Meyer adds to Sport Compact lead in Park Jefferson standings 

By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 29) – A quick evening of spectacular driving highlighted the Memorial Day weekend for IMCA race fans Sunday at Raceway Park. The first feature of the evening was in the KISS 107 IMCA Sport Compact division where point leader Ramsey Meyer took advantage of a mechanical glitch in the car of early leader Luke Jackson to move into the lead on the fifth lap. While Jake Newsom kept the pressure on to the checkers, Meyer held on for the win followed by Newsom and Tyler Thompson. The Car Quest Hobby Stock division ran its 14-lap feature clean from the drop of the green flag to the checkered. The early laps saw a fantastic side-by-side duel between Brody Spreng and Dave Riley, with Riley taking control of the lead coming out of the fourth turn on the ninth lap. Roberts repeats at Stuart’s Ron Little Memorial

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (May 29) – Nick Roberts flexed his muscles on the top side of the oval in racing to a second straight Ron Little Memorial Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature win at Stuart Speedway. The Sunday checkers paid $2,000 and put Roberts on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invita­tional. Roberts and Racer Hulin led the field to green for the 30-lap main event. Roberts took control early with Hulin and then Darin Duffy close behind. Roberts, Duffy and Hulin held the top three spots until Todd Shute moved into third on lap 17. A lap later the yellow would fly but that proved to be the final caution. When the green light came on again it was Roberts making the most of the higher line. Logue is best in Boone Modified main

BOONE, Iowa (May 28) – Saturday night’s racing program at the Boone Speedway beat Mother Nature, its program finishing just before the rain. John Logue, who has seen many victories over the years, took the checkers in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified division. Wayne Gifford got his second win of the season in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car class, as did Randy Roberts in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. John Watson got the win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Logue jumped immediately to the lead from his outside front row starting spot in the Modified 20-lapper. He took his ride to the topside and kept his momentum there, leading all laps to the finish and the win. Droste tops Tri-Track Challenge at Dubuque

By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa (May 29) – Dubuque Speedway hosted the Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge on Sunday night with a season-high 88 race teams taking part in the extra special night of racing. Twenty-eight Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model drivers signed in looking to capture the $2,000 first place prize money. The 50-lap main provided the fans with plenty of excitement as the lead changed hands several times before young up and coming driver Tyler Droste was able to secure the top spot with 20 laps to go. Droste broke away from a pack of race lead contenders late in the race and scored the win ahead of Ray Guss Jr. while Johnny Emerson came on strong late in the race to take third. The Merfeld Brothers Automotive IMCA Modified feature saw a pair of Dubuque drivers battle to the checkers with Jeremiah Hurst scoring the win ahead of Jason Schueller. Hurst scores first of season at West Liberty 

By Jerry Mackey WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (May 28) – Jeremiah Hurst scored his first win of the season in the iWire­less IMCA Late Model division Saturday at West Liberty Raceway. Hurst inherited the lead when the no. 39 of Rob Toland developed an engine misfire. Hurst took the lead with less than five laps remaining. Kevin Kile made a late-race charge to finish second ahead of Jonathan Brauns. Larry Herring scored his second consecutive feature win in the Performance Concepts IMCA Modi­fied class. Herring took the top spot from Jerry Luloff on lap 10 and went on to score the 20-lap feature win over Bruce Hanford and Dakota Hayden. Dalton Simonsen took command early and went on to score an impressive feature win in the Weik­ert Iron & Metal IMCA Northern SportMod division. Three repeat winners at Davenport

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 27) – Going into Friday’s races at Davenport Speedway, no driver had won more than one point paying feature this season. Now there are three. The Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Models continued their streak of different winners as Brunson Behning captured his first victory of the year at Davenport. Jay Chenoweth led the first couple laps before falling off the pace. Andy Nezworski led one lap before yielding to Behning, who led to the checkered flag. Ray Guss Jr. tracked Behning down but could only get to within a couple of car lengths. Nezworski held on for third, with Rob Toland fourth. Matt Ryan came from dead last to finish fifth. In the Eriksen IMCA Modifieds, Mitch Morris posted his second victory of the season. Chris Lawrence led the first handful of laps, with Rick Ratliff leading the next five. Elliott eludes raindrops for Marshalltown IMCA Modified win 

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 27) – A few raindrops at the Marshalltown Speedway on Friday night didn’t stop the weekly racing action. Eric Elliott went home with his first-ever Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified win at the track, Donavon Smith in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car class won for the first time in the regular season and Jared VanDeest got win number three in the Karl Chevro­let Northern SportMod division. There has been no stopping Eric Stanton in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock class, as he contin­ued his perfect season’s run, winning for the fifth time. Stanton started ninth and had the lead at lap five, keeping it to the finish for the win.  He was tailed most of the distance by Jamie Songer, who finished as the runner-up. Gary Pfantz was third, fourth went to Doug McCollough, who had started 10th, and lady racer Leah Wroten com­pleted the top five. Thornton wins again at Southern Iowa 

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (May 25) – For the first time this season, Mother Nature cooperated and South­ern Iowa Speedway got two consecutive nights in. Feature winners were Ricky Thornton Jr. in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, Cayden Carter in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Dustin Griffiths in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Brett Lowry in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Jake Benischek in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Dennis LaVeine had the Modified lead early with Andrew Schroeder running second and Zack Vander Beek and Thornton working their way through the field. Vander Beek had worked his way to the front just before a caution on lap seven. Thornton used the ensuing restart to his ad­vantage, driving by for the lead and eventual win. Can-Am Shootout passing clinics pay off for Hagen and Schroeder

WILLISTON, N.D. (May 20-21) – After putting on a pair of passing clinics, Travis Hagen and Chris Schroeder proved they knew how to stay at the front. Hagen won the Friday opener and Schroeder took the Saturday checkers at Williston Basin Speedway’s Can-Am Shootout. Both drivers earned $1,000 for their Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified victories and a berth on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational accompanied Schroeder’s checkers. Hagen was already vote eligible, having won a Can-Am show last summer. Jason Wolla was runner-up both nights, by half a car length on Friday and by two car lengths on Saturday. Hagen started 13th in Friday’s 25-lapper.
