Thompson tops PASS feature at Selinsgrove 

SELINSGROVE, Pa. (May 24) – Reed Thompson was the the flag-to-flag leader of the final holiday weekend Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature, Sunday at Selinsgrove Speedway. Thompson started from the pole and was chased by third starting Jordan Thomas all 20 laps of the IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Car event. Thomas raced in Thompson’s shadow every time around the track but never got the opportunity to make a pass for the lead. At the checkered flag, Thompson was victorious by just .92 of a se­cond over Thomas, Bill Jones, Stephanie Stevens and Erin Statler. Feature results –

Reeser wins again in PASS at Port Royal

PORT ROYAL, Pa. (May 23) – Tyler Reeser led the distance in Saturday’s 25-lap Pennsylvania Sprint Series main event at Port Royal Speedway. Erin Statler gave up the second spot to Jeff Miller on the fourth lap, but got the position back and mounted a challenge for the lead after a lap 11 restart. However, Reeser stretched it out to the checkers and Statler was forced to settle for second. Nathan Gramley, Scott Ellerman and Zach Newlin rounded out the top five. Coopman wins third straight at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (May 28) – Three starts have now ended in as many feature wins at Kossuth County Speedway for Nate Coopman. Coopman started on the inside of the third row Thursday at Algona before cruising to the Mach-1 Sport Compact victory with Jay DeVries taking second and Kaytee DeVries third. Nick Meyer grabbed his seventh Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature win of the season at area tracks. One of the hottest drivers around, Meyer came from inside the third row to overtake front row starters Ryan Hiscocks and Jake Simpson. Simpson was runner-up and Hiscocks finished third. Mike Jergens grabbed the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified win. Rob Hughes held on for se­cond and Kelly Shryock took third. Elijah Zevenbergen made the long trip to Algona worthwhile by winning the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature after starting 10th.  Heath Tulp and Randy Brands were next across the stripe. Brad Sites is best in Empire State Series at Skyline 

CORTLAND, N.Y. (May 24) – Brad Sites put himself in good position to capitalize on Matt Cole’s bad luck in Sunday’s IMCA Empire State Series main event at Skyline Raceway. Sites worked his way from 10th starting in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature to se­cond, trailing only Matt Cole when the leader coasted to a stop on the 22nd of 30 laps. After taking over the point for the restart, Sites led to the finish for his career third series win and first-ever Skyline victory. “I knew I had some work to do after starting 10th and was really able to start picking off cars about mid­way,” he said. “I’d finished second and third at Skyline before and it’s good to finally get a win there.” He held off a late-race challenge from eventual runner-up Jason Benjamin. Wood wins a thriller at Southern Iowa Speedway 

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (May 27) – Nathan Wood was the winner in a Wednesday night thriller for Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars at Southern Iowa Speedway. Derrick Agee and Jerry Pilcher enjoyed early turns up front before Daniel Hilsabeck settled into the spot. Cayden Carter and then Damon Murty charged ahead, only to see Wood and Hilsabeck drive by on the white flag lap. Wood edged Hilsabeck at the line to take his first win of the season at Osky. Tyler Groenendyk was the Musco Lighting IMCA Modified winner while ninth starting Curtis VanDerWal notched his fourth local KBOE Radio IMCA Northern SportMod victory of the season. Dustin Griffiths was first across the stripe in the Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stock main and Michael Grossman paced the Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

Sheppard repeats IMCA Modified sweep at Tonopah 

TONOPAH, Nev. (May 23) – Jeff Sheppard Jr.’s second visit to Tonopah this season turned out a lot like his first. The difference was that Saturday’s Jim Butler Day Classic feature for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds paid $1,000 to win and landed the Arizona long tow on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Piloting a house car as part of the Dream Racing Chassis house program, Sheppard won both his heat race and the dash for cash, then started from the pole and led all 25 laps of the main event. Cautions kept the field close throughout the feature. James Thibodeaux stayed closed after a re­start with two to go but couldn’t reel in Sheppard. Thornton dominates Arizona Speedway’s John Morris Classic

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. (May 23-24) – After extending his win streak at Arizona Speedway to five, Ricky Thornton Jr. made a beeline to the bank to deposit a pair of $1,000 checks. Thornton rocketed from mid-pack to win both nights of the third annual John Morris Classic special for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds at Apache Junction. The victories were the 15th and 16th in just 25 starts this season for the national championship hopeful. Current national and Larry Shaw Racing Western Region point leader Brian Schultz also started deep in the field and ran second each night. Thornton started 15th on opening night, passed Don Earven with three laps left and pulled away to win by four car lengths following a restart with two to go. Schauer collects first North Star checkers at Arlington 

ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 23) – Matt Schauer’s 14th career series start ended with his first North Star Tour victory Saturday at Arlington Raceway. Schauer topped the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car headliner, beating Brent Uecker and Brent Reierson across the stripe. After starting third, Schauer had the lead going down the backstretch and stayed in front until midway through the 15-lapper. After getting out of his groove, Schauer fell back to fourth. He rallied, driving between Uecker and Ken Tietz to take the lead back for good on lap 10. The win was his first in seven starts this season, and first since the 2013 campaign. Curt Lund made his first local appearance for the season, drew the pole and pulled away from the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified pack, winning ahead of Aaron Krohn and Mat Hollerich. Reisdorfer, Lonneman score first North Star Tour wins at Murray County 

SLAYTON, Minn. (May 22) – Hometown heroes David Reisdorfer and Chad Lonneman had them dancing in the streets Friday night in Adrian. Both drivers won for the first time in their respective careers when the IMCA North Star Tour opened at Murray County Speedway. Reisdorfer started from the pole and led the distance in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Dan Mackenthun tried to stay close but had to settle for second. Levi Feltman was third. Lonneman also drew the inside row one start. Cleveland, Crompe top IMCA Modified mains at Santa Maria Spring Nationals 

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (May 23-24) – Duane Cleveland led every lap on Saturday, Christopher Crompe got the lead back on the last lap Sunday and both drivers earned $1,200 for their IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature wins at Santa Maria Raceway’s Budweiser Spring Nationals. Cleveland made the long tow from northern California worth his while, starting from the pole and avoiding a late-race hiccup when a lapped car got sideways just ahead of him. Josh Vogt made up ground as Cleveland ran in traffic but had to settle for second. Roger Holder completed the top three finishers on opening night.
