Van Pay is 2-for-2 at 141

By Greg Aregoni FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (June 6) – The second night in his new IMCA Modified produced the second feature win of the season Saturday for R.M. Van Pay at 141 Speedway. Van Pay took the lead from third starting on the opening circuit held off Eric Scribner late to pick up the win. The battle turned out to be for third, which went to Mike Mashl. Barry Van Straten earned his first career 141 Speedway win over Devin Snellenberger in IMCA Sunoco Stock Car action. John Heinz was right behind Snellenberger in third. Kelsy Hayes earned her second win Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod win of the season in late, dominating fashion. Hunter Parsons made a late pass for second over Brian Bruechert. Scott Johnson staved off late advances from Shaun Bangart to pick up the Mach-1 Sport Compact win. Third was Neil Watzka.

Richter starts his own streak at Dodge City

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 6) – Jesse Richter put a stop to Clay Sellard’s run of perfection in Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified action Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park. Richter slipped past Joe Cleveland on the third of 20 rounds and then held off late pressure from Cleveland and Cody Gearhart to snare his first local win of the year. Richter paced the final 18 rounds of the non-stop affair, although Cleveland made one last-ditch effort on the final lap. Working forward from 13th after winning the B feature, Gearhart took third on the white flag lap before trying to make a move for the win on the final circuit. Clay Money captured IMCA SportMod honors, Michael Pepper snared his third IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win of the season and Cody Williams took the top spot in IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks as a total of 120 cars filled the pit area. Long leads to checkers at Luxemburg

By Matt Panure LUXEMBURG, Wis. (June 5) – The Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified division at Luxemburg Speedway saw a Friday night first for 2015 with Josh Long grabbing the win. Troy Jerovetz and James Tebon exchanged the lead early in the 20-lap feature event. A spin on lap four brought out the caution and again set up a duel between them. Eventually, Tebon took the top spot and pulled ahead by a car-length. This left Jerovetz and Russ Reinwald to battle for second. Long wasted little time watching the battle and jumped right in. He swung to the inside and cruised past the battle on lap six. Two laps later he had caught Tebon and began to challenge. By lap nine Long had secured the top spot. As Long built up his lead, Shawn Kilgore and Benji LaCrosse moved toward the top five. Kilgore grabbed third on lap nine and surged past Tebon on lap 11. Bruening becomes fifth Late Model winner at Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 6) – Tyler Bruening added his name to the list of Budweiser IMCA Late Model winners Saturday night at Independence Motor Speedway. Bruening took the lead from Dirk Hamilton on the 10th of 25 laps en route to victory to become the fifth different Late Model winner in as many weeks at the speedway. Tyler Droste started alongside Bruening in the fourth row and crossed the line second ahead of Darren Ackerman. J. D. Auringer raced the high side to a convincing win in the 20-lap Performance Bodies IMCA Modified main. Auringer took the lead from Joe Docekal following a lap seven restart and then checked out on the field to take the victory ahead of Troy Cordes and Vern Jackson. In Burco Sales IMCA Stock Car action, IMCA Modified veteran Darin Duffy earned the first Stock Car win of his career in just his second night in the division. Zogg gets first Davenport win of season

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 5) – One hundred and fifteen cars and more than 250 laps of green flag racing made for a busy Friday night at Davenport Speedway. Chris Zogg finally got his 2015 season at Davenport turned around with a victory in the Milan Heating & Air IMCA Modified feature. Zogg led all 20 laps en route to the win. Justin Kay placed second in his first local Modified appearance. Milo Veloz Jr. battled his way to third place. Kay did double duty and made it back-to-back wins in the Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Models. Kay took the lead on lap 13 and never looked back. Nate Beuseling finished second and Chuck Hanna was third. Double duty was also the theme for the Hawkeye Auto IMCA Northern SportMods. Dustin Crear scored the win in the make-up feature. Familiar faces in a familiar place Friday at Marshalltown

