Clark aims for Sprint win in sixth state in return to Eagle, RaceSaver Nationals

HAMERSVILLE, Ohio – Justin Clark already owns IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature wins in five different states this season. He’s hoping to add a sixth state to that list when he returns to Nebraska’s Eagle Raceway for the RaceSaver Nationals Sept. 2-5. From Hamersville, Ohio, Clark has won 13 times, in his home state and in Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. With 100 percent chance of rain close to home, he made the 15-hour tow to Nebraska in mid-July and won his heat race before Eagle got washed out as well. “Our goal at the beginning of the year was to race for national points. We don’t usually start racing too early in Ohio and Indiana and had to travel to do that,” said Clark, second in national standings to Texan Marcus Thomas for most of the season. “I tell people that you don’t know how good you are until you race with different people to see how good you stack up.” Through 29 starts, he’s stacked up pretty well. Morgan breaks through for NY-Penn victory

By Evan Canfield SUSQUEHANNA, Pa. (Aug. 15) – In a season filled with highs and lows, Rodney Morgan finally found some redemption at Penn Can Speedway. After destroying his car in the season opener at the same facility, he was able to come back to the Susquehanna oval and capture his first NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series victory on Sunday, earning $1,000 and Fast Shafts All-Star qualifying eligibility. Aaron Benjamin and J.W. Lamphere set the pace for the 25-lap feature but the start was anything but smooth. A single car spin, a stack-up at the rear of the field and a multi-car pileup set the tone for the opening laps, with three consecutive cautions keeping the race from getting underway. Rookie Graf gets first RaceSaver Sprint win at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 14) – Rookie Hannah Graf put her IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car in victory lane for her first career win Saturday at Arlington Raceway. Graf led from start to finish from her front row start. A first lap yellow flag came out when Bruce Allen spun off the track in turn three. The cars realigned and Graf took off again, this time with her uncle Chris following her around the track. Halfway through the race another caution was thrown when Justin Allen spun out. On this restart, Brett Allen took the high side while others were taking the bottom of the track and passed five cars to compete with the leader. The following lap, coming out of turn two, Graf had control of the front spot and Allen ran out of room, causing him to spin out putting him to the back of the field. With four laps to go, Hannah Graf led the rest of the way to take the victory. Chris Graf took second and Trevor Serbus started 13th and finished third. [Read More]

Stewart scores first Benton County Speedway victory

VINTON, Iowa (Aug.15) – Points battles remained tight Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. With the season championship program coming up next Sunday, drivers positioned themselves for a title run in the final event leading up to the season finale. In the KISS Country 96.5 IMCA Modified division, a first-time winner had to hold off a hard-charging title contender in that feature. Derrick Stewart raced from the fourth row and worked along the outside of Josh Barta a handful of laps into the 20-lapper. While Stewart pressured from the outside, point leader Troy Cordes, who also started in row four, pursued on the low side. Cordes reeled in the lead pair and the trio dueled before Stewart was able to make his way around Barta for the race lead. Cordes continued to give chase and made numerous attempts to challenge high and low, but those efforts came up short as Stewart raced to his first-ever win at The Bullring. Five more IMCA Modified drivers eligible for Fast Shafts All-Star qualifying

BOONE, Iowa – Another five IMCA Modified drivers have made themselves eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational with recent feature wins. Dylan Sillman, Jacob Pirkle and Chris Zogg all topped qualifying weekly events while Curtis Towns and Craig Cassell became eligible with checkered flag runs during the Wild West IMCA Modified Shootout. Drivers winning sanctioned events paying $1,000 or more held through the first weekend of September become eligible to qualify. They must be pre-registered for the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s to attempt to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Two rounds of group time trials on Thursday, Sept. 9 determine 28 of the 30 All-Star starters with the top driver in national point standings and the leader in 40-point feature wins attending Super Nationals at Boone Speedway completing the Friday, Sept. 10 grid. 77 IMCA Stock Car drivers eligible to qualify for inaugural B & B Chassis All-Star Invitational

BOONE, Iowa – Cameron Wilkinson is the latest addition to the list of IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers eligible to qualify for the B & B Chassis All-Star Invitational field. Wilkinson won Sunday’s Thayer County Fair special. Time trial qualifying is Sept. 8 with the inaugural invitational to be held Thursday, Sept. 9 during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway. Drivers winning sanctioned events paying $750 or more held through the first weekend of September become eligible to qualify. $250 Sunoco bonus Friday night in Davenport

VINTON, Iowa – Extra money is on the line for the potential winner of the main event for IMCA Sunoco Late Models this Friday at Davenport. The next installment of the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus will be paid to the August 13 Late Model winner at Davenport Speedway. Sunoco bonuses will be presented at IMCA Late Model sanctioned tracks in 2021. Drivers are eligible for one bonus during the racing season. Winners so far this year have been Matt Ryan at 300 Raceway in Farley, followed by Sean Johnson at Independence Motor Speedway, Andy Eckrich at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Ron Klein at Dubuque Speedway, Kyle Prauner at U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus, Chase Osborne at Boone County Raceway in Albion, Brock Carlson at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, and most recently to Dave Eckrich last Friday night at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson. Stars align for Parson in Texas Sprint Series wins

ABILENE, Texas – Michelle Parson went three years between IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature victories. Parson saw her victory drought end in her fifth Texas Sprint Series outing of the season, at Monarch Motor Speedway on July 3. Then she got an even more special win in her next start, following with the TSS checkers in front of a very full and very loud grandstand at hometown Abilene Speedway on July 31. “We have struggled this season,” Parson said. “It was great to win at Monarch and we had a lot of friends and family at Abilene. PASS entries total 46, red hot Bard wins at Port Royal

(Aug. 7) – Garrett Bard won his fifth Pennsylvania Sprint Series race in his last sixth starts Saturday night, taking advantage of his second straight front-row starting position draw and fighting off stout challenges from Kenny Heffner and Tyler Snook to top the 20-lap feature at Port Royal Speedway. The defending national champion Bard received his final and most serious challenge on a late restart with six laps to go. Rookie Snook dove to the inside and briefly claimed the lead, but Bard’s outside power was enough to return him to the top spot and the win. Kenny Heffner also challenged earlier in the race and re-took second place from Snook in the waning laps. Ken Duke and Dom Melair rounded out the top five. Forty-six IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars contended. Kassidy Kreitz earned the night’s hard charger award, coming from the 21st starting position to 12th after winning her “B” main.
