Keltner returns to CJ Speedway as new promoter

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (Jan. 30, 2024) – The track where Dan Keltner started his IMCA racing career is the same track he’ll start his promotional career. Keltner takes charge at CJ Speedway in Columbus Junction, where Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods will run on Friday nights. “Columbus Junction is my home track,” said Keltner, from nearby Grandview. “It’s where I went to my first race and it’s where I started racing. It went through an incredible transformation under (former promoter) Larry Richardson. He’ll be a tough act to follow but I want to continue what Larry accomplished here.” Opening night at the 4/10-mile dirt oval is April 26. Six dates at three tracks on schedule for inaugural Arizona IMCA Tour

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (Jan. 25, 2024) – Four IMCA divisions see action each night of the inaugural Arizona IMCA Tour. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods race for $1,000 to win each night Feb. 9 and 10 at Central Arizona Raceway in Casa Grande, Feb. 16 and 17 at Mohave Valley Raceway and Feb. 23 and 24 at Cocopah Speedway in Somerton. Modified winners become eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, Stock Car winners for the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational. New regional title sponsor B & B adds to point funds for IMCA Hobby Stocks

BELLE PLAINE, Minn. (Jan. 24, 2024) – An expanded sponsorship role with IMCA takes B & B Racing Chassis and owner Paul Burger back to the division where they got their start in dirt track racing. New Clayhill sanction builds racing bridge for IMCA STARS Mod Lites

VINTON, Iowa (Jan. 16, 2024) – Another four IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers earned B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility, with wins over the course of Cocopah Speedway’s IMCA.TV Winter Nationals. Zane DeVilbiss won three of those series events in Arizona, Cole Czarneski, Cameron Starry and Justen Yeager one each. Braaksma, Hibdon, Mills become Fast Shafts eligible with Arizona wins

VINTON, Iowa (Jan. 16, 2024) – Their early season wins have earned Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility for three Friesen Performance IMCA Modified drivers. Ethan Braaksma and Kollin Hibdon both won two IMCA.TV Winter Nationals events and Jeremy Mills won for the first time in his career at Cocopah Speedway during the season-opening special series. Chaz Baca, also a two-time winner, and opening night winner Chris Zogg were already qualifying eligible. Memorial service for John Fose is Saturday

WaKEENEY, Kan. – A memorial service for John Fose, IMCA Stock Car national champion in 1990, will be held Saturday, Dec. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Schmitt Funeral Home in his hometown of WaKeeney, Kan. Fose died Wednesday at the age of 67. If attending the memorial service, the family requests you wear anything racing, wrestling, or football-related. Friends and well-wishers are invited to share their memories and words of support by writing in the guest book, ensuring that John’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the WaKeeney Wrestling Club. Contributions can be sent to Schmitt Funeral Home at 336 North 12th Street in WaKeeney, 67672. $100,000 in contingencies awarded to IMCA drivers in 2023

VINTON, Iowa (Dec. 21, 2023) – Their on-track accomplishments earned IMCA drivers some $100,000 worth of contingency awards in 2023. “The combination of sign-up programs, and programs with individual and unique requirements continue to benefit IMCA drivers at a record pace,” noted IMCA Marketing Integration and Sponsorship Director Carson Becker-Gramm. “I strongly encourage award recipients to take advantage of these programs, and to continue their support of the businesses that support IMCA.” Awards were presented at the IMCA national banquet or mailed earlier in December from the IMCA home office. Sale of Dakota Classic Modified Tour announced

MANDAN, N.D. (Dec. 5, 2023) – Dakota Classic Modified Tour owner John Gartner has agreed to sell the long-time running series to a promoters’ governing group that represents the six tracks currently hosting the tour. The tour for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars will be held during the previously agreed upon dates next July starting with Jamestown Speedway on Saturday, July 6; Nodak Speedway in Minot on Sunday, July 7; Estevan Motor Speedway on Monday, July 8; Williston Basin Speedway on Tuesday, July 9; Southwest Speedway in Dickinson on Wednesday, July 10; and Dacotah Speedway in Mandan on Thursday, July 11. No significant changes are planned to be made with tour payouts, fees or procedures. The governing group will be selecting a tour director/promoter at some point in the future.
