen as the two raced side-by-side for several laps. Each time they came to the finish line, Larsen was in front of Eckblad and was leading [Read More]

Duffy tops thriller, Mohr wins first at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 17, 2023) – Maquoketa Speedway hosted Oly’s Garage Night at the races on Saturday night. Beautiful weather and a very fast tacky track provided for an action-packed night of stock car racing.  The headliner of the night featured the return of the IMCA Sunoco Late Models and a field of 16 cars took the green flag for a 25-lap feature that went flag to flag. Logan Duffy took the lead from pole sitter Brandon Loos and went on to build a comfortable advantage. As the laps wound down, the lead pack swelled to three as Bryce Garnhart and Dalton Simonsen joined Duffy.  Both Simonsen and Garnhart were scored as leaders late in the race. The front trio came on lapped traffic as the white flag waved. Coming to the checkers the three all took evasive action to try and clear the lapped cars. The checkers waved with a pack of five cars crossing the finish line, Duffy took the win by a one foot margin ahead of Garnhart with [Read More]

First Stock Car checkers fly for last starting Anderson

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (June 17, 2023) – John Anderson changed directions and changed his Saturday night status from rained out to first-time IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature winner. En route to Shelby County Speedway before that show was lost to wet weather, the Omaha speedster went back to his shop, changed gear and got to Eagle Raceway in time to start at the back of the 18-car main event field. In fourth by lap 10, he made a huge move with seven circuits to go, vaulting all of the way up to second. Anderson snagged the lead with three to go, ultimately winning ahead of Shane Stutzman and Nick Beckman. “The cautions fell my way and I had a pretty fast car (a 2018 Jet),” said Anderson. “It was pretty crazy.” He’d finished third in each of his two starts in the class, both earlier this season at Eagle. “I’ll be darned. My first win,” said Anderson, who ran the non-IMCA sanctioned stock car class one season ‘back in the day.’ “That sounds [Read More]
