Hauswirth wins Hobby Stock feature at Kossuth County 

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (July 9) – Austin Hauswirth has come close before this summer but always fell just a little short. That all changed Thursday at Kossuth County Speedway as Hauswirth won the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. It was not easy for Hauswirth as three cautions and the hard charging Shannon Anderson made things interesting. Hauswirth and Anderson went door-to-door for the final five laps but Hauswirth held on for the win. Anderson took second with Chanse Hollatz third. Jesse Hoeft grabbed the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified lead early. Only a single yellow flag de­layed his trip to winner’s circle although second place Jeremy Mills made a run in the final few laps. Point leader Tad Reutzel was third. Kay, Olson continue streaks at Davenport

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (July 10) – Justin Kay and Tony Olson both added to their local win totals Friday at Davenport Speedway. Kay captured his fifth straight feature in the Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Models but it wasn’t an easy win. Mike Zemo Jr. jumped out to the early lead from the pole. Zemo held off Brunson Behning through­out the first half of the race and slowly started to pull away. Kay finally reeled in Zemo in the closing laps and took the lead coming to the white flag. The victory was Kay’s fifth in five starts this season. Behning passed Zemo on the final lap for second. Zemo broke a gear but still finished third. Olson notched win number four in the Hawkeye Auto IMCA Northern SportMod feature. Olson went from 10th starting to first in less than two laps. Dripps, Williams take first Marshalltown wins

By Jeremy Fox MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 10) – Corey Dripps and Brandon Williams won their first Mar­shalltown Speedway features of the season Friday night. Dripps grabbed the top spot following an early restart in the Coors Light IMCA Modified main event with Eric Elliott in tow. Dripps and Elliott battled for the lead until the caution came out again on lap 10 for Colby Heishman experiencing troubles exiting the track. Dripps got a great restart while Josh Gilman and Jimmy Gustin raced into second and third, respec­tively. Dripps went on to take his first win at Marshalltown while Gustin grabbed second from Gilman on the last lap. Outside row one starter Frank Packer grabbed the early Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod lead. Packer continued to pave the away, holding off Dusty Masolini and Sam Wieben while Williams worked his way to second. Rupp rallies for BVR SportMod victory

By Steve Zwemke ALTA, Iowa (July 8) – Tip Rupp was in and out of the lead before finally securing the front spot for good in Wednesday’s Pizza Ranch of Storm Lake IMCA Northern SportMod feature at Buena Visa Raceway. Doug Smith started behind Rupp on the inside of the third row; Rupp got past John Briggs and Shane Hammen to lead the first lap. Smith then tailed Rupp until getting around him on the fifth circuit. Rupp stayed within a couple of car lengths and regained the lead on lap 10. He held off Smith as the race ended green, white, checkered to capture his third local win of the season. Chris Abelson returned to Alta in style, earning the Mark Hansen’s REX Chevrolet IMCA Modified win over Corey Dripps.  Abelson passed Dripps on the seventh lap en route to his third win at BVR in 2015. Familiar faces return to Southern Iowa Speedway victory lane 

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 8) – Familiar faces were back in a familiar place – victory lane – Wednes­day at Southern Iowa Speedway. Scott Dickey outran Colt Mather and Andrew Schroeder for Musco Lighting IMCA Modified win number two. Cayden Carter’s Budweiser IMCA Stock Car checkers were his fourth locally in 2015. Curtis VanDerWal held off persistent Logan Anderson for his seventh KBOE Radio IMCA Northern SportMod checkers. Dustin Griffiths bested the Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stocks for the fifth time. Danny Thrasher ruled as king of the hill in the class. Bill Whalen Jr. won for the third time this season at Osky in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

Nelson picks up first Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod win

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (July 5) – Colton Nelson picked up his first-ever win in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod division to end the holiday weekend at Stuart Speedway. Nelson took the early lead over Brett Vanderheiden and then Shawn Kralik, with Chase Rudolf and Arie Schouten third and fourth. A caution flew on lap 10 when Kendall Davis slammed into the front stretch wall. Davis was OK but his car was done for the night. When the green flag flew again, Clint Luellen took advantage and raced from fourth to second, but no one was catching Nelson on this night as he took his first-ever win in the class. Luellen settled for second with Kralik third, Rudolf fourth and Dusty Masolini fifth. Josh Gilman was the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified winner while Todd Cooney topped the IMCA Late Models. Nordman wins fourth feature at Hancock County

By Greg Grabianowski BRITT, Iowa (July 4) – George Nordman picked up his fourth local Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature win of the season Saturday at Hancock County Speedway. Nordman started on the inside of row three before piloting his No. 90 white rig into the winner’s circle.  Levi Chipp was second with Cody Knecht placing third in the 18-car race. Kevin Stoa was the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified winner ahead of Jesse Hoeft and Josh Ruby. Point leader David Smith captured his third local feature win in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, com­ing from inside the third row. Scott Dobel won his second feature this season at Britt in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Devin Jones was the Mach-1 Sport Compact winner.

Huls, Birck, Phillips and Abbott seal the deal at Quincy

QUINCY, Ill. (July 5) – Abe Huls, Adam Birck, Patrick Phillips and Kimberley Abbott all took IMCA feature event wins Sunday at Quincy Raceway. Huls picked up his third feature win of the season in the Powder Coat Plus IMCA Stock Car division as he grabbed the lead from Michael Larsen on the 10th lap and held off hard-charging Beau Taylor. Taylor scored second followed by Jim Lynch in third. The Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA Northern SportMods had a busy night as they started the evening’s racing action by running the completion of the rain delayed feature event from June 22. Birck captured that checkered flag followed by Austin Howes and Joey Gower. Phillips grabbed his first feature win in the scheduled event over Brandon Lennox in second and Tony Dunker in third. Abbott took home her fourth feature win of the year in the Mach-1 Sport Compact division, followed by Brandon Lambert and Spencer Coats.

Porter is photo finish winner at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 4) – Kyren Porter picked up her first Arlington Raceway won of the season on Saturday before enjoying NAPA Fireworks Spectacular Night. Porter started sixth place and had the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact lead by lap three. A yellow flag came out the next time around but she was able to hold onto the lead following the restart, winning in a photo finish over Joe Regner. There were three leaders in the MN 93 IMCA Modified feature with Jeff Coon in front early. Clint Hatlestad got around Coon following a restart; Trent Loverude traded spots with Hatlestad for the following four laps and the two jockeyed back and forth for the remainder of the race with Hatlestad coming out the winner. Ward is mid-season king at Tri-City

AUBURN, Mich. (July 3) – A.J. Ward was the fourth and final Main Street Seed and Supply IMCA Modified leader on mid-season championship night at Tri-City Motor Speedway. Rich Young led the opening lap before pole sitter Frank Evans III tried his hand at the front of the field. By lap four, Craig Vance worked his way to the lead by using the bottom groove. Vance led until lap 12, when Ward used the high side momentum to carry his machine to the point. Ward then cruised to victory for the first time in five weeks. Vance, Joe Fowler, “B” winner Myron DeYoung and dash winner Toby Steele made up the remainder of the top five.
