Despite heavy heart, Denny Eckrich gets Deery Series win at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (April 8) – After winning Saturday’s Deery Brothers Summer Series feature at West Liberty Raceway, Denny Eckrich took time to remember friend Mike Humphrey, killed in a car accident earlier this week in Louisiana. “He helped me get into a Black Diamond (Chassis). He helped a lot of racers,” Eckrich said. “Mike was a good guy and he died too soon. There are a lot of heavy hearts tonight.” Eckrich led the last seven of 40 laps after taking the outside line around Jeremiah Hurst and Jesse Sobbing following a late restart. Deery Series has Saturday date at West Liberty Raceway

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa – Night number two of the 2017 Deery Brothers Summer Series takes the IMCA Late Model tour to West Liberty Raceway for a Saturday, April 8 show. A top prize of $2,000 is at stake in the main event, scheduled for 40 laps. Minimum start money is $300. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps. Also on the card are IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Marolf is the main man in Deery Series opener at 34 Raceway

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (April 1) – Nick Marolf will have much memories of his second visit to 34 Raceway than he will of his first. Marolf passed Darrel DeFrance and led the last 30 times around the track in winning Saturday’s Deery Brothers Summer Series opener at West Burlington, earning $2,000 for his IMCA Late Model tour efforts. His one previous outing at 34 came at the Pepsi USA Nationals 17 years ago when his drive shaft broke during hot laps. “That was early in my career and we were just trying to make laps. That night was forgetful. I’d like to not remember it at all,” Marolf said. “We got lucky tonight with the redraw and got to start close to the front (third). 34 Raceway rolls out red carpet for April 1 Deery Series opener

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – The track that hosted the first Deery Brothers Summer Series event rolls out the red carpet for the first IMCA Late Model tour event of the season next Saturday, April 1. The Deery Series returns to 34 Raceway for a $2,000 to win, minimum $300 to start opening night feature. Forty-eight previous events have been held at West Burlington, more than at any other track, in the tour’s 30-year history. VINTON, Iowa – IMCA Late Model drivers running for national and state honors will have more on-track opportunities in 2017. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded at all Deery Brothers Summer Series events as the tour switches from a unique 50-point system to IMCA’s familiar 40-point system. WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (Sept. 24) – Chad Holladay won his first Deery Brothers Summer Series feature while Tyler Bruening became a first-time IMCA Late Model tour champion Saturday night at West Liberty Raceway. Kay collects Friday Yankee Dirt Track Classic Deery checkers at Farley

FARLEY, Iowa (Sept. 2) – Right place, right time. Justin Kay inherited the lead after a flat tire sidelined race-long leader Spencer Diercks and led to the finish of Friday’s Deery Brothers Summer Series main event at Farley Speedway. The IMCA Late Model tour victory paid $2,000 and was the 19th of Kay’s career. He’s now tied with Rob Toland for seventh on the all-time Deery Series wins list. Fifty Late Models were on hand for the first of two Deery shows during the Yankee Dirt Track Classic, the top car count of the 30th annual tour.
