Lemmens, Sobiesczyk, Mullen are Shawano winners

By Dave Buss SHAWANO, Wis. (April 24) – Hardy fans came out Saturday evening to Shawano Speedway to see Luke Lemmens, Tyler Sobiesczyk and Mike Mullen pick up IMCA feature wins. Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods led off feature action with Dylan Waldvogel and Sobiesczyk on the front row. Sobiesczyk did not let his great starting position go to waste as he stormed out to a commanding lead in the early part of the race. Waldvogel was challenged and eventually passed by John Holtger, who got close to the Sobiescyk machine on a couple of occasions but was not able to make the pass. Back in traffic, Jayden Schmidt was working his way forward in a spirited battle with Jeffrey Teske and Max Oreskovich.  Schmidt eventually grabbed the third spot with Teske fourth. After troubles in his heat race, Teske had recovered by winning the “B” main. Early on it looked like the IMCA Modified main would be the Eddie Munster show. Top side, and a little luck, take Wilkinson to victory lane

By Randy Pospishil sports@norfolkdailynews.com NORFOLK, Neb. (April 24) – Cameron Wilkinson ended in victory lane after an IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature that ended green, white, checkered Saturday at Off Road Speedway. Wilkinson used the high side of the track, along with the benefit of a caution that set up that finish, to go from fourth place with three laps remaining to first.  “We had a little luck with that caution but I found that top side because at the beginning (the car in front of me) was spinning out in front of me,” Wilkinson said. “I had bad luck there, so I got to falling back and searching for what (line) was best.”  “I finally figured out that in turn one and two I needed to go to the top, and in three and four I just needed to hit it as hard as I could … just keep the tires on and keep it as straight as I could,” he said. “When we had that caution I was like, well, we’re going to give [Read More]

By J.M. Hallas  PLEASANTON, Texas (April 24) – Steve Whiteaker won a wild one Saturday at I-37 Speedway, charging from the back of the IMCA Modified field to the front after an early spin. Seventeen cars took the green for the 20-lap feature with Raymond McSpadden from the outside row first into turn one to lead chased by Ryan Doyon, Whiteaker, Cody Tidwell and Dillon Tindall. Whiteaker got second from Doyon and was trying the high side when he made a rare mistake, looping it in turn four. While a bad break for Whiteaker, it was a good break for fans watching him charge his way back through the field. On the restart, it was Tindall getting too high in turn four and falling back in the pack while Doyon was looking low on McSpadden for the lead. Doyon got past to lead lap five with Trevor Egbert taking third from Jared Maupin. Egbert then took second from McSpadden, while Whiteaker was already back to sixth taking the spot from Talon Minten. Nezworski, Diercks top rich Davenport IMCA features

By Mike McGuire  DAVENPORT, Iowa (April 23, 2021) – Friday was Koehler Electric Season Opener at the Davenport Speedway. With extra money on the line in two divisions, the competition was intense. Frostbuster champ, middle schooler Mallicoat takes Boone foes to class in first SportMod win

BOONE, Iowa – Izac Mallicoat’s first Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod championship preceded his first win in the IMCA division by not quite two weeks.  The top driver in point standings for the four-race Frostbuster, Mallicoat won his first feature at hometown Boone Speedway on April 17, holding off Johnathon Logue. The magnitude of the accomplishment didn’t escape the 14-year-old, a baby in the stands when his father Jason was crowned SportMod champion at the 2006 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. “It was pretty exciting. It was cool to get my first win at Boone, which I think is one of the hardest tracks to win at,” said Mallicoat, an eighth grader at Boone Middle School. “I never thought I’d get my first win so soon.” Mallicoat was a grade schooler when he started racing go karts on dirt and asphalt, progressing to winged carts before getting his feet wet in a SportMod. His feature win came in his ninth start of the season.  Lonnie Hodges led early on before Mallicoat slipped into [Read More]
