Boone checkers fly for Dickerson 

BOONE, Iowa (June 11) – Russ Dickerson took charge by lap five of Saturday’s 20-lap main event for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds and drove to his first win this season at Boone Speed­way. Dickerson started eighth and was content to let the others duke it out behind him.  He took the checkers by a comfortable margin. Denny Pittman held back point leader Mike Van Genderen until the final lap, when Van Genderen surged past to finish second, Pittman taking third.  A close fourth went to defending track cham­pion Jimmy Gustin, and Matthew Meinecke was fifth.  The race went caution-free after an initial no start. Rookie Cody Gustoff took advantage of his pole starting position, jumping to the immediate IMCA Sunoco Stock Car lead.  Craig Carlson, who had started right behind Gustoff, began pestering him and took over as leader at lap six. Wolla checks out in Dacotah feature

MANDAN, N.D. (June 10) – Jason Wolla made Friday’s Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified fea­ture at Dacotah Speedway a race for second place as he led all 25 times around the oval. Wolla pulled away quickly as John Corell had his hands full trying to hold off Marlyn Seidler for second. The low line was the fast line as Tracy Domagala tried to find a way around Drew Christian­son for fourth. As Wolla started catching lapped traffic with 12 laps to go, Domagala passed Christianson for fourth place. While racing for sixth place, Donald Robinson got into Travis Ulmer, bringing out the caution with eight laps to go. However, Wolla pulled away once again on the restart. Point leader Seidler passed Corell for se­cond, bringing Spencer Wilson with him. Wilson, working in the highline, passed Seidler with four laps to go. Olson checks out, then cashes $2,000 Davenport SportMod Challenge check

DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 10) – After checking out, Tony Olson was $2,000 richer after winning Friday’s Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod Challenge at Davenport Speedway. Olson didn’t just win, he dominated the 50-lap main event after taking the lead from Wisconsin’s Brandon Schmitt on lap 10. Even in lapped traffic, Olson held a straightaway lead over the rest of the field. Another Wisconsin racer, Jeff Steenbergen, moved up to second and held that spot for more than 30 laps before yielding to Illinois hotshoe Tony Dunker late in the race. Dunker wound up with the runner-up position with Steenbergen holding on to third. Minnesota racer Jared Boumeester was fourth while “B” qualifier Dalton Simonsen rounded out the top five. In Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model action, Justin Kay chalked up another victory. He also became the first driver in the division to score two wins at Davenport this season. Burbridge scores win before rain hits Farley

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (June 10) – Racing action went on Friday night at Farley Speedway although the race program was cut short by Mother Nature. The GSI Collision Specialties IMCA Modified feature took to the track as a cold front hit the track. Drivers waged a furious 20-lap feature with the lead pack swelling to four contenders through the midway point. Mike Burbridge drove a flawless race in scoring his first Farley Speedway win of the 2016 sea­son. Burbridge received constant pressure from veteran Jerry Luloff and rookie Austin Moyer. Luloff took second by less than a car length ahead of Moyer. As Burbridge took the checkers the sky opened up and the Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model feature had to be postponed. Brown dominates at Atchison County

(June 10) – Derrick Brown put on a pair of dominating performances, winning both his heat race at Friday’s Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature at Atchison County Race­way. Brown pulled ahead early and never looked back on his way to his first win of the year at Atchison. Rodney Schweizer ended the night second with big mover Steven Bowers Jr. third. Nicho­las Carpenter raced his way to fourth with Matt Richards rounding out the top five. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars again proved the quality of the class at Atchison County Raceway.  Josh Steele held the early lead until Brad Whitney passed on the high side. Whitney led until Greg Keuhn dove to the inside, racing side-by-side with Whitney for multiple laps. Keuhn pulled to the front and onto his second victory inside. Whitney ended the night second with hard charger Jim Powell Jr. third. Gene Stigall recovered from an early race mishap to place fourth and Steele was fifth.

DeFrance takes Late Model win at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 10) – Marshalltown Speedway welcomed back the IMCA Late Models Friday, for the second time this week, following up the Deery Brothers Summer Series held on Tuesday. Darrel DeFrance went home with a win on his hometown track, leading all 25 laps.  DeFrance set sail and was never challenged on his way to victory. Jerry King chased DeFrance for much of the race to finish as the runner-up.  Third place went to Paul Nagel, Justin Mitchell started 10th and finished fourth, and Curtis Glover rounded out the top five.  This was the first of eight Late Model races to be held at the High Banks this year. Beerhill Gang adds to PASS post-season point fund 

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (June 9) – One of the most iconic fan groups in racing has stepped up to sup­port the Pennsylvania Sprint Series. PASS car owner Ryan Slothower and his wife, along with driver Jaremi Hanson and Matthew Mil­ler from the Beerhill Gang organized a fundraiser at Quaker Steak and Lube in Mechanicsburg Thursday night, raising more than $1,500. PASS was looking to land a sponsor for the current race season and Slothower, Miller and sev­eral other teams got involved to quickly organize the event. The Slothower/Hanson team pitched in with numerous auction and raffle items; Brandt Cook and Zach Newlin also pitched in with auc­tion items and there were numerous other contributions by teams fans and sponsors. A check for $1,600 will be sent to IMCA which will be paid 100 percent back to the PASS points fund. This will ensure that 30 positions will be paid at least $100. Carter continues Southern Iowa Speedway streak

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (June 8) – Cayden Carter continued his winning streak in the IMCA Bud­weiser Stock Car division Wednesday at Southern Iowa Speedway. Nathan Wood led lap one but Louis Lynch wrestled it away on lap two. Lynch and Wood battled before Wood grabbed the lead back on lap four. Wood appeared to be heading on to the win when Carter chased him down and took the front spot. Wood tried to make several challenges to get by but Carter was not to be denied win number six, keeping him perfect on the regular season. Williams takes URSS win at Thomas County 

COLBY, Kan. (June 4) – The United Rebel Sprint Series made its way back to the 3/8’s mile Thomas County Speedway oval Saturday night and fans were on their feet for a classic green, white, checkered finish. Ty Williams, driving the 911 Christopher Ryan Kruse tribute IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car wired the field to take his first URSS victory of the season. Williams along with outside pole sitter Nate Berry brought the field to the green with Williams jumping into the lead and Steven Richardson, Nate Berry, Jeff Radcliffe and Luke Cranston rounding out the top five after lap one. Cranston and Radcliffe got by Berry on lap two. Lap five saw Radcliffe pull off the track with a shattered rear brake rotor, ending his promising run early. Mayden captures Cottage Grove checkers

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (June 4) – Jake Mayden was the fourth and final leader in Saturday’s Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature at Cottage Grove Speedway. Ryan Baker got off to a great start and remained in the lead until lap nine after a restart.  The driver overtaking Baker was Curtis Towns, who stayed at the point until getting collected in a wreck while dealing with lapped traffic on the 14th circuit. This gave the lead to Eric Ashley, who paced the field until Mayden made the move to get around him. Mayden then held off Ashley for his first win of the season. Kinzer Cox, dash winner Steven Sturde­vant and Tyler Smith rounded out the top five. Jorddon Braaten notched his fourth straight Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod victory. Runner-up was Daniel Ray. More than 20 bicycles were donated and given away at intermission during the Kids’ Night pro­gram.
