PASS record is on the line at Selinsgrove

By Frank Buhrman SELINSGROVE, Pa. (May 18, 2023) –  In 25 years of River Valley Builders Pennsylvania Sprint Series competition, no driver has ever won five consecutive feature races. Logan Spahr of Lewisberry will go for that record Saturday night, May 20 at Selinsgrove Speedway. Actually, the driver of the Eshenaur Racing no. 5 KR MacDonald/High Tech Metals/RL Snyder Electric Sprint Car has already won five straight, but that streak extends back to the final race of 2022, the Keystone RaceSaver Challenge. It’s the 2023 streak that sets the record. Last week at Path Valley Speedway, Spahr won his fourth in a row this year, a feat accomplished by only one other driver in PASS history: Logan Wagner in 2011. Several accomplished PASS competitors have won three straight, including Garrett Bard, Tyler Reeser, Mark Watkins, Craig Robinson, Ritchie Fitz, Judi Bates, Vince Snyder and Joe Davis. Only Spahr and Wagner have won four straight. A strong field of IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car challengers will do their best to deny Spahr the record Saturday, including Seth [Read More]

Schwartz wires IMCA Northern SportMod field at Stevens Memorial

By Josh Reynolds Stuart, Iowa (May 17, 2023) – Karl Chevrolet of Stuart International Speedway saw some great racing action Wednesday evening as it played host for the Tim and Tammy Stevens Memorial. IMCA feature winners were Kolby Sabin, Buck Schafroth, Luke Ramsey, David Schwartz and Todd Shute. Mitchell Bunch and Craig Furstenau led the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts to the green flag with Bunch and Terry Bickford showing the way early on. Bickford snagged the lead for a few laps before a lap nine caution slowed the pack. Anthony Clark used the middle of the track to get the lead on lap 11 just as the last caution of the race flew, setting up a three-lap dash to the finish. Clark looked strong as he led on the white flag lap, but Sabin muscled under him cleanly and stole the lead and the win out of turn four. Clark settled for second with Bickford third, Owen Richards fourth and Curtis Masterson fifth.  IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars were next up with Ty Hill and Robbie [Read More]

Off Road checkers fly for Wilkinson, Bruhn

By Randy Pospishil sports@norfolkdailynews.com NORFOLK, Neb. (May 13, 2023) – While their starting spots differed, Kyle Wilkinson and Anthony Bruhn both ended their night Saturday in the same place. Victory lane at Off Road Speedway. Making the longest journey to the front was Wilkinson in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Wilkinson traveled quickly from the fifth row into contention while, for the first few laps, a cluster of six cars jockeyed for position. Although he got into the lead by passing Nate DeSive, Wilkinson had just one lap as the leader before the race’s first caution grouped DeSive and Tejay Mielke, as well as Cameron Wilkinson, close behind. That tight grouping maintained itself for another handful of laps before Kyle Wilkinson pulled away by several car lengths and, despite three laps of three-wide and side-by-side pursuit, so did the cars behind him. Wilkinson then maintained his advantage, leading his brother Cameron and Mielke to the finish line during the final 10 laps and earning his first Off Road Speedway win of the season. The [Read More]

Obituary for Navy Drew Smith

Navy Drew Smith, 9 months, of Waterloo, was called back to Heaven on Thursday, May 4, 2023. She was born August 4, 2022, in Waterloo, the much loved daughter of Tyler Smith and Alyssa Root. Despite her young age, Navy traveled with her parents, grandparents and great-grandparents for vacation experiencing her first airplane ride, ship ride and island adventures. She would ride around deck on the ship in her stroller, greeting all her fellow passengers with her warm and contagious smile. Navy especially enjoyed the many hours spent with Grandma Sue. She liked being outdoors, going on walks and playing in the water but hated the feel of grass on her feet. She was very curious and alert and didn’t miss anything within ear or eyeshot. Navy sat up at 6 months, then moved right into crawling and was already pulling herself up on furniture. Her adventurous nature also included eating and enjoying every food she ever tried. Navy was loved and cherished and will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives she touched in such a short lifetime. She is survived by [Read More]
