Hughes puts new IMCA Stock Car in Fairgrounds Speedway victory lane

CORTEZ, Colo. (July 16) – After a month away from the track putting final touches on a new race car, Jeramy Hughes parked that 2020 Terminator ride in victory lane at Fairgrounds Speedway. The July 16 victory was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car first in 2-1/2 years for the Farmington, N.M., driver. He start on the pole and led flag-to-flag while battling power steering issues all weekend. “It was a huge relief to know I can still compete. I was starting to doubt myself there for a while,” Hughes said afterwards. “I saw Aaron’s (Spangler) nose one time and knew I had to get up on the wheel.” Hughes started his IMCA career in 2013. Ryan Peery sweeps IMCA Pacific SportMod Showdown

By Ben Deatherage WHITE CITY, Ore. (July 24) – Southern Oregon Speedway wrapped up the IMCA Pacific SportMod Showdown on Saturday for Dusty’s Transmission Night. The 40-lap, $2,500 to win feature had 41 Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods on hand.  When the green flag flew for the main event, Travis Peery, took control of the top spot to lead the opening lap. However, it was a short-lived reign as his son Ryan, winner from the previous night at White City, seized control by lap three. Travis rebounded to edge out Ryan on lap four. Unfortunately, due to a caution, the pass was nullified, handing back the position to Ryan Peery. Six more stoppages were to be had for the rest of the race resulting in heavy lapped traffic being taken out of the picture but restarts even more critical. Reimers takes second Boone checkers of season

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (July 24) – It was Christmas in July at the Boone Speedway on Saturday night and Santa himself was there to greet the youngsters. Christmas music filled the air and decorations were around every corner. However, the 90 degree temperatures didn’t feel like the holiday season!The IMCA STARS Mod Lites kicked off feature racing. At the end of the 15-lap race, it was Mike Kennedy standing in victory lane for the third time this season. Kennedy started 10th and ran down leader Cory Sonner by lap eight, but it wasn’t until that final lap that he was able to make the pass in turn two and go home to secure the win. Sonner had to be content with the runner up spot. Third went to fifteenth place starter Joe Glick, who was hard charger of the race. Densberger scores Eagle IMCA Modified win

(July 24) – Although the heat index cleared 100 Saturday night, a good-sized crowd showed up to brave the temperatures at Eagle Raceway as Modern Real Estate and Empire Fencing and Netting presented Fan With A Can night. Double features were run since the previous week’s were interrupted by rain. A restart with two laps left opened the door for Mike Densberger in the scheduled IMCA Modified main event. “It’s been too long coming. Halstead, Howes, Mather become new winners at Lee County

By Brian Neal DONNELLSON, Iowa (July 23) – After having a week off for the fair and another week off thanks to mother nature, Lee County Speedway was able to get back to racing action on Friday. Conn Communications provided all fans going into the grandstands a chance to take in the night’s racing action for only $3, with many fans taking advantage of the discounted prices.  At the end of the night the great crowd on hand got to witness three drivers earn their first win of the season at the track, while two others continued their winning ways. Up first on the night was the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature, with Justin Stevenson and Patrick McKasson leading the field to green. Fourth place starter Kaycee McGregor grabbed the lead over Stevenson and Luke Fraise. Independence races to save lives with Iowa Donor Network Night show

By Jeremy Fox  INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (July 24) – Independence Motor Speedway raced to save lives on Saturday, hosting the Iowa Donor Network Night. Iowa Donor Network was on hand with info and for people to sign up as an organ donor. Drivers Prizes, Donation Honorees, Raffles, Prizes and Apparel for Sale plus the first 300 adults got a gift from Longhorn Steakhouse. A helmet and door signed by drivers auctioned off at Intermission along with a pass the helmet with all donations going to the Iowa Donor Network.  The first feature of the night was the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods. Kyle Olson and Nebraska’s Cameron Meyer led the field to the green flag with Olson taking the top spot early. Olson held off Brandon Tharp and Shane Paris until lap seven. Paris took the top spot away from Olson but Olson did not go away and took back the lead just before the caution on lap 10. Close racing the rule at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 24) – Hot racing action on the track made for some very close tight racing in all the divisions for the Mankato Motorsports and Northland Drying Night Saturday at Arlington Raceway. There was a lot of slicing and dicing in the IMCA Modified feature with three different leaders. Rick Nelson led the first three laps from the pole until Trent Loverude invaded his territory coming from eighth place to battle him. Alongside Loverude was Chad Porter. Loverude took over the lead but only for two laps as Porter led the next three laps. Then the two were driving around lapped traffic and a yellow came out for a spinning car in turn one. On the restart, Dan Menk got the jump on Porter and was now in second behind Loverude … but that didn’t last long as Porter rejoined the two driving from the top of the track to the bottom to gain positions.  With two laps to go, Clint Hatlestad was also in the mix and another caution came out. Mid-Summer Classic brings two nights of action to Shawano

SHAWANO, Wis. (July 23-24) – Fans were given two opportunities to watch racing action at Shawano Speedway as the Mid-Summer Classic kicked off on Friday. Mike Mullen was the story on opening night, picking up All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility wins in both the IMCA Modified and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car divisions in very impressive fashion while Jayden Schmidt paced the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods. Saturday would provide just as much action as Marcus Yarie, Jeffery Teske and Chucky Forstner found victory lane. The Northern SportMods kicked action off with what looked to be another great run by Max Oreskovich jumping to the early lead. Oreskovich led the early part of the race with Schmidt giving him astiff challenge for the top spot.  Jeff Schmuhl and Teske joined the battle up front. Gary Lamphere tops IMCA Modifieds at The Hill

MONROETON, Pa. (July 23) – Elite Arms joined with The Copy Source to sponsor special 30-lap mid-season championship features at The Hill Friday night. Gary Lamphere led the first six circuits in the IMCA Modified feature,  with Keith Jack Lamphere taking over. Eddie Sites powered into second on the eighth lap with Gary and Rodney Morgan debating third.  Contact between the leaders ended Sites’ night and moved Keith Jack Lamphere to the rear for the restart.  Gary Lamphere regained the lead and paced the field to the checkers. Morgan kept the pressure on throughout, but settled for second at the finish. Brad Sites moved into third with seven laps remaining, and Keith Jack Lamphere, recovered to finish fourth. J.W. Lamphere was fifth.

Fetterman shines at Wagner

WAGNER, S.D. (July 23) – Week 10 of the Fort Randall Casino and Hotel Weekly Racing Series was a hot and muggy day but turned out to be a comfortable and entertaining evening this past Friday night, as Wagner Speedway celebrated Military personnel, First Responders and members of the medical field with free admission, courtesy of First Dakota National Bank and S & S Masonry, both of Wagner.  Tony Fetterman showed he was the fast mover in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.  Starting outside the fourth row, Fetterman worked his way up the ladder, finally passing Toby Ives late in the event to pick up his second victory of the season.  Ives would have to settle for second, with Jordan Vosika taking third. Fetterman picked up a $100 Hard Charger bonus for moving up seven spots from his eighth starting position. The Hard Charger bonus money was put up by Reese Powers Racing, in memory and honor of Zach Johnson of Avon, S.D., who tragically and unexpectedly passed away this past week.
