Off Road Speedway doubles up with make-up features

(June 17, 2023) – Off Road Speedway doubled up on its regular slate of racing Saturday night, adding the features that were rained out a week ago to offer race fans and drivers a two-for-one bonus opportunity. For some drivers, who appear to be finding the most effective setup for the Norfolk track and are preparing their cars accordingly, that became a chance to double up on finishes among the top five or, in some cases, to notch another win. Four-time defending national champion Cory Dumpert picked up his third Off Road Speedway feature win of the season in the IMCA Sunoco Late Model division. Gillenwater scores first win of season

By Brian Neal DONNELLSON, Iowa (June 16, 2023) – Lee County Speedway took a night to highlight the career of area racer Ernie Derr on Friday as the car he drove in his final races was on display and also make some laps around the track during the evening’s activities. Jim Gillenwater led all 18 laps in scoring his first win of the season at Donnellson in the caution-free Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main. John Oliver Jr. was runner-up and Adam Birck took third. The 25-lap Iowa Corn Growers Association IMCA Sunoco Late Model feature saw Jason Oenning work the top of the track and take the lead on lap 11, then hold off a last lap charge from Jeremy Pundt to score his second career feature win. Lemmens leaves Shawano with big money

(June 17, 2023) – Luke Lemmens ran the top side to perfection in the late going, earning the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win and $4,000 at Shawano Speedway’s Racing For a Reason. The 12th annual special benefits the battle against childhood cancer and a season-high 130 entries, 33 of them Stock Cars, checked in at the legendary half mile. Chucky Forstner and Lemmens led the field to the green and early on it was Lemmens running the high side and Forstner down low, racing side-by-side with Tyler Wilson following closely behind. The two drivers on the move were Trent Nolan, who started seventh, and Travis VanStraten, who started 11th. By lap five, both had worked their way into the top five. Kile, Strothman headline winners’ list at CJ Speedway

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (June 16, 2023) – The weatherman provided another beautiful night Friday for racing action at the CJ Speedway, located on the Louisa County Fairgrounds in Columbus Junction. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds took the green for their 18-lap feature with Kurt Kile splitting the front row starters, the Brau brothers, Kile took the lead that he would not relinquish. Outside fourth row starter Jarrett Brown worked to the front quickly and tried to catch the quick running Kile but although he was able to close on the leader, Brown was unable to mount a serious challenge for the lead. Kile took the win ahead of Brown and visitor Zach Dockter from Norwich, N.D. By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 16, 2023) – Jake McBirnie pocketed $1,000 for his Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature win on Friday, Midwest Liquid Systems Night at the Karl Auto Group Marshalltown Speedway. McBirnie started on the outside front row in the 20-lap Night after the Creek main event and leaped to the immediate lead when the race went green. He would go on to lead every lap on his way to the checkers to capture his first win at the speedway this season along with qualifying eligibility for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Fresh off a heat race win, Chris Pigeon paced the opening laps of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. Pigeon ran the cushion as Bartz went to work down low. Bartz made the pass for the top spot on lap four and never looked back, cruising to her first feature win of the season and a clean sweep on the night. IMCA Stock Car win at US 36 is first for Smith

By Rick Staley OSBORN, Mo. (June 16, 2023) – The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature at US 36 Raceway saw side-by-side racing and a first-time visitor to victory lane Friday night. Carson Masoner took the early lead and pulled away from the field with Brad Derry, Matthew Lance and Nate Barnes nipping at his heels. He continued to lead until Randy Smith Jr. found the fast line around the track and took over at the front. Smith, who has won in about everything except an IMCA Stock Car, did not look back nor was he denied in picking up his first-ever feature win in The Class Too Tough To Tame at US 36 Raceway. ALBION, Neb. (June 14, 2023) – The Class Too Tough to Tame returns to Boone County Raceway July 9 for the Tanner Pelster Memorial, and the driver who can tame the Sunday night IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event will take home $5,111. A guaranteed starting spot in the upcoming B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational is at stake as well at the third annual special, sponsored by Sudbeck Underground Inc., Nebraska Owners Insurance and 94 Rock.
