Auringer earns second Hogan Memorial win at Benton County Speedway

By Ryan Clark VINTON, Iowa (July 13) – The last time J.D. Auringer won the Hogan Memorial, he led every lap except one. He did himself one better Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. Auringer, who first won the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified special in 2007, led all 40 laps Sunday night to earn his second victory in the event’s 20-year history. Auringer earned $1,250 for winning the race, plus $2,250 in lap money and the halfway leader bonus and additional bonus money to bring his total share of the purse to $3,850. He also receives a free wrap from Tenacity Graphics, plus a new Hoosier tire from IMCA. The win also put him on the ballot for the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Hawkeye State Speedweek sports three XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour dates

VINTON, Iowa (July 11) – Following in the tire tracks of the high-paying Hogan Memorial, three XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour events are scheduled over the course of just five nights during the Hawkeye State Modified Speedweek. Touring IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $150 to start on Monday, July 14 at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson and Tuesday, July 15 at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa. Top prize is $2,000 at the Thursday, July 17 Harris Clash at Knoxville Raceway. That event pays a minimum of $250 to start. Grabouski gets second Dakota Tour win on record-smashing night at Mandan

MANDAN, N.D. (July 10) – For a driver who’s never followed the series before, Jordan Grabouski is making himself right at home on the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Track Side Tour. With a mind-boggling and new series event record 92 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds at Dacotah Speedway, Grabouski sped to his second $2,000 feature win of the week Thursday night. Of equal importance, Grabouski climbed to second in the standings going into Friday’s finale at Jamestown Speedway, 17 points behind Jeff Taylor. “The track was really racy,” said Grabouski, who started sixth and led the last 21 circuits of a 30-lapper that ran without caution. “I’ve never been to any of these tracks before but they’ve been a lot of fun. Ruter outruns Dakota Tour Modified foes at Southwest

DICKINSON, N.D. (July 9) – Ryan Ruter proved to be fastest in a fast-paced feature for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, on another record-setting night for the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour. Ruter led every circuit of Wednesday’s main event at Southwest Speedway. The 30-lapper ran caution-free and Ruter held on for the $2,000 checkers ahead of Jeff Taylor after getting mired in slower traffic. A track record 79 Modifieds ran at Dickinson. Car count records for the division have been broken or equaled each of the first four nights of the 25th annual tour. Taylor ended the night in second, just a car length off the pace. Grabouski gets ‘huge win’ in Dakota Tour show at Williston

WILLISTON, N.D. (July 8) – A long green flag run ended with Jordan Grabouski taking the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour checkers Tuesday night at Williston Basin Speedway. Grabouski caught Ryan Ruter for the lead nine laps into the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature. The race stayed green for the last 19 of 30 laps with Grabouski getting the $2,000 victory ahead of Steven Pfeifer, hard charger Jeff Taylor, Ruter and Travis Hagen. “This was a huge win for us. Kay wins duel with Marolf, Deery feature at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (July 8) – The Deery Brothers Summer Series got its first repeat winner and Justin Kay gave himself a bit more breathing room in the IMCA Late Model tour points race Tuesday night. Kay got the better of Nick Marolf in a back-and-forth battle at West Liberty Raceway that saw the frontrunners swap the lead six times over the course of 40 caution-free laps. The win paid $3,000 and was the Deery career fifth for Kay. Kyle Hinrichs regained third late in the race from defending series champion Brian Harris. Completing the top five was Andy Eckrich, still second but now nine points behind Kay in the standings. Another record car count set as Taylor builds on Dakota Tour success at Estevan

ESTEVAN, Sask. (July 7) – Despite leading all 30 laps, Jeff Taylor got to enjoy Monday’s Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour main event at Estevan Motor Speedway from a couple perspectives. Taylor won his second IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified tour event in as many nights while Steven Pfeifer was second and Shawn Anderson fourth in Taylor Chassis rides. “I’d have been happy with either one of them passing me and winning,” Taylor said. “I’d have been tickled to death.” The win was worth $2,000 and came in a contest slowed by caution just once, on lap 12. Dailey is surprise winner in Fairmont Redline Racing Parts North Star Series feature

FAIRMONT, Minn. (July 4) – Eric Dailey became the surprise winner of a rain-shortened Redline Racing Parts North Star Series feature for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds Friday at Fairmont Raceway. He’d started fifth and was up to third before lining up on the outside for a lap five restart. He slowly reeled in Jeff Ignaszewski and then Roger Nielsen for the lead and was still in front when rain forced an early end half way through the scheduled 20-lapper. “I just came around and there were the double checkers,” Dailey said. Taylor tops Dakota Tour IMCA Modifieds on record-setting night at Nodak

MINOT, N.D. (July 6) – Jeff Taylor left the gremlins back home in Arkansas. Taylor led all 30 laps of Sunday’s Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour main event for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds at Nodak Speedway. The $2,000 victory came on a record-setting opening night for the 25th annual series and clearly got Taylor’s title quest started right. “We came here better prepared than last year and didn’t have to fight the gremlins off,” said Taylor, ninth in the 2013 tour point standings. “I wasn’t very good in hot laps but we loosened the car a bunch and I had a good car in my heat and the feature. $4,000 is possible to win at 20th annual Hogan Memorial

VINTON, Iowa (July 6) – It’s billed as the most anticipated event of the year at Benton County Speedway and the 20th annual Hogan Memorial is a good bet to be just that. The Sunday, July 13 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified main event pays $1,250 to win, another $50 for each of the 40 laps led, plus $250 to the leader at midway. With the addition of a $500 hard charger award, that makes for a potential payoff of $4,000.
