Reed in right place at right time for PASS win at Clinton County

MILL HALL, Pa. (Aug. 26) – Reed Thompson was running third at the right time in Friday’s Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature at Clinton County Motor Speedway. Tylor Cochran had moved right on the back of leader Scott Lutz with two circuits to go in the 20-lapper for IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Cars. The white flag was out and going into the second turn, the two made contact with Lutz rolling and Cochran spinning. The incident handed the lead over to Thompson, who hung on through a green, white, checkered finish. “I do not like to win races that way. Reeser sprints to Port Royal checkers

PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Aug. 27) – Once he got to the front, there was no catching Tyler Reeser in Saturday’s Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature at Port Royal Speedway. Drew Ritchey drove from his fourth starting spot into the lead on the fourth lap of the 18-lap main event for IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Cars, overtaking Scott Ellerman for control. Ritchey threatened to run away for his first-ever oval victory but a caution bunched the field and placed Jeff Miller and Reeser on his tail for the restart. Reeser pounced on Miller for second at the new green and then blasted past Ritchey for control a lap later. Reeser then pulled away to his second win of the year at the track. 
Miller then also got around Ritchey for second.

Deeke, Maas among winners at Eagle

(Aug. 27) – Championship Night at Eagle Raceway saw five-year class veteran Dana Deeke win his first local NAPA IMCA Northern SportMod main event. “The track tonight, with the corrections we made, had me very good tonight,” he said. “It was nice and smooth. I really enjoy racing here. The competition is always great.” R.J. Maas was also a first-time winner at Eagle, in the Mountain Dew Kick Start IMCA Sport Com­pacts. “Finally! We had a good track tonight, nice and tacky,” the outside row four starter said. “It was amazing. I started moving up, then when I got to third I started to reel in the 11H (Nick Morris). When he dropped out I started checking the scoreboard to see how many laps were left.” Dustin Andersen topped another Kaplan University IMCA Modified feature. Jason Martin started 12th and finished first in the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car feature. Chad Fegley was first across the stripe in the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock main event.

Voss Memorial win worth $1,000 to Zevenbergen  

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 27) – Elijah Zevenbergen led from start to finish to pick up the $1,000 winner’s check at Arlington Raceway’s Joe Voss Memorial for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars Saturday night. Zevenbergen had strong challenges, first from Chad Schroeder and then from Derek Green. Green suffered a flat tire and went into the work area on the red flag that waved after Adam Re­vier got too high on the backstretch, went over the cushion lost control barrel rolled several times down the track. Revier was OK but his car was damaged. After that restart, the race was all Zevenbergen. Matt Speckman worked behind him but had to settle for second ahead of Dean Cornelius. Green made his way back up to fourth. Wisconsin traveler Shawn Wagner finished fifth, earning the hard charger bonus plus a new front bumper by passing 12 cars. Eckrich tops season championship night feature at Farley 

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (Aug. 26) – Casey’s General Stores presented the season championship races Friday at the Farley Speedway with Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models headlining the night’s racing action. The feature was red flagged following an incident in turn two that saw the cars of Ben Seemann and Becky Roth tip over. Seemann rode out a double flip while Roth came to rest on the side with all four wheels off the ground. Both drivers were OK. When the race took the green on the restart, the race went caution-free to the checkered flag. Andy Eckrich took over the top spot from Kip Siems as the race closed in on the 10-lap mark. Eckrich went on to record the win with Ryan Dolan and Jeff Aikey taking second and third. Eckrich stated in victory lane, “We came up here tonight to try some changes for the Yankee. Familiar faces in winner’s circle at RPM Speedway

By Mike Hughes HAYS, Kan. (Aug. 27) – It was all familiar faces in the winner’s circle at RPM Speedway Saturday evening. In the Gib’s Auto Supply IMCA Modified feature, Jimmy Reeves jumped out to the early lead in the 20-lap event but gave way to Jesse Richter on lap three. Richter and Reeves were back and forth up front as Corey Lagroon made up ground at the top of the track and took the lead on lap 14. Clay Money dove under Lagroon in turn four coming to the white flag and held on for his second RPM Speedway win this year in the caution-free race. Kyle Rohleder finished third behind Lagroon. By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (Aug. 27) – Kaleb Roach pocketed the $1,000 winner’s share in the third annual IMCA SportMod Mayhem special at Dodge City Raceway Park. Roach battled past Dustin Daniels with just seven laps to go in the 30-lapper and held on the rest of the way to earn victory honors. Roach and Daniels started from the front row and battled throughout for the top spot, exchanging the lead several times along the way before Roach took command for keeps on the 23rd circuit. Veteran Corell tops Jamestown Modifieds 

By Michael Savaloja The Jamestown Sun JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Aug. 27) – John Corell dazzled late to win his second Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature of the week Saturday at Jamestown Speedway. Corell went from fifth to first over the final nine laps on a smooth, multiple-lane racing surface. The 61-year-old Jamestown native was racing $2,000 richer after claiming victory last Sunday during the Sanders Mod Tour Challenge in Glyndon, Minnesota. “The track was racy. It was fun,” Corell said. “I don’t know what was going on behind me, but I’m thinking they probably had a good show going on back there too.” Corell passed Jarrett Carter, Rusty Kollman, Greg Friestad and Eric Edwards during the final nine green flag laps. Wilinski repeats at Shawano 

By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (Aug. 27) – A big crowd of fans and competitors were on hand for Seubert Calf Ranches and Charter Communications Saturday at Shawano Speedway. Sixteen-year-old Konnor Wilinski scored his second straight and third overall Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature win. Travis Van Straten outdueled Brandon Czarapata to win his 10th local IMCA Stock Car feature. Lucas Lamberies made a last-lap pass on Wyatt Block for his seventh Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod win. Wilinski ran three wide with Shawn Frelich and Marcus Yarie before gaining the Modified lead on lap 12. Yarie took a look outside on the final circuit but Wilinski was not to be denied. The third different leader, Van Straten ran the last five laps with 15th staring Brandon Czarapata on his back bumper. Block led most of the distance in the SportMod main before relinquishing the front spot to Lamberies.

Season championship night win to Holliday at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (Aug. 27) – West Liberty Raceway hosted season championship racing on Sat­urday night with the iWireless IMCA Late Model division headlining the program. The 25-lap main event saw Chad Holladay advance from his fourth row start and sail on to the victory in the caution-free feature. The win for Holliday put an exclamation point on his 2016 Late Model track championship. Andy Eckrich ran a strong race in taking second ahead of Jeremiah Hurst. The Performance Concepts IMCA Modifieds closed out the regular season with Brad Dubil scor­ing his second win in the last month in the very tough class.
