Foulger improves one spot for top IMCA payday at Southern Oregon Snyder Salute

MEDFORD, Ore. (July 3, 2022) – Troy Foulger called his victory at Southern Oregon Speedway’s fifth annual R. Charles Snyder Salute his “third good win” in a Friesen Performance IMCA Modified this season. The Sunday checkers were also good for $7,300, making it his career biggest payday.  The California speedster started ninth after missing the redraw by one spot, caught Cory Sample and then Bricen James for the lead with a dozen laps or so to go, then held onto the front spot following a caution late in the 40-lapper.  “Five thousand dollars had been our career best when we won the inaugural Snyder race and we ran second last year, so it was nice to improve one spot,” Foulger said. “There were a lot of heavy hitters here.” Bobby Hogge IV was the runner-up and hard charger Mark Wauge motored from 16th starting to third. James and Sample completed the top five.  The first caution came after midway and at just the right time, said Foulger, who was in lapped traffic and wasn’t quite sure [Read More]

BOONE, Iowa (July 1, 2022) – Race of champions events for Hobby Stocks and Northern SportMods move to the Tuesday night program during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway. Former Super Nationals, national and regional champions and former race winners, as well as 2022 track champions or points leaders will be eligible to qualify for their respective race of champions event on Labor Day Monday, Sept. 5.  The Stephenville Starter Race of Champions for Hobby Stocks and BSB Manufacturing Race of Champions for Northern SportMods will be Tuesday, Sept. 6.  Both race of champions events had been part of Saturday programs since their addition to the Super Nationals schedule in 2009. “Every year there are drivers who qualify for the race of champions but not their main event. That forces them to stay four days or make two long trips to run 12 laps,” explained IMCA President Brett Root. “Moving qualifying and the two races of champions to Tuesday makes more sense, especially with fuel costs at a record [Read More]

Fett collects career best $5K payday at Heartland Horsepower Nationals

JEFFERSON, S.D. (June 21, 2022) – Colby Fett put Park Jefferson Speedway’s Heartland Horsepower Nationals on his racing radar early this spring. By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. 200th win is latest IMCA Hobby Stock accomplishment for Probst at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (June 18, 2022) – After thinking back to the time when he could hardly win a single race, Cory Probst talked about what it took for him to win 200 of them.  Probst earned the 200th feature win of his IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock Car career on Saturday at Arlington Raceway. The checkers were his eighth in 15 starts this season and already his sixth of 2022 at the big Sibley County Fairgrounds speedplant. “It was pretty special. I was surprised when I got my 100th win, let alone my 200th,” said the Brewster, Minn., driver, who celebrated with his family afterwards with dinner at Applebee’s. “I can remember when I started racing and it was hard to get one win.”  “I’ve learned that experience and a good car maintenance program are keys to getting wins,” he continued. “I think racing two or three times a week and racing at different tracks makes you a better driver than racing once a week at the same track. The more you race, there’s always something new you [Read More]

Night two of IMCA Wild West Shootout sees James, Roberts, Pearce hit Coos Bay paydirt

by Ben Deatherage COOS BAY, Ore. (June 20, 2022) – Round two of the 2022 IMCA Wild West Shootout fired off on Monday and Coos Bay Speedway was once again the track to host the action. The same three Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing divisions were in attendance from the previous evening. They included the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods.  Despite several cautions, the IMCA Modified main event was a barnburner. The 35-lap race started with Collen Winebarger beating out Grey Ferrando for the point. Winebarger was passed at the line on lap two but stayed near Ferrando and kept the pressure up.  Grey would feel some heat from both Winebarger and Jesse Williamson. Williamson would get around the both of them on lap nine and become the new leader. A long green-flag run developed, which allowed Winebarger to track down Williamson and overtake him on the nineteenth circuit.  The two would have a heated battle in which both of them, unfortunately, got tangled together on [Read More]
