Kaplan takes thriller at Stuart’s Clint Walrod Memorial

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (July 27, 2022) – Karl Chevrolet of Stuart International Speedway had 125 cars in the pits for the Clint Walrod Memorial Wednesday night. Feature winners were Michael Hotze, Cam Reimers, Austin Kaplan, Cody Laney and Dylan Nelson. The first feature on the track was the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts with Hotze, Tyler Fiebelkorn and Kolby Sabin battling over the top three spots. Hotze stretched his lead out to just over a second and went on to the $1,000 feature win, his first in the division. Sabin came out on top in the battle for second with Fiebelkorn third, Jake Walding fourth and Ryan Brown fifth. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods came out next and it was Bryan Morris leading one lap before the yellow flew. Howard rumbles to Saturday checkers at Desert Thunder

By Janelle Bates PRICE, Utah (July 23, 2022) – Wyatt Howard won the Saturday night Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Desert Thunder Raceway. Howard’s ninth win of the season paid $1,000 courtesy of Castleview Hospital in Price and made him eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. The defending track champion pulled ahead of the leaders midway through the race and finished ahead of the pack. “The win feels amazing. Everything just fell into place and it feels great to be able to show all the hard work paying its dues,” Howard said. “The Modified class most is probably the most frustrating class on the planet, from trying to work with the rules and keep the right setup for what we’re competing with each and every night.” Howard, 26, made his racing debut in 2010 at the age of 14. Stock Car checkers at Outagamie give Wilson feature wins in 4 IMCA divisions

SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 28, 2022) – Tyler Wilson achieved two goals with one win on fair night at Outagamie Speedway. Driving for John Heinz, Wilson raced to his career first IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature victory on July 22 at Seymour. More notably, the checkers gave him one or more wins in a fourth different sanctioned division, an accomplishment of which just a handful of IMCA drivers can boast. “I was bummed about starting 10th but it was pretty cool to be able to drive through the field and win,” said Wilson, from Little Suamico. “I was pumped. Point fund checks, IMCA.TV bonuses awarded to Dakota Tour drivers

VINTON, Iowa (July 28, 2022) – Point fund checks totaling $10,000 and another $1,980 in IMCA.TV DCMT bonuses were mailed this week to Friesen Performance IMCA Modified and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers competing in the July 9-14 Corral Sales IMCA Dakota Classic Tour. Top 10 drivers in both divisions receive point fund monies from IMCA and Hoosier Race Tire while top three finishing local Modified drivers each night of the tour receive $110 bonuses from IMCA.TV. Tom Berry Jr. earned the lion’s share of Modified purses, winning all six features and $12,000 during the week, complementing that amount with a $1,600 share of the $6,500 point fund for that division. Second and $1,150 went to Travis Hagen. CJ checkers fly for McDaniel, Roth

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 22, 2022) – Friday night racing action at the CJ Speedway saw two more drivers add their names to the first time winners list in 2022 at the Louisa County Fairgrounds oval. Jason McDaniel has raced on and off at CJ Speedway but had not won a race on the 4/10th mile dirt track since the 2018 season. McDaniel led the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature flag to flag en route to the win. The feature went under caution late and the restart saw the top five positions shuffled as Kirk Kinsley took advantage of the restart and raced into second and was closing in on McDaniel as the checkers waved. Mullen, Wilson are first at Outagamie fair

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 22, 2022) – Mike Mullen and Tyler Wilson were IMCA winners Friday at Outagamie Speedway. Wyatt Block set the pace early in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified 20-lap feature while Mullen set up shop on the outside groove. Mullen use his momentum to take the top spot on lap five, then distanced himself from the field and leaving the battle for second between Block and Jayden Schmidt. Mullen had the race in hand but a caution with five laps remaining reset the field. Schmidt began to pressure Mullen using the low groove. With two laps remaining, Schmidt worked past Mullen out of turn two but the caution flew, erasing the pass and giving the lead back to Mullen. On the final restart, Mullen switched to the low groove and held off Schmidt to earn his third feature win of the season. Performance Bodies awards are new for 31st Harris Clash

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (July 26, 2022) – Four drivers with differing on-track luck at the Aug. 2 Harris Clash will take home $250 awards courtesy of Performance Bodies. Munoz hustles from 20th to checkers at El Paso Co. IMCA Stock Car Showdown

CALHAN, Colo. (July 22, 2022) – He isn’t a fan of bullrings but Angel Munoz sure knows how to get around them in a hurry. Munoz started 20th and raced his way to the front of the Colorado IMCA Sunoco Stock Car Showdown field at El Paso County Raceway, earning $2,000 for the Friday night feature win at Calhan. “I’m not a big fan of bullrings but we do good at ‘em,” said Munoz, more partial to the big tracks of western Kansas. “I’d only raced here once before, in 2016, and we won $1,000 that night.” He’d won his heat but was disqualified when post-race tech found the right rear shock measurement off by a quarter of an inch. “I’d changed a spring right before the heat and didn’t compensate. Kinzley is king at Dacotah Speedway

By Becca Pelkey MANDAN, N.D. (July 22, 2022) – After everything fell into place, Quentin Kinzley parked his Friesen Performance IMCA Modified in Dacotah Speedway’s victory lane. The Friday night feature win was his first at Mandan since June of 2020. “2021 was a good year but it seemed like we were always the bridesmaid. We were close so many times,” said the uber consistent Kinzley, who counted four runner-up finishes among 10 top five outings at Dacotah Speedway last season. “It felt good to win. Everything fell into place.” Pole sitter Chris Barros set the pace in the feature but it was rookie Logan Schmitz who led from the green flag. Schmitz pulled away quickly as Barros tried to stay with him. Barros slowly started to fade through the field, losing positions to Spencer Wilson, Kinzley and Marlyn Seidler. Foulger, Mallet are IMCA winners at Antioch

(July 23, 2022) – Troy Foulger won the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event while Jacob Mallet Jr. won for the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature Saturday at Antioch Speedway. Buddy Kniss raced into the early Modified lead ahead of Bobby Motts Jr. and Aaron Crowell. An inside pass gained Crowell second on lap five with Foulger following into third. They ran that way until a high pass in turn two on lap 13 put Foulger into second. Foulger went outside Kniss in turn four on Lap 15 to take the lead. Foulger went onto victory from there, followed by Kniss, Crowell, Nick DeCarlo and Kellen Chadwick Mallet’s checkers were his first this season at Antioch. He took the early lead ahead of Nick Caughnan Jr. while Fred Ryland moved into third by the seventh lap. After a lap 13 yellow, Ryland trailed Mallet on the restart.