By Jeremy Fox MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 5) – Familiar faces found their way to victory lane Friday at Marshalltown Speedway. Jared Van Deest made the top line work to perfection in topping the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main event. Travis Peterson led after midway and ended in second; Sam Wieben was third. Jimmy Gustin took charge with 10 laps remaining and earned the Coors Light IMCA Modified victory ahead of Ronn Lauritzen and early leader Adam Larson. Eighth starting Donavon Smith found his way to the front of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature field on the fourth lap. He led the rest of the way and was chased across the stripe by Michael Jaennette and Dave Atcher. Austin Luellen earned his sixth local Toby K’s Hideaway IMCA Hobby Stock feature victory of the season with Eric Stanton second and Brice Udelhoven third.

Oshkosh Modified checkers fly for Roedl

(June 5) – Making his move to the front on the 17th time around the oval, Dan Roedl raced to his first local Automotive Supply Company IMCA Modified feature win of the season Friday at Oshkosh SpeedZone Raceway. Chad Bartel held off Marcus Yarie for second place. Travis Van Straten hooked up on the outside right away and drove three wide to the lead on lap two of the Total Power Sales IMCA Stock Car main event. John Heinz moved into second but ran out of laps to mount a challenge, leaving Van Straten to collect his third feature win of the season. Third went to Larry Karcz Jr. Colten Van Hierden worked his way from mid-field and into the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod lead on lap seven. Despite several cautions over the rest of the race, he was able to hold off all challengers and pick up his second Oshkosh feature win of the season. Ryan Besaw took the runner-up spot and Jeff Schmuhl completed the top three.

Point leader Strand posts Dacotah Speedway win

MANDAN, N.D. (June 5) – Point leader Shawn Strand scored his first Xtreme Motor Sports Modified win of the season at Dacotah Speedway, holding off Marlyn Seidler and Jason Grimes for the Friday night checkers. Strand took the lead from Spencer Wilson on the seventh circuit. Grimes made the most of lapped traffic to catch up with Strand and Seidler but ran out of laps. Josh Roehrich led all 10 laps to capture his second Mach-1 Sport Compact feature victory over Chase Schlafmann and Chance Seelye. Friday was also the second night of the fifth annual Dakota Legends Tour and fans and drivers traveled from as far as Texas and Indiana come to race at Mandan. Racing in his first Dakota Legends Tour, Nelson Stewart, father of two-time NASCAR champion, Tony Stewart, was also in the house.

North Star Touring Series makes Iowa debut at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 4) – Five IMCA drivers wrote their name in the record book as winners of the first North Star Touring Series features held in Iowa Thursday night. Austin Wolf, Derek Green, Jared Boumeester, Brandon Nielsen and Nate Coopman were main event winners in front of the biggest crowd of the season at Kossuth County Speedway. Wolf took charge in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified headliner after early leader Shane DeMey got into the guardrail on lap eight. Kyle Brown ran out of laps and settled for second while Eric Dailey ended in third. After two early restarts, Green motored to the high side, took the lead from Dan Mackenthun and checked out on the rest of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field. Jake Masters prevailed in a four-car battle for second. Third went to Kevin Opheim. After taking the lead on the 10th circuit, the 10th starting Boumeester led the final five laps in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod contest. VanDenBerg scores IMCA Modified win at Southern Iowa

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (June 3) – Carter VanDenBerg picked up the Musco Lighting IMCA Modified feature win Wednesday at Southern Iowa Speedway. Scott Dickey held VanDenBerg at bay until the fifth circuit. Andrew Schroeder took away the runner-up spot before the checkers came out. The hometown track victory was the first for VanDenBerg, who’d won previously at Lee County Speedway. Fans who like frequent lead changes got their money’s worth as they saw five of them in the Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stock main event. Craig Brown and Mike Kincaid race side-by-side the final lap and it was Kincaid winning his first at Osky by mere inches at the line. Brown finished a very close second and Aaron Martin was third. Zack VanderBeek started sixth and raced to his third local Budweiser IMCA Stock Car win of the season. Twelfth starting Cayden Carter was second and 17th starting Damon Murty was third.
