By Joe Orsini LUXEMBURG, Wis. A star-studded field of 33 cars rolled in to lay claim to the Mod Mania crown. Included in the field were nine former division champions totaling 25 individual titles at the track over the last 35 years.   2017 champion Todd Dart, pulled a lucky pill to start on the outside of the front row. He wasted no time in capitalizing to lead the opening lap over Greg Gretz. Seven-time time champ Brian Mullen found himself in a three-car battle for third with Mike Mullen and Tyler Wilson. Wilson briefly won the scrap for third and set his sights on reeling in Gretz in second.   As Dart started catching lapped traffic Gretz still held second, Wilson third, Brian Mullen fourth and Mike Mullen fifth. That wouldn’t last long as three-time track champion LaCrosse found grip on the high side and started running down [Read More]

NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series has repeat winner as Sites conquers Afton

By Todd Burgess  AFTON, N.Y. (July 30) – Brad Sites overcame another bad draw to become the first repeat winner in the NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series Friday at Afton Motorsports Park.  The 25-lap main event had Joe Novak and Rodney Morgan lead the field to green as series point leader Sites took the initial green from the ninth starting spot. Novak jumped out to the early lead but it was short-lived as he pushed wide out of turn four on lap three and Rodney Morgan was right there to grab the top spot.  Just as the pass was made, the caution flew which resulted in Keith Jack Lamphere starting at the rear of the field on the ensuing green as Sites had already moved up to sixth. As the engines roared once again, Aaron Benjamin began to pressure Morgan for the top spot as Sites and Lamphere continued to pluck their way forward.  By lap 11, Benjamin had claimed the top spot and Sites had worked his way squarely to Benjamin’s back bumper as the [Read More]

Dallon Murty continued his mastery in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Albert Auto Service. Rookie schools IMCA RaceSaver foes at Bloomsburg

By Frank Buhrman  BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (July 25) – Rookie Zack Bealer found a way around Bloomsburg Fair Raceway that nobody else could match and scored his first win in a full-sized sprint car in Sunday’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature co-sanctioned by the Pennsylvania Sprint Series and the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series. The former micro-sprint driver, running regularly with MASS, already had amassed two top-five finishes and four top-10’s in just six starts, including a seventh at Bridgeport Speedway in his first RaceSaver start, the season-opening co-sanctioned event for both groups. He announced early Sunday he might be ready to do even better at Bloomsburg, coming from ninth starting position to finish fourth in his heat. That was the best charge by any driver in the preliminaries.  Then he drew the pole for the 25-lap feature, the first ever for full-size, winged sprints on the Bloomsburg track, built earlier this year inside the horse track that was the site of many classic open-wheel races beginning nearly a century ago and ending in the 1980s.  In a [Read More]
