Super Nationals nears record with entries from 26 states

BOONE, Iowa – The number of drivers already entered for the Sept. 3-8 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s is impressive. So are all the states they’re coming to Boone Speedway from, to be part of America’s Racin’ Vacation. “Our pre-registration numbers are over 500 and running ahead of last year. What’s really neat to see is the number of different states (26 so far, plus Canada and Australia) that are represented by early entries,” noted IMCA President Brett Root. “We pride ourselves on having a set of rules that allows drivers to go to any sanctioned track in the country and know they’ll be legal when they get there,” he continued. “That’s one reason why so many drivers from so many different places make Super Nationals their racing vacation every September.” The record for different states represented at Super Nationals is 27, matched most recently two years ago. “The atmosphere at Boone is a huge draw. Services are Aug. 22 for former Luxemburg promoter Rick Goral

DENMARK, Wis. – Services for former Luxemburg Speedway promoter Rick Goral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 at All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark. Goral, 63, died on Aug. 15. He’d ended a 10-year career as promoter at Luxemburg in 2011 and will be inducted into the track hall of fame this evening posthumously. He is survived by his children, Jeff (Erica) Goral, Brian Goral and Beth (significant other Jason Bomski) Goral; grandchildren Maxwell, Mollie, Samuel, Gabriella and Ava; his mother, Alice Goral; brother, Ron Goral, former wife, Catherine Goral, sister-in-law, B.J. Goral, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation is at the Cotter Funeral Home-Denmark Chapel, 536 County Road R, Denmark, on Tuesday, Aug. 21, from 3-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at the funeral home from 9-10:30 a.m. Following the Mass of Christian Burial of Wednesday, interment will be at All Saints Catholic Cemetery. Hunter Marriott counts victories at four qualifying events, including Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour features at Park Jefferson Speedway and Buena Vista Raceway, plus Night of 1,000 Stars and Bob Shryock Memorial All Star races at Hancock County Speedway. Zevenbergen makes like lightning at Thunderdome special

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 9) – Elijah Zevenbergen was fast as lightning in winning the Thunderdome feature for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars at Kossuth County Speedway. Zevenbergen and Derek Green both drew front row spots and chose to start at the back of the field for the $1,000 challenge if either could win the feature. Kevin Opheim jumped out to the early lead with a caution coming out on lap five. David Smith wrestled the lead away off the restart as Green moved into the top four spots only to see a pair of flat tires end his night. BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 11) – Following his latest visit to victory lane at Hancock County Speedway, Hunter Marriott could lay claim to a singular achievement. Marriott topped Saturday’s Bob Shryock Memorial All Star event, a fast-paced IMCA Modified 40-lapper that ran green to checkered and paid $3,000 to win. Harris Auto Racing in 12th season as title sponsor for Modified Race of Champions

BOONE, Iowa – Harris Auto Racing returns as title sponsor for an event that’s become one of the most prestigious for IMCA Modified competitors.
