Freedom 40 and $1,000 to win for Sprint Series of Oklahoma this Friday night 

By David Smith, Jr. MEEKER, Okla. – It will be a night of firsts this Friday, July 14 for the Sprint Series of Oklahoma presented by Smiley’s Racing Products. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Series makes its way to Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker for the makeup-running of the Freedom 40 rained out back on June 30. Contributions to the purse, to the tune of $1,500, has been added to make this the largest purse in the two-year history for the series with Friday night’s feature winner earning $1,000. Just to start the 20-car feature pays $275. A full night of heat races, last chance and the 40-lap feature finale will be on tap, the most laps ever run the series. Anderson wins JB Life Hobby Stock special

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (July 6) – Shannon Anderson took full advantage of drawing the pole position, led the whole race and went onto take the $1,000 first place winnings in the JB Life IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock Special at the Kossuth County Speedway on Thursday, July 6. Anderson built a big lead after a pair of early caution flags before Chanse Hollatz slowly reeled in the Des Moines driver. But after the yellow flag again flew with three laps to go, Anderson regained control for his fifth feature win of the summer at the track. IMCA Modifieds race for big checks during I-30’s Ed Jordan Memorial Weekend

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A pair of 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events fill the card for I-30 Speedway’s Ed Jordan Memorial Weekend. The Friday, July 21 Preliminary feature for IMCA Modifieds pays $1,500 to win and a minimum of $150 to start while the Saturday, July 22 Ed Jordan Memorial pays $2,500 to win and a minimum of $250 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region, Allstar Performance State and track points will be given both nights. If paid by July 19, the $125 entry fee for the weekend includes the driver’s pit pass for both nights. Grandstand admission for adults is $5 on Friday and $10 on Saturday. Kids ages 6-12 get in for a buck when accompanying a paid adult and youngsters five and under are free both nights. Pit passes are $25. Pit gates and the grandstand open at 5 p.m. both nights. Kay doubles down Friday at Farley

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (July 7) – A big crowd turned out Friday as Farley Speedway hosted Driver/Fan Appreciation night. Justin Kay scored his third clean sweep of the season at the Farley Speedway Promotions tracks by winning both the Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model Feature and the GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Modified main event. Kay overtook early leader Nick Marolf and set sail to score an impressive 25-lap Late Model fea­ture win. Kay raced with Tyler Bruening for much of the main event before opening a late ad­vantage of approximately 10 car lengths. Bruening took second ahead of Dan Shelliam. Kay’s win in the Modified feature was certainly not easy as he was challenged throughout the 20-lap feature. Kay passed early leader Mitch Manternach on lap eight and then had to fight off the late-race challenges of Mark Schulte to score the win. Richards sizzles at Thomas County

COLBY, Kan. (July 7) – Terry Richards put in a dominating performance as he led every lap of night two of the Summer Sizzler Week for the United Rebel Sprint Series at Thomas County Speed­way. The 25-lapper ran green to checkered. Jake Martens charged past Scott Rhoades for second at the halfway mark and began reeling in Richards but fell short of reaching his back bumper. The win was Richards’ URSS first. Zach Blurton made a late-race charge of his own to capture third, followed by Rhoades and Mark Walinder to complete the top five. Thirty-one cars vied. United Rebel Sprint Series conclude Summer Sizzler Tour this weekend 

COLBY, Kan. (July 7) – With night one of the Summer Sizzler Tour in going to Nebraska’s Toby Chapman, United Rebel Sprint Series drivers are preparing to finish out the four-race series with the final three races this weekend in pursuit of the $1,000 winner’s share for the overall champion­ship. Tonight (Friday) the Rebels make their appearance at Thomas County Speedway in Colby, Kan., after being rained out there earlier this spring. A great field of cars are expected for this event as, along with the URSS regulars, there will be a good contingent of Colorado, Nebraska and Okla­homa cars to begin the three-day run. IMCA Modified main pays $1,000 to win Saturday at Idaho Falls 

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho – IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and a spot on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot this Saturday at Idaho Falls Raceway. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Regional, Allstar Performance State and track points will be awarded at the July 8 show. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. Hot laps and racing follow the 6 p.m. drivers’ meeting. Lawson blisters Langley for Virginia Sprint Series victory 

By Jim Haines HAMPTON, Va. (July 1) – On a hot Saturday evening at Langley Speedway, rookie Bronzie Lawson found the way to the front of the Virginia Sprint Series field and stayed there for his first IMCA RaceSaver win. Mike Leraas and Mike Keeton paced the field to feature green and raced that way for a lap before Leraas edged away with Jerald Harris on his tail. Harris went high and into the lead, leaving Leraas to deal with Keeton as Lawson worked his way up to fourth. Harris streaked away until he misjudged lapping a car, ending both their nights against the wall. Lawson restarted third and quickly got by Keeton for second. Kansas Thunder Series opens 2017 season

By Mike Hughes STOCKTON, Kan. (July 2) – The Kansas Thunder Series opened its 2017 race season Sunday evening, July 2, at Rooks County Speedway. In the IMCA Modified main event, David Murray Jr. took the lead from Kaid Calhoon on lap three and drove away for the feature win. Daniel Gottschalk held off Mike Petersilie for the runner-up spot, with Tyler Sutton and Calhoon rounding out the top five. Casey Woken led all 12 laps in the caution-free IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event. Kyle Pfeifer was second, followed by Tanner Portenier, Robert Rutherford and Jason Davis. Dakota Sproul led all 12 laps to win the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature, which finished under caution. Chapman sprints to Battle at Belleville IMCA RaceSaver win

BELLEVILLE, Kan. (July 3) – Toby Chapman used the pole starting position to his advantage as he led every lap of the Battle at Belleville Saturday at the Belleville High Banks. The $1,000 checkers came on opening night of the Summer Sizzler Tour and were the United Rebel Sprint Series career first for Chapman. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event was co-sanctioned by the Sprint Series of Nebraska. Chapman jumped out to the early lead over Blain Peterson. Tenth starting Jason Martin made a bold move on an early restart to take over second and began waging a race-long battle with Chapman. Darren Berry was pressuring Martin by lap nine. Hard-charging Ty Williams rocketed through the field and was up to fourth before contact with another car sent him pitside and brought out the final caution on lap 13.
