IMCA Hobby Stock Showdown set for Friday at Hancock County 

BRITT, Iowa – Hancock County Speedway hosts the $1,000 to win Friday, July 7 IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock Showdown. A minimum of $100 will be paid to start and all other regular weekly divisions will be on the program. The Showdown will be broadcast on IMCATV. Pit gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. Racing follows 7 p.m. hot laps. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $5 for stu­dents, seniors and veterans, and free for kids 12 and un­der. Pit passes are $25. Taylor becomes first Nevada driver to win Wild West IMCA Modified Shootout feature

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. (June 30) – Round seven of the Wild West IMCA Modified Shootout saw a sixth different feature winner. Wade Taylor became the first Nevada driver to win a series event and put his name on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot as well Friday at Willamette Speedway. Taylor drew the pole and had the field covered from the start of the 35-lap main event. He took the $1,000 checkers ahead of Jesse Williamson and Bricen James. Cory Sample and John Campos rounded out the top five. Taylor is the 19th different driver to win a tour feature and the sixth different winner in series his­tory at Willamette. Hurst, Merfeld are big winners at Dubuque

By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa (July 2) – A large crowd turned out for the Sunday night racing action as the Independence Day Holiday kicked into gear with plenty of exciting wheel to wheel action. The final race of the night featured the Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models and Jere­miah Hurst proved to be a man on a mission as he quickly worked to the front from his eighth start­ing position. Hurst broke out to an early lead and was well ahead of the pack when a caution on lap 17 brought the field to his rear bumper. Justin Kay was looking to repeat last week’s heroics with a late-race run to the win but Hurst proved to be up to the challenge taking a two car length win over Kay. URSS Rebels join Sprint Series of Nebraska for Battle at Belleville

BELLEVILLE, Kan. – The United Rebel Sprint Series and the Sprint Series of Nebraska will com­bine for a dual-sanctioned show at the Belleville High Banks on Monday, July 3 for the first of four races in the URSS’ Summer Sizzler Week. Williamson makes sun set on Shootout foes

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. (June 28) – A three-time champion of the Wild West IMCA Modified Shootout got his first win of the 2017 tour Wednesday at Sunset Speedway Park. Jesse Williamson caught Collen Winebarger on the 19th lap, making up distance after Winebarger had gotten into heavy lapped traffic, then led to the $1,000 checkers. Williamson, already a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot candidate, went on to the win ahead of Winebarger, Ethan Dotson, Aaron Elwess and Bricen James. The main event went non-stop and all 20 cars that started the race were still running when the checkers flew. Winebarger had started from the pole and remained in charge up front before catching up with the back of the field. Williamson maneuvered through traffic to pressure then pass Winebarger. The victory was his career third at Banks and tour leading ninth overall. The fifth different winner in as many Shootout events this year, Winebarger was tour champion in 2012, 2013 and 2015. Opening night for newly-sanctioned Bronco Motor Speedway is Friday

CLEVELAND, Texas – IMCA Modifieds will have another Friday night home in Texas beginning this weekend at Bronco Motor Speedway. Pit gates open early for out-of-town drivers traveling to the June 30 show at Cleveland. The grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m., hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 8 p.m. Bronco is part of IMCA’s Razor Chassis South Central Region. Season championship night is Sept. 22. “There are a lot of IMCA Modified drivers in this area,” said speedway owner Jerry Brown. “They have been asking about sanctioning since I bought the track.” Promoter is Mike Cannon, whose family built the track 20 years ago. “We want to give Modified drivers in the area another Friday night option,” Cannon said. “I can remember when area tracks had full fields of Modifieds. PORT ROYAL, Pa. (June 24) – Darren Miller wired the field in the 18-lap Pennsylvania Sprint Se­ries main event for the first win of his career Saturday at Port Royal Speedway. Jeff Miller raced into second early from the sixth starting spot and kept the leader honest the en­tire distance of the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car headliner. Noteboom notches another Modified win at Park Jeff 

JEFFERSON, S.D. (June 24) – Saturday’s SignMasters IMCA Modified division saw Jay Note­boom put another notch in the belt between himself and Ron Luitjens as he picked up win number 52 for his career at Park Jefferson Speedway. Noteboom currently sits second in overall feature wins in all divisions at 68, just five behind Joe Kosiski. Bob Moore had strong run to second and Jason Schneiders turned in a strong third place fin­ish. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars were once again a quick an easy win by Colin Smith.
