Yarie, Arneson cash in at Outagamie Speedway

(June 21) – Mark Schuenemann paced the opening laps of the $1,000 to win IMCA Modified feature Friday at Outagamie Speedway before defending track champion Marcus Yarie came to call. Yarie took the lead from Schuenemann and set sail, going unchallenged for his first local feature win of the season and pocketing the $1,000 payday. Already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, Yarie won the green to checkered contest ahead of Schuenemann, Mike Mullen, Brian Mullen and Jerry Wilinski. Former national champion Travis Van Straten raced to the lead on lap one of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car headliner. After starting in row five, Eric Arneson worked to the runner-up position by lap five using the top groove. Arneson set his sights on Van Straten, pulling even with him on lap eight. A lap later, Arneson took the lead and never looked back, earning his first feature win of the season. Schultze scores Kossuth County IMCA Modified honors

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 20) – Ben Schultze passed Rob Hughes with two laps to go to capture the IMCA Modified feature win Thursday at Kossuth County Speedway. Schultze held the lead at the end of the first lap of the feature that went green, white, checkered before Hughes took over the top spot on lap three. Hughes drifted a little high with two laps to go coming out of the second turn as Schultze took advantage of the little bobble to slide past the leader and went onto his first victory of the season at the track. The Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods also went caution-free as Matt Looft was the early leader of the race. Looft led until halfway, when Colby Fett took the top spot and went onto his second victory of the season at the track. Daniels takes IMCA Stock Car thriller at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 19) – Josh Daniels was the winner of an IMCA Sunoco Stock Car thriller Wednesday at Stuart Speedway. Jeremy Gettler led lap one with Chris Pruitt swinging past to take the top spot on lap two, just before the caution came out. When the cars roared back to life it was Pruitt leading Gettler and Todd VanEaton through lap five. VanEaton moved to second on lap six, but at the halfway point Daniels snuck into the runner-up position. Lap 16 saw another yellow and this made for an exciting finish. Pruitt led lap 17 but as he pushed up a bit coming out of turn four, Daniels pounced and moved to the inside. After some contact in turn one, Daniels got position out front with the top four under a blanket as they came down the backstretch on the last lap. Morning thunderstorms force second postponement of Modified Madness

By Jacob Blair OSBORN, Mo. – Due to heavy morning thunderstorms, US 36 Raceway officials have canceled racing for Friday, June 21. US 36 Raceway is determined to get Modified Madness presented by St. Joseph Beverage in, and it will be rescheduled for another date to be determined. Next Friday, June 28 at US 36 Raceway is the Wayne Hicks Memorial SportMod Shootout. Karl Kustoms NorthernSport Mods will have the spotlight as they will also participate in the Shocker Chassis Six Pack Shootout. The pits will open at 5 p.m. and the grandstands will open at 6 p.m. Hot laps are at 7:30 and racing begins at 8 p.m.

SportMod Nationals postponed to June 25

BRITT, Iowa – Rain was the winner Tuesday night at Britt, as Hancock County Speedway’s $2,500 to win Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod Nationals were postponed to June 25 The MaxYield Seed-sponsored special pays a minimum of $300 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and E3 Spark Plugs Iowa State, but no track points will be awarded and top finishers from each heat advance to the $200 to win DeKalb/Asgrow Dash to determine their starting spots in the main event. Also running that evening at Britt are IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. National, regional and state points will be awarded in those three divisions. Arnold Motor Supply Midwest Madness Tour primed for June 29-July 5 run

HARLAN, Iowa – Big paydays for IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are on the line each night of the inaugural Arnold Motor Supply Midwest Madness Tour. Both divisions run for at least $1,000 to win at each show during the June 29-July 5 tour. Modified features are qualifying events for the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Minimum start money is $150 for the Modifieds and $125 for the Stock Cars. All events will be broadcast by racecastlive.com. Harris hustles to Hagerstown IMCA RaceSaver win

By Jim Haines HAGERSTOWN, Md. (June 15) – His return visit to Hagerstown Speedway ended with Jerald Harris in victory lane. Eighteenth in the main event at last month’s East Coast Nationals, Harris showed he had a good handle on the setup he needed on a super-fast sticky track as he went up high on the start and streaked to the Saturday IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car win. David Grube II and Drew Ritchey were second and third, respectively, in the co-sanctioned Laurel Highlands Sprint Series, Pennsylvania Sprint Series and Virginia Sprint Series event. Erin Statler and Harris paced the field to the initial green with Harris staying high and taking the lead with Statler right on his tail and Grube in tow. Ken Duke, Zack Newlin and Ritchey worked their way up as Grube got by Statler, but Harris stayed straight smooth and fast as traffic came into play. Bubak is perfect at Dodge City Nationals

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 15) – The Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals turned out to be a lucrative venture for Arvada, Colo.’s Jake Bubak. After topping both Thursday and Friday preliminary features, Bubak topped the Triple 8 Trucking Dash for Cash to earn the pole position for Saturday night’s 30-lap championship feature atop the Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval. He then led every lap to run his weekend winnings to $6,300 including $1,500 in lap money and the $3,000 feature winner’s share. It wasn’t as easy as it may sound, though, as Jason Martin kept the pressure on throughout and briefly slid past Bubak on a pair of occasions only to have the latter successfully counter the move. Martin first slid past Bubak in turn four momentarily after a lap four restart and then repeated the move in traffic on the 17th circuit. VINTON, Iowa – Another 23 IMCA Modified drivers have put their names on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Red River Modified Tour victories put Chris Bragg, Cory Davis and Chase Allen on the ballot. Duane Cleveland was an All Star Modified Tour winner and Kody Scholpp triumphed on the Gunslinger Tour. Braxton Yeager and Beau Speicher were winners of Memorial Weekend features at Sweetwater Speedway. Checkers flew at Legit Speedway Park’s Scrappin’ 40 for Shawn Walsh and John Hansen paced I-76 Speedway’s Dave Garmann Tribute. Wild West Challenge checkers flew for Brandon Clough at Lincoln County Raceway’s Wild West Challenge. Bubak best in Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP Nationals opener

(June 13) – The opening leg of the third annual Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals picked up right where the 2018 edition left off, with a pair of Jakes slugging it out for the Thursday night feature win atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval. This time, Jake Bubak turned the tables on defending race winner Jake Martens, battling into the lead on the 17th round and racing on to the stripe ahead of Jason Martin and Martens. “I feel like we got one taken away from us last year. We’re here to win the whole thing this time,” Bubak commented after putting himself atop the point charts and in prime position to secure a lock-in position to Saturday’s $3,000-to-win finale.
