Pearish prevails at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Aug. 3) – Oronogo’s Bobby Pearish thought he had it easy in The Bad Boy Mowers IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Springfield Raceway, until a lap 18 caution waved putting Arkansas hotshoe Shawn Walsh and Chris Tonoli right on his back bumper. A strong restart kept Pearish on point as he captured his second feature win of the season. Starting sixth on the grid, Pearish wasted no time in going to the front on the fast paced ¼-mile high-banked oval as a surprise Friday evening rain storm really had the track hooked up but still smooth.  While Pearish was running through the middle groove, Walsh began his charge from the 10th starting spot and then Tonoli found a quick line three-fourth’s up the race track and was closing. E3 Spark Plugs Missouri State point leader Clay Hale was riding steady as James Thompson quietly started forward progress while Pearish was hooked-up solid until a lap 18 caution flew, allowing the field to close up.  On the double-file restart, Walsh picked the low [Read More]

While Bowers paced the race early, Most began working his way from eighth starting. Most moved through the field by running alternate lines from the rest of the field. Most had moved to third before the yellow flew on lap seven. On the restart, Most advanced to second while Chad Clancy moved into the picture as he took third, after starting 11th. A few laps after the restart, Most and Bowers made contact in turn one. Most let Bowers collect himself before making another attempt at taking the lead away. Those guys started coming back to me a little bit, and my eyes got a little bit bigger, and we went after them, and we were lucky enough to pull it off.”  “Those guys” referred to in Duke’s comments were polesitter Tyler Reinhardt, Kruz Kepner and Keith Prutzman, who were all involved in the battle for the lead. Baumli dominates Joe Crist Memorial Stock Car Shootout

By Jacob Blair OSBORN, Mo. (July 26) – J.J. Baumli showed competitors from Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska the fast way around the oval in winning US 36 Raceway’s third annual Joe Crist Memorial Shootout for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.  Baumli drove away from the field following a restart late in the 30-lapper to pick up the $1,262 winner’s check. Polesitter Thomas Roberts had taken the early lead and paced the first several laps. Baumli worked the bottom of the track before settling into second. After an early caution, Baumli showed his dominance when he perfected the restart and took the lead away from Roberts. Multiple drivers had chances to move around Baumli but his restarts were too strong as the leader put several car lengths between his competitors each time the green flag came back out.  Roberts, Travis Barker and Brad Whitney all had attempts from the second position on restarts and none could figure out how to match Baumli.  Whitney, who started 10th, patiently worked his way to finish second. Taylor gained the lead early and led the rest of the way, holding off Tyler Stevens following a late restart to win the seventh annual Ed Jordan Memorial IMCA Modified main event. “I’ve won qualifiers and heat races here before but this was the first feature I’ve won at Little Rock,” Taylor said following the $2,000, 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying victory. “It seems like the last four or five races we were always one spot short and could never pull it off.” J.T Goodson, Clay Norris and Drew Armstrong rounded out the top five. Hard charger Dustin Hyde was sixth.  Taylor took the initial green from outside row two, caught Norris for the lead and led the frontrunners into traffic midway through the 30-lapper. “We were just a shade better than Tyler.
