IMCA Modifieds chase $1,250 checks at Batesville’s Arkansas Spring Nationals

BATESVILLE, Ark. – A pair of $1,250 to win features for IMCA Modifieds are on the card for the Friday and Saturday, March 17 and 18 Arkansas Spring Nationals at Batesville Motor Speedway. Both Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying events pay $1,000 to the runner-up. Minimum start money is $150 and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region, Allstar Performance State and track points will be awarded. Pre-entry fee is $50 each night or $75 at the gate. The grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m., hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. each night. Spectator admission is $10 for adults and free for kids ages 14 and under. Pit passes are $30. IMCA Modifieds begin hunt for Canyon Speedway Park title

By Tony Steele PEORIA, Ariz. – Through most of the winter racing at Canyon Speedway Park, it was the out-of-towners flexing their muscles in the premier IMCA Modified division. Jason Wolla swept both Winter Challenge events while Spencer Wilson and Hunter Marriott split victories during the Arizona Modified Tour. Marriott took another win in the preliminary night of the Desert Classic until finally a local in Chaz Baca Jr. brought home a win for the Arizona boys as he took home $3,000 in the 40-lap Desert Classic feature. One of the largest storylines of the year at CSP will begin on Saturday, March 11 as the IMCA Modifieds start their season-long journey toward the crowning of a champion. IMCA Modifieds open Perris Auto Speedway season on Saturday

PERRIS, Calif. – Perris Auto Speedway will continue its opening nights this Saturday, March 11, when IMCA Modifieds take to the track for the first time in 2017. Saturday’s race will be the first of eight IMCA shows at The PAS in 2017. Sprint Series of Oklahoma opener set for March 25 at Ardmore

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – In just three short weeks, the Sprint Series of Oklahoma will open its 2017 season at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore on Saturday, March 25. This IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event will also be race number two for the Sprint Series of Texas. Defending national and inaugural series champion Andy Shouse will be back to defend his crowns while series runner-up Joe Wood Jr., who fell just 21 points behind Shouse in the final series standings, looks to garner championship honors this season. IMCA Modifieds race March 9, 10 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The half-mile Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway hosts a pair of $750 to win events for IMCA Modifieds next Thursday and Friday, March 9 and 10. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded both nights. Features pay a minimum of $75 to start with $50 paid to non-qualifiers. There is a $20 entry fee each night. RACEceivers and transponders are required. World of Outlaws and West Coast USAC Sprint Cars are also on the weekend card. Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. both days. Modified hot laps are at 7:15 p.m. Thursday and at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.

Clay County Fair Speedway moves to Sunday night racing

SPENCER, Iowa – The tradition of IMCA racing will continue this summer with Sunday night action at the Clay County Fair Speedway. Ten dates are on the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing weekly schedule this summer. Special events will include two fair dates, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock and Stock Car specials, and a stop by the Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds in August. Sunday June 4 will kick off the speedway’s third full season, which will run weekly through Aug. 13. No doubt about it, Doughty is fastest in Sprint Series of Texas opener at Winona

WINONA, Texas (Feb. 25) – Any lingering questions Tucker Doughty might have had about the start of his 2017 season were answered when the Sprint Series of Texas opened Saturday at Rose Bowl Speedway. Doughty led the last half of the IMCA RaceSaver main event to earn $1,000 for his career-first SST victory. “It had been a really long off-season,” said Doughty, who had been injured in a traffic accident in December and needed nearly 60 stitches in his right leg. “It was a great way for us to start the season.” He had finished seventh in the season-opening Smackdown special at Lone Star Speedway on Feb. 11. “It had definitely crossed my mind how (the accident) would effect my racing but after we knocked the cobwebs off at Kilgore we were ready to go,” Doughty said. “My dad Sean is my crew chief and he had the car ready.” Austin Mundie, Dale Wester, Chip Graham and Brad Queen completed the top five at Winona. MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Sprint Series and the Beer Hill Gang are happy to announce the Beer Hill Cup Summer Series. The series will be six races featuring IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car teams, at Williams Grove Speedway April 28, May 26 and Aug. 18; at Port Royal Speedway on Aug. 5; at Susquehanna Speedway June 8; and at Path Valley Speedway on July 15. Points will be accumulated using the IMCA 40-point system and an overall champion will be determined on Aug. 18 at Williams Grove. Dacotah Speedway hosts March 11-12 safety and officials training session

MANDAN, N.D. – Dacotah Speedway will host a safety and officials training Saturday and Sunday, March 11-12 at the Baymont Inn & Suites in Mandan, N.D. This two-day training session will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday with a full day of fire and safety training presented by Jay Masur of Med Star Dirt Track Rescue. This fire and safety training will be an in-depth presentation on dirt track safety, rescue, extraction, fire suppression, medical management, pre-race event planning, crew performance during races and post-race analysis. Purpose of this presentation is so attendees will leave with baseline knowledge of the components necessary to save a racecar driver’s life.
