By Greg Grabianowski BRITT, Iowa (June 4) – So far this season, Cody Nielsen has been the most dominant driver in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock division at Hancock County Speedway.  That trend continued on Saturday as the Spencer driver won for the fourth time in seven nights of racing at the track. Starting in the 10th position was the place to be at the start of the feature that evening as three of the five winners started in that spot and another winner started on the outside of the fourth row. Nielsen started the Hobby Stock feature in the lucky fifth row outside spot before weaving his way through cars to take yet another victory. Chanse Hollatz was the runner-up with Andrew Borchardt third. The Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature saw Ryan Ruter came from the outside of row number five to capture his second win of the season at Britt with Troy Swearington second and Cody Knecht third. Henderson wins at North Platte in borrowed car

By Kelly Ninas NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (June 4) – Saying that the racing was action packed would be an understatement when describing the Saturday Night Thunder created by the competitors at Lincoln County Raceway. Standing in the winner’s circle at the end of the evening were Colton Osborn, Henry Henderson, Jeff Whiting, Zach Olmstead and Andrew Baumgardner. One week late it seemed, but it was better later than never for Henderson in winning the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature. It seemed that one week ago Henderson was cruising to the win only to get caught in a lapped traffic accident. Fast forward to this week and Henderson was up to the task in a car borrowed from Brandon Clough as he grabbed the lead on the third lap and never looked back to win from his third row starting position. Gary Long was second and Bryan Herrick third. It took five laps for Osborn of Cozad to work through the traffic from his fourth row starting position to grab the lead, as he held that [Read More]

Droste nips Goedert for win at Dubuque

By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa (June 5) – The Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model feature thrilled the fans with plenty of exciting wheel to wheel action Sunday at Dubuque Speedway. Luke Goedert took the lead from early race leader Jerry King and appeared to be on his way to his first local win of 2016 but Tyler Droste had other ideas. Droste took the green in the 10th position and steadily worked his way to the front in the 25-lap feature that ran caution-free. Droste used both the high line and the extreme low side on his way to the front. Droste led the field under the white flag and then lapped traffic was a factor on the last circuit. Goedert ran the high line in turn four and Droste dove low and was able to get to the checkers taking the win by a mere couple of feet. Luke Merfeld came from the fifth row to take third ahead of Dan Shelliam. Ryan DeShaw scored his first feature win of the season [Read More]

Mullen captures Red Race at 141 Speedway

By Greg Aregoni FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (June 3) – Brian Mullen had to wait seven days to pick up his first feature win of the season at 141 Speedway in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. It was well worth the wait as he took home the top prize of $1,000 for the Red race win. Jay Matthias rocketed from his front row starting spot and looked early to be the man to beat until he caught lapped traffic. Matthias had to slow, which allowed Mullen to play catch up.  Mullen reeled in Mathias and used a power move down low to grab the lead for good off turn four. Mullen held off a late charge from Matthias to take home the win. Benji LaCrosse moved to third late over Tyler Wilson. Russ Reinwald finished fifth.  Mullen’s win earned him a spot on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. The second portion of the IMCA Modified show was called due to fog and potentially unsafe conditions. Modifieds will run double features next week with [Read More]
