Shenandoah checkers are VSS second straight for Harris

(Sept. 17, 2022) – Jerald Harris made it two Virginia Sprint Series feature wins in a row Saturday night, following his run to the checkers at Natural Bridge Speedway with the Saturday checkers at Shenandoah Speedway. The feature-only event had Caleb Harris and Bill Rice leading the field to green, with Rice out first and Harris closing in a couple laps while bringing Billy Hubbard along with him. Rice had a good line and kept them off until lap eight when Jerald Harris went high and made the pass stick. Hubbard kept working on Rice to make sure Harris didn’t get away and got a big run to second as quickly as he could. Reed snares Race to Hunting Season PASS win at Selinsgrove

(Sept. 17, 2022) – Austin Reed captured his second major race of the Pennsylvania Sprint Series season Saturday, leading from start to finish to capture the Pennsylvania Game Commission-sponsored Race to Hunting Season at Selinsgrove Speedway. The win came 2-1/2 months after Reed’s victory in the Nittany 40 at Clinton County Speedway. Those have been the two highest-paying PASS events among the 33 run so far this year. That race had featured a furious battle between Reed and Garrett Bard, but while Selinsgrove was hardly easy, nobody got alongside Reed to attempt a pass, and his final margin of victory over runner-up Josh Spicer of Julian was 1.615 seconds. The moment of uncertainty for Reed’s win came on lap 17, when Doug Dodson hit the wall in turn two, bringing out the race’s only caution and erasing a huge lead. Elston beats rain to top IMCA Late Model Drive For 5 finale

By Brian Neal DONNELLSON, Iowa (Sept. 10, 2022) – Tommy Elston outran the rain and his IMCA Sunoco Late Model competition in winning Saturday’s Drive For 5 finale and $5,000 at Lee County Speedway. The Keokuk hotshoe held off Nick Marolf following a restart late in the Iowa Corn Growers Association Photo Daddy 50-lapper. Third was Andy Nezworski. C.J. Horn jumped out to the lead over Chris Lawrence and Darin Weisinger Jr. Elston, Matt Ryan, Nezworski, Dennis Woodworth and Marolf, who all started in the back half of the front ten, battled their way towards the front. Elston took over the runner-up spot on lap eight, then went to work on Horn for the lead. Horn continued to work the top of the track following a lap 12 restart while fending off Elston over the next 10 circuits. Diamond Park to host first annual 94M Memorial: Caleb’s Legacy on Oct. 8

MURFREESBORO, Ark. (Sept. 12, 2022) – Diamond Park Speedway, along with a host of local sponsors, will host the first annual tribute to the late Caleb and Andrea McCollett on Saturday, Oct. 8, the day marking one year since their passing and what would have been his 29th birthday. Zevenbergen dominates Governor’s Cup at U.S. 30 Speedway

By Anthony Ainslie COLUMBUS, Neb. (Sept. 1, 2022) – Elijah Zevenbergen can add a new title on his IMCA Sunoco Stock Car resume: Governor’s Cup winner. Zevenbergen led the distance in winning the inaugural event and $2,000 Thursday night at Abe’s U.S. 30 Speedway. He also became the seventh different winner in as many Stock Car Crown Summer Series presented by Herbster Angus Farms events this season. Cameron Wilkinson started on the pole for the 30-lap main event but outside row one starter Zevenbergen jumped to lead. Wilkinson developed a tire rub on lap nine which brought out a caution. His team make the repairs and got him back on the track. On the ensuing restart, series point leader Kyle Vanover caught the outside wall on the back stretch, resulting in heavy suspension damage and ending his race early. Foulger, Pearce, Chadwick are IMCA winners at Antioch

By Candice Martin ANTIOCH, Calf. (Aug. 27, 2022) – Troy Foulger won the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. This was the third win of the season for the multi-time champion aboard the Bowers Motorsports-owned Modified. Jeff Browne had a front row start and took the early lead ahead of Terry DeCarlo Sr. and Brian Cass. DeCarlo spun, collecting three others for a yellow flag. Browne led Foulger and Cass on the restart. Foulger was giving Browne lots of pressure until he made an inside pass on lap eight to gain the lead. Nick DeCarlo slipped past Browne for second and challenged Foulger the rest of the way. However, Foulger prevailed at the checkered flag. Kellen Chadwick made a last-turn pass on Cass for third as Bobby Motts Jr. ended up fifth. Boone tunes up for Prelude, Super Nationals

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 27, 2022) – The forecasters had been calling for a high probability of rain in the area for days but Saturday night, Boone Speedway had just a few sprinkles. The Tune Up for the Super Nationals, the P1 Promotions Modified Challenge and the D & E Outside Services Watermelon Classic were all completed before 9 p.m. All heat and feature winners also raced for the well-known watermelon. The eighth annual P1P Challenge race for Friesen Performance OMCA Modifieds saw the drivers qualify through time trials and heat races. The top 12 then raced 15 laps for $1,000 and a unique trophy Johnathon Logue grabbed the lead from the outside front row as the race went green. Logue was content to let some heavy hitters duke it out behind him as Tom Berry Jr., Bricen James and Richie Gustin sliced and diced for position. Schram takes East Moline season championship night win

By Rob Hinckley EAST MOLINE, Ill. (Aug. 28, 2022) – Dustin Schram drove turns three and four of East Moline Speedway a little differently Sunday evening. Working the steering wheel, he used the upper racing grooves and sped to the 25-lap IMCA Sunoco Late Model season championship feature win. “Wow, we really actually have struggled recently, but put a lot of work into this and here we are,” Schram said in victory lane. Unofficial track champion Jacob Waterman led from the pole until the Colona hotshoe lost control in turn four just a handful of laps from the checkered flag. He ended up fourth. “We had our ups and downs all year,” Waterman said. “We kept trying things on the car and it worked especially on the nights we won. Rookie rallies to US 36 Raceway checkers

(Aug. 26, 2022) – After a race that saw a little bit of everything, fans at US 36 Raceway saw rookie Greg Marrant in victory lane, celebrating his Friday night Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact win. The 4-cylinder feature saw speed, wheels flying off, smoke and action from green to checkers. Heat winner Jason Teel took the front and battled Brad Mick and Marrant as the three broke away from the field. Teel continued to lead until his right front wheel came off on turn four, bringing his hopes of a win to an early end. Marrant and Mick made contact, bringing out the yellow and sending both drivers to the rear on the ensuing restart. Payton Teel then took the lead only to see Marrant charge back by taking the lead and the win. Marrant celebrated in Nextran Victory Lane as Mick finished second and Teel third. Spahr grabs first IMCA RaceSaver win

(Aug. 27, 2022) – After a couple of close-but-not-quite finishes at Selinsgrove Speedway, Logan Spahr was due, and the second-year Pennsylvania Sprint Series driver collected that debt Saturday night by scoring his first IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car victory Saturday after a torrid duel with veteran Doug Dodson. Spahr took the lead from Tyler Snook on lap three after some side-by-side racing. Then, after a red flag for an incident involving Mike Melair, Austin Reed, and Justin Mills on the front stretch, Spahr lost the lead to Dodson, who had charged from eighth starting. Undaunted, Spahr went after Dodson and the two swapped the lead back and forth until Spahr adjusted his line to take away Dodson’s preferred line. With the race staying green for the last 17 circuits of the 20-lapper, traffic also became a factor, but Spahr handled that situation like a seasoned veteran.
