Deery Series headlines Memorial Day show at Boone Speedway

BOONE, Iowa – A Memorial Day tradition continues at Boone Speedway when the Deery Brothers Summer Series headlines the holiday race program. Touring IMCA Late Models race for $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start the Monday, May 29 main event. Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 3 p.m. Hot laps are at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 5 p.m. Grandstand admission is $20 for adults, $7 for students ages 13-17 and free for kids 12 and under attending with a paid adult. Iron man DeFrance is golden at Quad City Deery

EAST MOLINE, Ill. (May 14) – The iron man of the Deery Brothers Summer Series came up golden Sunday night at Quad City Speedway. Darrel DeFrance, competing in his record-extending 473rd IMCA Late Model tour event, ran the lower line and led the 40-lapper from start to finish, holding off Jesse Sobbing as the race wound down to win by half a car length. “I could hear him out there. I knew the bottom was going away a little and figured the higher line was coming in,” DeFrance said. “The car worked right for us tonight. We made a few adjustments and it worked just right.” Early challenger Jeremiah Hurst was third. Rob Toland and Ray Guss Jr. completed the top five. Quad City Speedway hosts Mother’s Day Deery Series show

EAST MOLINE, Ill. (May 9) – A Mother’s Day show at Quad City Speedway is next on the schedule for the Deery Brothers Summer Series. Touring IMCA Late Models race for $2,000 to win and a minimum $300 to start their Sunday, May 14 main event at East Moline. Tour rookie Jake Neal of Omaha, Neb., leads the point standings heading into the sixth series event of the season. Luke Goedert of Guttenberg, Iowa, is in second, two points off the pace and just nine points separate the first and fifth place drivers. IMCA Late Model track point season starts this Friday

VINTON, Iowa – The track point season for IMCA Late Models opens Friday, April 28 and continues through Sunday, Aug. 27. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will also be awarded at Friday venues Davenport Speedway, Farley Speedway and Marshalltown Speedway; Saturday tracks Hamilton County Speedway, Independence Motor Speedway, Maquoketa Speedway and Shelby County Speedway; and Sunday tracks Benton County Speedway, Dubuque Speedway, Quad City Speedway and West Liberty Raceway. Final national and state points will be awarded through the Liberty 100 Weekend Deery Brothers Summer Series weekend at West Liberty Raceway in September.

Kay flexes Deery muscles again at Dubuque with $2,000 Sunday checkers

DUBUQUE, Iowa (April 23) – After the fifth lead change of the night, a driver who knows a thing or two about getting around Dubuque Speedway was the winner of Sunday night’s Deery Brothers Summer Series 50-lap feature. And a driver making his first-ever visit to Dubuque was a very close runner-up in the final installment of the weekend’s Highway 20 Triple Crown. Justin Kay led the last 11 circuits in winning the IMCA Late Model tour main event, picking up his second $2,000 check in three nights for his career 21st Deery victory. Nebraskan Jake Neal led nine laps before Kay got by but never gave up the chase, finishing just a car length back. Change of plans leads Gustin to first Deery Series victory

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (April 22) – Richie Gustin is glad he reconsidered his plans Saturday. After initially expecting to take the night off from racing, Gustin decided to make the trip to Independence Motor Speedway for the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models. By night’s end, he was standing in victory lane celebrating the first series win of his career. Gustin made his way past race-long leader Justin Mitchell with 11 laps to go in the 40-lapper to drive to the milestone victory. Pole-sitter Mitchell assumed command early with Gustin in tow. The leader reached slower traffic after just 10 laps with Gustin remaining in pursuit the entire time. Gustin stuck with him and was eventually able to work the low side past Mitchell exiting turn two on lap 29. He led the rest of the way to secure the $2,000 payday ahead of Mitchell. Kay collects 20th Deery Series win with Farley victory

FARLEY, Iowa (April 21) – The Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models headlined Friday’s season opener at Farley Speedway under the new direction of Farley Speedway Promotions. Fans were greeted by a field of 36 touring Late Models at the facility, which has already undergone numerous improvements this spring with many more to come throughout the season. While the facility is undergoing a facelift, it was a familiar face lifting the trophy in victory lane as Justin Kay led all 35 laps to earn his career 20th series victory. VINTON, Iowa (April 19) – Cash bonuses totaling $1,500 will be added to purses paid at this weekend’s Deery Brothers Summer Series tripleheader. The Highway 20 Triple Crown takes touring IMCA Late Models to Farley Speedway on Friday, April 21, to Independence Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 22 and to Dubuque Speedway on Sunday, April 23. Each feature pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Drivers who compete at all three events are eligible for bonuses based on point standings for the weekend.
