IMCA Modifieds return to Wisconsin’s Angell Park Speedway this Sunday

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (Aug. 6, 2024) – Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds return to Angell Park Speedway this Sunday, for a $1,000 to win feature during the annual King of the Park special. Winner of the Aug. 11 main event becomes eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. The feature pays a minimum of $125 to start with IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Razor Chassis North Central Region and Wisconsin State points to be awarded. Twenty-one Modifieds representing three states competed during their first-ever visit to the 1/3-mile Wisconsin speed factory, located just five minutes northeast of Madison, last summer. Pit gates open at 1:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 5 p.m. with racing to follow. Pit passes are $30. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and military, $10 for students ages 12-17 and $5 for ages 6-11, and free for five and under. Reierson in right direction with first IMCA Northern SportMod win

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 3, 2024) – Ben Reierson led every lap but the last one last week. He got the job done Saturday night at Arlington Raceway, beating Matt Looft to the finish line by all of 18 thousandths of a second for his career first Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature win. “I definitely replayed that in my mind a bunch. We were supposed to have that Stock Car special (rained out and rescheduled to this Wednesday) so I was trying to erase that from my memory and start fresh,” said Reierson, 22 and in his fourth full season in the class. “Then it came to Saturday, I was able to start second row and I got the lead on the second lap. Maquoketa Speedway host Kids’ Night as 122 teams pack pits

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Aug. 3, 2024) – Kinion Auto Sales hosted Kids Night at the races with an outstanding field of 122 race teams in attendance at Maquoketa Speedway on Saturday night. The IMCA Sunoco Late Model feature took the green with rookie Carter Johnson setting the pace early. Johnson was overtaken by another young driver in Chase Brunscheen before the 93 of Brunscheen slipped off the top side of turn, four allowing Bryce Garnhart to take the lead. Garnhart went on to set sail on the lip of the track holding off the constant challenges of 10th starting Travis Denning. Garnhart held his line and held on for a hard-fought win a car length ahead of Denning with Evan Miller finishing a very close third. Eagle win is career first for Cook

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 3, 2024) – Score a career-first Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature win at Eagle Raceway for Lauren Cook. The third-year hotshoe out of Lincoln led the distance of the Saturday show, and while competition for third through fifth places behind her was hot and heavy, Cook was in control green to checkers. “It does help starting on the front row. The track was really slick in (turns) three and four and really good in one and two,” she said. “I could get the car to turn and hit some good moisture but I was a little slow in three and four because it was so slick. I felt like I was going really slow like somebody should have been passing me, but they didn’t”. Congratulations keep coming following Domeier’s first IMCA Hobby Stock win

REDWOOD FALLS, Minn. (Aug. 4, 2024) – There was no shortage of encouragement to make the switch when Tyler Domeier was thinking about getting into an IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock. Just six starts into his career in the class, the congratulations started coming in following his first feature win. Domeier won the Sunday night main event at Redwood Speedway, wheeling a 2008 Terminator to the checkers ahead of Tayte Harazin and Cory Probst. “I started on a really fast line. I started front row outside so I started on the preferred line. I just stuck to that line and I just needed to race clean,” the hometown speedster said. “I knew if I could keep it straight and clean I’d probably be fast enough to hold off Harazin and Probst on the restart. History was made at Iowa’s Action Track when Mike Smith found his way to victory lane, marking his 100th career win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Tim Ward returned to the winner’s circle when he won the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature and Devin Smith got the win in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Career 100th IMCA Hobby Stock win sends Mike Smith back to victory lane at Boone

LAKE CITY, Iowa (Aug. 3, 2024) – The track that’s already been the scene for so much of Mike Smith’s success saw him in victory lane again Saturday night. Smith raced to the 100th win of his IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock career at Boone Speedway, becoming at 20 the youngest driver to reach that milestone number. He also joined his father David, now knocking on the door of 200 career IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature wins, and uncles Dustin, Devin, Donavon and Doug in the IMCA Century Win Club. “I wanted to be in that club. Pfeifer, Deschamp, Medler, Heaton are night one Coal County Classic winners

(Aug. 2, 2024) – McLean County Speedway hosted its final race weekend of 2024 with Steven Pfeifer, Gabriel Deschamp, Darren Medler and Taylor Heaton earning IMCA feature wins. Dalton Flory was the early leader in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified ranks. Travis Hagen caught Flory and challenged on the bottom but couldn’t make it work so he transitioned to the top shelf. While that occurred, Pfeifer came into the fray to make it a three-car battle for the lead. Flory did his best to keep them all in check, but Pfeifer successfully obtained first place on lap six with Hagen motoring his way into second. Drew Christianson went into third and tried to challenge Hagen for the runner-up around lap 10. The yellow came out one last time with 13 laps complete, setting up a dozen laps left to cover. Fair winners collects big trophies at Colby

(Aug. 2, 2024) – Every racer dreams of winning big races and taking home a big trophy and Eddie Belec, Kyle Pfeifer, Blaine Walt, Brady Bencken and Kyle Mortensen all did that Friday night at the Thomas County Fair. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods were up first with a 15-lap feature event paced by Monty Nordyke and Douglas Beaman. Nordyke gained the early advantage and pulled away from second-running Nick Hankins until a lap six caution. Walt took the lead off of the restart and duked it out with Nordyke until a lap nine yellow. Walt then pulled away by a big margin over Josh Barnhart, who charged up to second place late in the feature, to pick up win number four of the season. Second was Barnhart and third was Nordyke. Osborn scores first-ever win at CJ Speedway

It is always very special to see a driver score their first ever feature win and that happened on Friday night in the very tough Friesen Performance IMCA Modified division. With a stellar field of 18 drivers taking the initial green flag it was the young Kolton Osborn setting sail and shooting into the lead from his third row start. Osborn, who has been knocking on the door of victory lane all year at CJ Speedway, finally saw his hard work come to fruition but the win was anything but easy.
