Fast, furious finish sees Flippo first in IMCA Night of 10,000 Stars feature

BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 9, 2023) – The first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win in Iowa this season for Jerry Flippo came in late June at Hancock County Speedway. The California transplant’s biggest win in the Hawkeye State came Wednesday night, in the same location. Flippo got the best of Tripp Gaylord in a late battle of fast and furious lead changes on his way to the $5,000 checkers at Hancock County’s Corteva Agriscience Night of 10,000 Stars show, in the second installment of IMCA.TV Speedweek. Gaylord had caught Cody Thompson shortly after the mandatory pit stop halfway through the 50-lapper at Britt. Racing for Autism, Bald Tire Bash August 13 at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2023) – Although the rain won last weekend, racing will resume Sunday, August 13 at Benton County Speedway with the rescheduled Racing for Autism / Bald Tire Bash August. Racing for Autism, presented by Every Piece Matters, is the theme for the August 13 show and a $2,000 winner’s share will be up for grabs in the second annual Bald Tire Bash for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Christie Door Company. The Stock Car special, which is draw/redraw and pays $200 to start the 50-lap A main, will require a tread depth of no more than 5/32” on all four tires. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by Beaty Excavating also boast an increased winner’s share Sunday night. That draw/redraw event pays $1,000 to win. IMCA features go 3-4-5 wide at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 5, 2023) – The Sibley County Fair races provided three- and four- and even five-wide racing throughout the night in all divisions for the fans to enjoy Saturday at Arlington Raceway. The first feature saw Ben Davis lead the first four laps of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main but coming out of turn four he lost control of his car and allowed Cory Probst to take the lead from his 10th place start. Davis and Taylor Manderfield then had a good battle but Davis slid up and Manderfield was able to gain a position. On the next lap, Dan Probst was able to glide by both of those cars to take second behind son Cory. In the end, Cory Probst wins another feature with his dad taking second and Manderfield third. The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts saw five-wide racing for the first lap until the field spread out and then again after a restart. Masengarb stars in rich IMCA Mod Lite show at Boone

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 5, 2023) – It was another big night of racing at the Boone Speedway on Saturday, that saw 175 race cars checked into the pits. Sauerman Trucking boosted the payout for the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites to a $500 payday, as well as kicking in $50 to each heat winner in all divisions. The Mod Lites ran their 15-lap feature event first. Early leader was David Bailey with Scott Bailey giving chase and that was the running order when the race was red flagged on lap eight after John Patterson rolled his brand-new ride in turn four but was thankfully okay. When the race went back to green, a lap was not completed when the race was once again red flagged after disaster struck on the backstretch. Call him doctor! Brown puts on a Clinic at CJ Speedway

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (Aug. 4, 2023) – The CJ Speedway roared back to life with an action-packed night of racing on a perfectly prepared racing surface thanks to the efforts of promoter Larry Richardson. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds have provided great racing all season and the man to beat in the Modified has been Jarrett Brown and the Performer Chassis owned by Bill Failyer comes to the track dialed in every Friday night. Brown took the green for the main event in the ninth starting position and was battling for second before one lap was completed. Brown shot by Kolton Osborn on lap three and went on to record a convincing win in the feature. Brandon Banks advanced from the eighth starting spot to take second but finished well behind Brown. Dakota Simmons had a fine run in taking third. Double winner Looft avoids bad luck in Arlington’s turn three

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 29, 2023) – The number 3 was unlucky Saturday night at Arlington Raceway as there were three rollovers in turn three that resulted in considerable damage to as many cars. The first was in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock race on the first lap when Travis Manderfield’s drive shaft broke and sent him rolling off the track. He was ok, but out of the race. Then Blake Foesch had the misfortune of rolling after an axle tube broke after leading the first three laps and he, too, was out of the race. When the race got started again, Chad Volk took the lead for two laps but undefeated for the season Cory Probst moved forward each lap from his 10th place start and took over the top spot on the sixth lap. Volk then contended with Jonathan Schroeder for second with Schroeder getting by him. Volk finished third ahead of Jed Trebelhorn. Jason Bolte led the entire Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature. IMCA Late Model drivers chase Sunoco bonuses at Lee County, 34 Raceway

DONNELLSON, Iowa (Aug. 1, 2023) – IMCA Late Model drivers will have two opportunities to win bonuses from Sunoco Race Fuels this weekend. The division title sponsor gives $250 to feature winners Friday, Aug. 4 at Lee County Speedway and Saturday, Aug. 5 at 34 Raceway in West Burlington. Friday sees Late Models racing for $1,000 to win their Drive For 5 qualifier at Donnellson, where pit passes are $30 for adults, $20 for kids ages 7-13, $10 for kids ages 4-6 and $5 for three and under. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with hot laps at 7 p.m. and racing to follow. Saturday’s 34 For Kids Night show starts with a driver meet n’ greet and ends with fireworks, with bags of school supplies to be given away and bicycles and other prizes awarded to young fans in between. Salute to Veterans show at Kossuth County draws 137 cars

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (July 27, 2023) – It was the eighth annual Hunting With Heroes Salute to Veterans night at Kossuth County Speedway on Thursday as the event just continues to break more records every year. An event-high 137 cars signed in the pit shack to compete for an increased purse but more importantly a hand-carved trophy and an opportunity to give a veteran a prize worth at least $300 with a top three finish. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature saw a veteran driver win what he said in the winner’s circle was the biggest victory in his racing career. Todd Stinehart took the top spot early and built a lead but the yellow flag came out lap number three and again three laps later. But after that, the feature went non-stop as emotional Stinehart was elated in victory lane with the biggest win of his 28-year career and a nice $3,500 first place check helped a little bit, too. Let the good times roll – IMCA cars, drivers, fans are Boone Bound for Sept. 4-9 Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – There’s no exact number yet but this is guaranteed: The cars – race cars, not the band – are coming to Boone Speedway. Nearly 650 drivers from 27 states and three Canadian provinces are already pre-registered for the 41st annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s Sept. 4-9 at Iowa’s Action Track, and the goals of every one of those drivers are to win the most prestigious championship in dirt track racing and have a good time while they’re doing it. “The general format for Super Nationals remains the same.
