Worrell, Linkenhoker are twin 20 winners at Shenandoah Speedway

(Aug. 20) – Yogi Berra couldn’t have said it better when describing Saturday night’s twin 20 Virginia Sprint Series races at Shenandoah Speedway, which saw Glenn Worrell and Anthony Linkenhoker take wins again. For the second time this year after rain forced twin 20 features on May 14 and then again Aug. 20, both nights ended with the same winners. The first feature had Tony Harris and Bill Rice pacing to green with Harris out first but Worrell right behind as the low line was paying off early. On lap five Worrell had it pegged and moved to the front and he just slowly inched away for the win. Tony Harris was second and Linkenhoker third. After resetting the field it was Harris out first but Rice stayed tight this time as the whole field had made adjustments and the front bunch were changing places every corner. Suchocki wins first of season at Luxemburg

By Greg Aregoni LUXEMBURG, Wis. (Aug. 19) – Jamie Suchocki won his first IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature of the season Friday at Luxemburg Speedway. Rick Dix started up front and took the top spot for the opening two laps. Suchocki ran from position six to the front by lap three. Suchocki ran right through the middle of the speedway while everyone else ran the top and bottom. The seas parted for Suchocki on his way to the front and the veteran was never tested. Dylan Heilmann followed Suchocki to the front but once they got there he was never able to make a run at the leader. Troy Muench started coming forward but a flat tire would diminish the point leader’s race win hopes and hand the point lead over to Shawn Havel. Pruitt dominates Stock feature at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (Aug. 21) – Chris Pruitt dominated the Sunday main event for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars at Stuart Speedway. Bryan Snell and Brandon Hill brought the Stocks out with Snell leading lap one before the caution flag flew. Pruitt took advantage of the ensuing restart and blasted out to the lead with Snell and Brandon Pruitt in second and third. Brandon Pruitt made it past Snell on lap four as Chris Pruitt continued to lead. Both Pruitts left the field, and as the laps wound down Brandon began to inch closer to Chris. Brandon went low through turns one and two on lap 18, but that was as close as things got as Chris went on to take his first win at the track in two years. Miller captures first Williams Grove win

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Aug. 19) – Darren Miller led all 20 laps of Friday’s Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature at Williams Grove Speedway. Colby Dice started sixth and took over second on the third lap, but could never challenge for the win. Mike Kiser finished third, followed by Ken Duke Jr. and Tyler Reeser. Feature results – 1. Plenty of competition at Off Road Speedway

That was the case in three of the four divisions … the exception being Kyle Prauner’s run-away-and-hide ninth win in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature … with the race of the night coming in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks where Brent Jochum edged Tiffany Bittner at the finish line for his second win of the season. Although Jochum had a front row outside starting position, which allowed him to stay close to leader Cameron Wilkinson, who led 13 of the race’s 15 laps, Bittner had to make her way to the front from seven rows back but did so by the mid-point of the race. Homan is IMCA Modified hero at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 20) – Clint Homan’s first Kaplan University IMCA Modified feature win of the season at Eagle Raceway came Saturday night. He took the lead on lap nine and held off Bob Zoubek, Nathan Landauer and Rik Gropp in the race to the checkers. Shayle Bade topped the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature on her father’s birthday. The victory was also her first locally in 2016. Gary Saathoff scored his first local NAPA IMCA Northern SportMod feature win of the season while top honors in the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stocks went to Damon Richards. Winner of the Mountain Dew Kick Start IMCA Sport Compact main event was Zach Bohlmeyer. The checkers were his career first at Eagle.

Raceway Park checkers fly for Brewer

By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. (Aug. 21) – Drivers and fans enjoyed a great night of racing Sunday as Raceway Park hosted the Tom Baker Memorial Race. The highlighted division of the evening was the MOPAR IMCA Northern SportMods. Kyle Welch jumped out to the early lead only to be overtaken on the seventh lap by Karl Brewer. The race’s first caution did not come out until the 14th of 20 laps were complete. On the restart, Kirk Beatty and Darin Roepke got together between the first and second turns leading to a second attempt to finish the race. Once the green flag flew, it was Brewer all the way to the checkered flag followed by Rusty Montagne, Cameron Meyer and Kyle Welch. The Total Motors IMCA Modified division ran a fast, clean, green to checkers feature. Dan Loggins led the opening laps until being overtaken three laps in by Bob Moore. Bassett aces SportMod main at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 20) – Saturday’s Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod feature at Arlington Raceway went flag to flag with Eric Bassett at the helm the entire distance to win his first-ever feature. Tony Rialson tried to gain on Bassett but couldn’t get the job done and settled for second ahead of Eric Larson. Jeff Coon led the distance to win the MN 93 IMCA Modified main. Justin Allen took the lead following an early restart and never looked back as he led the 95.7 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car field to the finish. The B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature went flag to flag and was an awesome event. Nick Helmbrecht led the first five circuits before eighth starting Dean Cornelius motored by and motored to the checkers. Cory Probst won another Premier Logistics IMCA Hobby Stock feature and Kyren Porter topped the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compacts.

Veteran McGee scores IMCA Modified win at Lee County

By Brian Neal DONNELLSON, Iowa (Aug. 19) – Veteran Dean McGee picked up his first local Budweiser IMCA Modified feature win of the seson Friday at Lee County Speedway. Jardin Fuller used his front starting spot to grab the early lead over Levi Smith and Jerad Fuller. Action up front was slowed on lap seven when Bill Roberts Jr. and Jeff Waterman got together and spun to bring out the yellow. On the restart, Fuller got into the guardrail in turn three which allowed McGee to slip past for the top spot. While McGee started to pull away from the field, Roberts and Waterman were working their way back towards the front. By the time Roberts worked himself into the runner up spot, McGee had built a straight-away lead. Without a late race caution there was no catching McGee, as he went on to pick up his first win of the season at the track. Roberts was second and Dennis LaVeine was third. Zap zips to first Laurel Highlands checkers

(Aug. 20) – The story of the night had to have been the popular win of veteran Joe Zap, who led all 20 laps of the green to checkers main event when the Laurel Highlands IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars traveled to Hesston Five Star Speedway. Zap and Ron Aurand brought the field to green with Zap charging into the lead followed by Aurand, Greg Dobrosky and Scott Lutz with Reed Thompson and Drew Ritchey in hot pursuit. Aurand gave chase all the time as he stayed close to Zap but was not able to reel him in. Race number two of the racing weekend scheduled for Bedford Speedway on Sunday, Aug. 21 was canceled due to rain.
