Ohio Thunder Sprint Series brings IMCA, RaceSaver to the Buckeye State

FRANKFORT, Ohio – Fourteen point races are on the initial schedule for the inaugural Ohio Thunder IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Series. Atomic Speedway at Waverly hosts April 18, May 2 and 16, July 31, Aug. 1 and Oct. 3 events. Jackson County Speedway at Jackson is the site of April 17 and 24, May 8 and 15, June 5 and 19, July 24 and Aug. 21 races. Sponsored locally by Southern Ohio Equipment Company of Frankfort, the Ohio Thunder Series is the first RaceSaver series in Ohio. “RaceSaver keeps everything on a level playing field. Louisiana Bayou Sprinters race under IMCA RaceSaver banner

AMITE, La. – A Sprint Car series that’s been part of RaceSaver for the past four years will also run under the IMCA Eagle Motorsports banner beginning this season. The Louisiana Bayou Sprinters, co-directed by Herman and Wendy Carrier, will travel to six tracks in Louisiana, one in Arkansas, one in Mississippi and another in Texas over the course of 20 events. Opening events are March 20 and 21 at Baton Rouge Raceway. A perfect 10: Schedule announced for IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour

VINTON, Iowa – The Hawkeye Dirt Tour takes its first green flag Tuesday, May 12 at the home track of IMCA Modifieds, Benton County Speedway in Vinton. In all, 10 dates are on the schedule for the sixth annual series. Each feature pays a minimum of $1,000 to win and will be a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying event. The champion earns a $600 share of the tour’s $3,000 point fund, plus bonus points applicable toward national and regional standings. I-35 Speedway at Mason City hosts the Memorial Day special on May 25. Deery Series dates added at Maquoketa, Tipton

VINTON, Iowa (Feb. 3) – Two more dates have been added to the 2015 Deery Brothers Summer Series schedule. The IMCA Late Model tour will be at Jackson County Speedway in Maquoketa on Tuesday, June 9 and at Cedar County Raceway in Tipton on Tuesday, Aug. 11. The fifth annual tour travels to six tracks in the Pacific Northwest for seven races in eight nights, pitting many of North America’s best IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified chauffeurs against one another at some of the nation’s best facilities. Drivers with perfect attendance throughout the tour will be eligible for shares of a $3,000 point fund. Crawford County on schedule for April 4 Deery Series opener

DENISON, Iowa (Jan. 23) – The 2015 Deery Brothers Summer Series will take its first green flag at Crawford County Speedway. After inclement weather washed out numerous attempts to bring the series back to Denison last spring, the upcoming IMCA Late Model tour travels to Crawford County for opening night action on Saturday, April 4. In all, the 29th annual series currently has 16 dates. The first 15 of those events pay $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Additional tour dates are still pending. “It’s nice to have our highest paying race as the series finale at the Yankee Dirt Track Classic at Farley Speedway,” Tour Director Kevin Yoder said. “That feature pays $7,500 to win so it should make for an exciting conclusion to the series.” The one previous Deery race at Denison was held in 1994. MANDAN, N.D. (Jan. 12) – Another record purse will be paid out over the course of the 26th annual Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour. IMCA Modifieds race for $2,100 to win and IMCA Stock Cars for $800 to win each night of the July 5-10 tour. Top 10 drivers in final point standings earn shares of $2,000 Modified and $1,000 Stock Car point funds, provided by tour title sponsor Kupper Chevrolet. The series starts its six-night run on Sunday, July 5 at the 3/8-mile Nodak Speedway on the North Dakota State Fairgrounds in Minot, then heads just north of the border to Estevan, Sask., and the 3/8-mile Estevan Motor Speedway on Monday, July 6. Fleming first in 100th Empire State Series event, Cornell captures crown

KIRKWOOD, N.Y. (Nov. 8) – Chris Fleming and James Cornell both had reasons to celebrate following Saturday’s Friesen Chevrolet Empire State Series feature at Five Mile Point Speedway. Fleming topped the final feature for touring IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds of the season, earning $600 for his efforts during the National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend show. His first-ever win at Kirkwood, third tour checkers of the season and fifth overall came in the 100th IMCA Empire State Series event. The checkers were also the 30th this year for Fleming, the two-time defending Dirt Works Eastern Region champion. Cornell, meanwhile, ran second and secured the series championship. He’s the ninth different driver to win the title in the tour’s 13-year history. K.C. Cole drew the pole. Friesen Chevrolet Empire State Series event at 5MP postponed

KIRKWOOD, N.Y. (Nov. 3) – The 100th Friesen Chevrolet Empire State Series event will now be this Saturday, Nov. 8 at Five Mile Point Speedway. Part of the postponed National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend program at Kirkwood, the feature for touring IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds pays $600 to win and a minimum of $100 to start. Pit gates open at 10 a.m. and the grandstand opens at 11:30 a.m. Practice starts at noon and the afternoon race session gets underway at 1 p.m. Spectator admission is $22 for adults, $18 for seniors ages 65 and older, $10 for students ages 13-17 and free for kids 12 and under when accompanying a paid adult. Final SST checkers of season fly for Garland

WACO, Texas (Oct. 25) – A low-budget driver raced to one of the biggest wins of his career in the Sprint Series of Texas finale. David Garland collected the Saturday checkers, his SST first, after swapping the lead with Trevor Reed three times on the final circuit at Heart O’ Texas Speedway. “Whew! What a night!” he exclaimed. “I’d started seventh and had to battle Kenny Elwood for second before I could even try to catch Trevor.” After seeing his motor expire during the Sept. 26 IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Car series show at Mountain Creek Speedway – he and fiancée Renee traded vows in the pit area at Grand Prairie that evening – Garland ran 11th in the Oct. 4 feature at Cotton Bowl Speedway.
