Mather scores in Modified main at Osky 

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (Aug. 26) – A late caution preceded a green, white, checkered finish and Colt Mather’s trip to victory lane Wednesday at Southern Iowa Speedway. Andrew Schroeder wrestled the lead away from Ryan Fullenkamp early in the Musco Lighting IMCA Modified nightcap but just after the completion of lap one the caution was displayed for Ful­lenkamp and Adam Larson in turn two. Schroeder continued to lead but quickly saw Mather right behind him. Mather took the lead away on lap nine. The caution come out late, forcing a green, white, checkered but it was Mather who took his second win at Osky in 2015. Cayden Carter took second away from Schroeder following the final restart. Tyler Groenendyk finished fourth and Carter VanDenBerg was fifth. Mike Hughes took the lead from Damon Murty on lap 13 and went on to take the Budweiser IMCA Stock Car win. Brown is best on Championship Night at Dawson County 

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (Aug. 23) – The racing was for all the marbles as Dawson County Raceway hosted Championship Night on the high banks at Lexington on Sunday evening. Finishing their 2015 season with trips to the winner’s circle were Charley Brown, Josh Leonard, Mike Nichols and Jacob Olmstead. Brown drove to the point on the fourth lap and never looked back to capture the victory in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature. Brown powered past early leader Mike Densberger and cruised to the win. Working his way through the traffic, Jeremy Herbst scored a runner-up finish. Leaving no doubt while driving away from the field, Mike Nichols sailed to the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers. Nichols pulled away after every restart as he secured the victory. Wedelstadt storms at Seymour 

By Dave Panske SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 23) – After one rain delay, a track prep session and three tries at starting the race, Mike Wedelstadt was the Budweiser IMCA Modified winner at Seymour Speedway. Rain early in the day and then again right as the first feature was taking the green flag caused track work headaches. Modifieds helped work the surface back in and were bumped back later in the program. Trevor Spaulding led the opening lap. Wedelstadt took command on the second circuit and immedi­ately opened a lead on the bunched field behind.  Benji LaCrosse pulled into the runner-up and set out to reel in the leader, nearly a straight away ahead. The lone caution on lap nine set up a great battle up front.  Wedelstadt continued to lead with LaCrosse right behind. LaCrosse tried several lines to get an advantage on Wedelstadt but it wasn’t until lap 14 when he was able to pull inside and set up a five-lap, side-by-side battle with the lead going back and forth. Seventh starting spot leads to victory lane at Eagle 

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 22) – Jason Martin was one of three seventh-starting drivers to win Saturday features at Eagle Raceway. Martin passed Shayle Bade for the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car lead following a lap nine restart. Trevor Grossenbacher passed Bade for second with six to go for what proved to be the final change in the top four. Trent Roth raced from seventh starting to win the NAPA IMCA Northern SportMod feature. The victory was his second this season at Eagle. After taking the initial green from inside row four, Adam Armstrong took the lead on lap 12 of the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock feature and drove to his seventh local checkers of the season. Jeremy Bohlen’s Sam’s Club IMCA Sport Compact win came from the outside front row starting spot and was his second of 2015. Another second-time winner in 2015 was Jesse Sobbing, who raced his way from 10th to take the Kaplan University IMCA Modified checkers.

Luellen doubles up at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (Aug. 23) – Austin Luellen tamed not one but two divisions Sunday at Stuart Speed­way, topping both the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock features. Luellen took over on lap two and his brother Clint moved into second on lap three of the SportMod main. For the next 12 laps, the Luellen brothers stole the show with Clint working high and low, pulling alongside Austin time after time. Try as he may, Austin held the top line around the track and went on to the win. Clint finished second. Luellen made it to second on lap four of the Hobby Stock feature and made the pass to the front on lap six. With a SportMod win already under his belt he looked to take the hardware in a second class. Mills is the man in Raceway Park Stocks

(Aug. 23) – In the final point night leading into this upcoming Sunday’s championship finale, five drivers raced to victory lane while others tightened points races in their division. The Casey’s General Stores IMCA Stock Cars put on one of the best shows of the night with Chris Mills coming out on top of a race-long duel with Jason Ward. Jay Goosman rounded out the top three. The Total Motors IMCA Modified feature saw Chris Abelson continue his hot streak with another feature win. Behind Abelson at the checkers was Jim Thies, followed by Jason Schneiders. The Skyline Casino IMCA Northern SportMods got off to a wild start but once the cautions ended, Todd Boulware raced to the front of the pack to take the win over Karl Brewer and Darin Roepke. Wilson, Ryland are winners at Merced 

By Don Martin II MERCED, Calif. (Aug. 23) – Taking the lead from Ricky Thatcher on the third lap, Alex Wilson won the 15-lap Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event Sunday at Merced Speedway. It was the third win in the last four weeks for Wilson, who passed brother Kyle for the lead early on and took the checkers nearly a straightaway ahead of Ryan Porter. Prevailing in a late-race duel with Jason Nation, Fred Ryland won the 20-lap Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature.

Rookie reigns in Oshkosh Modified main 

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Aug. 21) – Rookie Konnor Wilinski won for the first time in his brief Automotive Supply Company IMCA Modified career Friday at Oshkosh SpeedZone Raceway. Shawn Frelich led the first two laps before Wilinski took over. Wilinski pulled away from the field while Eddie Muenster made a dash through traffic and into the runner-up spot on lap 12 as the white flag appeared with the time limit expiring. On the final lap, a caution appeared and ended the race. Muenster took the runner-up spot with Frelich third. Steve Schneider worked from the back of the field for fourth. A final five-lap sprint saw David Hoerning hold the Total Power Sales IMCA Stock Car lead with Jerry Winkler, Joe White, Travis Van Straten and Tom Brumlic doubled up behind. Van Straten took to the outside and was able to move into the runner-up spot by lap 18. Sherfick, Bencken double up at RPM

(Aug. 22) – It was a big night of racing action at RPM Speedway Saturday, with four make-up features from the rained out Aug. 8 races first up on the card, followed by a regular racing program with all five regular divisions. Dylan Sherfick doubled up on the night, winning both S & W Supply IMCA Modified features.  Brady Bencken also scored a double on the night by going to the winner’s circle twice in the Golden Plains Trucking IMCA Hobby Stocks. Nolan Remus won the crash-filled Advantage Glass Plus IMCA Stock Car make-up feature. In the reg­ular feature, Nick Tubbs put his new car in victory lane. In the Golden B Hydra Drilling IMCA Northern SportMod make-up main event, Blaine Walt charged to the lead on lap 17 to notch his first win at Hays. In the regular feature, Clay Money took the lead on lap nine and held on the final 11 laps for his fourth win at RPM Speedway this season.

Cleveland takes first win of 2015 at Salina 

By Dusty Wiegert SALINA, Kan. (Aug. 21) –Jason Cleveland took home his first trophy of the season Friday at Sa­lina Speedway. It’s been a long road for the Budweiser IMCA Hobby Stock feature winner. Cleveland was the 2014 rookie of the year but missed the last half of the season due to an accident that left him hospitalized and recovering the rest of the year. This season he quickly got faster and has become a factor for the win on many nights, leading until the last lap only a few events prior. This time he got it done, leading the way early and hold­ing off a late surge from Aaron McBride. Danny Morrison picked up a big feature win in the 1st Class Chassis IMCA Modified division. Beau Davis set the pace early and was on a rail until a caution grouped things up. On the restart Morrison slipped by and away and held off a late run by Brian Knoell for the checkers.
