IMCA Modified stars shine at high-paying Hancock County specials

BRITT, Iowa – IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified stars shine at two of the top-paying special events of the season on back-to-back nights at Hancock County Speedway. The 20th annual Night of 1,000 Stars on Thursday, Aug. 7 pays as much as $9,000 and a minimum of $3,500 to win. And on Friday, Aug. 8, the second annual Night of 10,000 Stars boasts a potential payout of $10,000 and a guaranteed $7,000 to the winner. Both Modified features are 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers and will be 50 laps. Fireworks follow each night’s race program. The Aug. 7 event is also an XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour show and is sponsored by Doug Studer Farms. Lap money totals $2,500 with a $1,000 bonus to the leader at mid­way. Rooks County Speedway hosts Aug. 13, 14 fair races

By Mike Hughes STOCKTON, Kan. – Rooks County Speedway in Stockton, Kan., will host races during the Rooks County Fair on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 13-14. Sanctioned IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks will be in action both nights. It will be a complete show each night. Tonight’s Deery Series event in Independence is canceled

By Ryan Clark INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (Aug. 6) – With wet weather in the area and an increased threat of rain later this afternoon into the evening, officials have canceled tonight’s Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models event at Independence Motor Speedway. The event, which was also rained out on its original date of July 1, will not be made up. “The weather has affected us all year and tonight is no different,” said promoter Darin Burco of S&B Promotions. “It isn’t a decision we wanted to make,” he continued, “but it’s one we don’t take lightly.” With an increased chance for rain in Independence around the time hot laps were scheduled to start, Burco said the last thing he wanted to do is force people to drive from all over the state just to get rained out with no make-up date available. “We’ve talked to meteorologists who tell us the track of the weather will change and we’ll get wet around 6 p.m.,” he said. “I used to race the Deery Series and [Read More]

Gandrud Chevrolet Red, White & Blue Series finale August 9 at 141 Speedway

FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (Aug. 4) – Saturday, August 9 marks the final race in the Gandrud Chevrolet Red, White & Blue Series at 141 Speedway. The series will award over $10,000 in contingencies to the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, along with IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Belleville Motorsports North Central Regional, Allstar Performance State and track points. In addition to contingencies from Arneson Shock Service, BSB Manufacturing, Fast Shafts and Manitowoc Motor and Machine, the series champion will receive a GM 604 Crate Engine courtesy of Gandrud Chevrolet. IMCA Modifieds top Tonopah Jim Marsh Classic program

TONOPAH, Nev. – A pair of $1,000 to win features for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds top the Friday and Saturday, Aug. 8 and 9 program for Tonopah Speedway’s Jim Marsh Classic. Both events are qualifiers for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region, Allstar Performance State and local tracks will be awarded both nights. Early entry fee for both shows is $150 or $175 at the gate; entry fee for one night is $100. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. both days. Racing starts at 7 p.m. Friday and at 5 p.m. on Saturday. INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (July 30) – Point leader Justin Kay has already won three times this sea­son to match his 2013 Deery Brothers Summer Series total. He’ll try to equal his personal best of three straight feature wins when the IMCA Late Model tour travels to Independence Motor Speedway next Wednesday, Aug. 6. Kay won for the first time in his brief Deery career at Independence last year, then followed with wins at Davenport and West Liberty. Payouts get boost for IMCA Great Plains Series at Dawson County

LEXINGTON, Neb. (July 29) – A bigger purse has been announced for the eighth installment of the Dirt Track Central Jax Sports Grille Great Plains Series. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars now race for $1,300 to win and a minimum of $100 to start the Sunday, Aug. 3 main event at Dawson County Raceway. An anonymous donor added $1,000 to the main event purse for the Ethanol Night program; another $1,000 in bonuses has been added to the pole dash, boosting the total payout for the draw/redraw show to more than $6,000. The top 12 from the heats will transfer and draw for their starting position in the 10-lap pole dash. Full program tonight at Thunderhill Raceway

By Edward Anschutz STURGEON BAY, Wis. (July 30) – A full program is on slate for tonight (Wednesday) at Thunderhill Raceway. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Street Stocks will be in action beginning at 6:30 p.m. start time. The Door County Fair show is being treated as a regular night and is a track point night. Lineups will be set by point average. The night will also count towards the $30,000 contingency program. EAST MOLINE, Ill. – Quad City Speedway hosts its ninth annual Ronnie Weedon Memorial on Sunday, Aug. 3, with a $1,000 to win, minimum $150 to start feature for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. Sponsored by J & J Camper Sales, the draw/redraw event is a qualifier for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. At stake are IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Belleville Motorsports North Central Region and Allstar Performance State, but no local track points.
