First Off Road Speedway win for Missouri racer

(June 16) – Taylor Caldwell made the most of a visit to his hometown of Stanton this past weekend, returning to his racing roots long enough to win the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature at Off Road Speedway, in a borrowed car. “I got out of racing for about nine years until this year and John Dunklau was nice enough to let me run his SportMod this season to get back in to it,’ said Caldwell, who lives and works in Lib­erty, Mo. “I was fortunate enough tonight to put it in the winner’s circle.” Caldwell took advantage of his starting position on the outside of the front row and took control of the race early on, winning handily ahead of Jeremy and Joey Haase. Clements notches first career victory

By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (June 16) – Second-generation racer Bryce Clements scored his first Karl Chevro­let Northern SportMod career feature win Saturday night at Shawano Speedway. The win was an early Father’s Day gift for his dad Scott, a former local sportsman racer. Kaden Besaw led the early stages while Clements fell in line behind him. Clements used the out­side line to his advantage to take the lead on lap three and Kyle Raddant soon began to battle Besaw for second. Raddant eventually would get past Besaw, as would Jordan Barkholtz. The race was marred by a se­ries of late cautions but Clements survived every challenge. Multi-time track champion Eddie Muenster scored his first local IMCA Modified win of the year and Travis Van Straten brought home win number four in IMCA Sunoco Stock Car action.

Burnett is best at US 36

By Rick Staley OSBORN, Mo. (June 15) – Casey Burnett proved the fastest of 20 entries in Friday’s Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature at US 36 Raceway. Burnett battled side-by-side with Matt lent for the front spot before edging ahead. Lent ended at the runner-up and third was Chris Wright. Chad Clancy picked up his second local IMCA Modified win of the season, holding off Shadren Turner for the checkers. Brad Whitney led every lap of the caution-free IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature and Ty­ler Drueke topped the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car main event.

Richardson reels in DCRP vs. URSS Nationals prelim win

(June 15) – Steven Richardson reeled in his first career feature win atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval by wiring the field in Friday night’s second annual Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP vs. URSS 305 Sprint Car Nationals 20-lap preliminary feature. It wasn’t without a threat for the point though, as Luke Cranston closed in past the halfway point and was challenging before getting into the turn two wall. “We’ve been running here a few years now, it feel great to finally get the dub,” Richardson said in victory lane. Ryan scores second Davenport checker

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 15) – Matt Ryan captured his second Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model feature of the season Friday at Davenport Speedway. Tim Simpson and Andy Nezworski each had a shot at the lead before Ryan grabbed the point on lap four. Ryan led the remaining laps for the win. Nezworski held on for second with Rob Toland third. Chuck Hanna and Tim Simpson completed the first five. Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Modified action saw Mitch Morris take his first feature win of the season. Morris took the lead after a lap four restart. Toland drove to a second place finish followed by Ja­son Pershy, Bob Dominacki, and Greg Durbin, in that order. Twenty-five Modifieds were on hand. Cautions slowed the Hawkeye Auto IMCA Northern SportMod main. When the race was called, Keith Blum was headed to victory lane with his second win of the season. Brandon Setser was scored second with Tony Olson third. Nick Groth took fourth with Tyler Soppe fifth.

Smith is mid-season king at Outlaw

DUNDEE, N.Y (June 15) – Brad Smith was the Marion Decker Agency IMCA Modified feature winner on mid-season championship night at Outlaw Speedway. Friday night’s main event went green to checkers with Brad Smith holding off defending track cham­pion Shawn Bruce for the victory. The win for Smith was a special one as he’d suffered a severe injury during the off-season that put his racing career in jeopardy. Brandon Smith, Will Ward and Rodney Morgan filled the remaining spots in the top five.

URSS heads to Dodge City for 305 Nationals this weekend

DODGE CITY, Kan.  – One of the highlights on the 2018 United Rebel Sprint Series takes place this coming Friday and Saturday, June 15 and 16 as the Rebels head to Dodge City Raceway Park for the second annual Lubbock Wrecker Service 305 Sprint Car Nationals.” The tour will be joined by the track’s Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars for two nights of fast-paced sprint car action. Friday night’s feature payout will be at least $500 for the winner and $125 to start the finale. All non-qualifiers earn $100. Saturday night’s feature finale winner will earn a cool $3,000 and could earn up to $4,500 with lap money in play as well. Starting the twenty-four-car championship fea­ture finale will take home $600 while all non-qualifiers earn $150. Friday action will get underway at 8 p.m. while championship Saturday night will see heat races begin at 7:30 p.m. Thanks to Mother Nature’s fury, only two events have been held thus far for the URSS. Tough Clough tops Dawson County Modifieds

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (June 10) – Running away and hiding from the field in the Sunday IMCA Modified feature at Dawson County Raceway was Brandon Clough. Clough started on the outside of the front row and wasted no time in rolling to a big lead and convincing victory. Coming from the rear of the field was runner-up Cale Osborn while Jay Steffens took third. Mike Nichols was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner, Luke Wassom topped the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Jacob Olmstead collected the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod checkers.

Herrick hoists Lincoln County trophy 

By Kelly Ninas NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (June 9) – Veteran wheelman Bryan Herrick of Curtis piloted his IMCA Modified to the Saturday night feature win at Lincoln County Raceway. Herrick started on the outside of the front row, took the lead on the first lap and never looked back. Put­ting the pressure on Herrick for much of the feature was eventual runner-up Brandon Clough. Jamey Kennicutt was the winner of the Karl Chevrolet Northern Sport Modified feature as he held off all challengers during the waning laps after his big cushion was extinguished by late cautions. For the second week in a row, Casey Woken scored the victory in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Jacob Hagan rocketed to the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock victory and Daryl Cauffman powered his way to the Mach-1 Sport win.
