Cotton Bowl, HO’T shows bring curtain down on IMCA Lone Star Series

PAIGE, Texas – A fan appreciation night program and two Texas Nationals shows bring the curtain down on IMCA’s Lone Star Series. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks are in action Thursday, July 3 at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige and Friday and Saturday, July 4 and 5 at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco. The top driver in points in each division for the final three nights of the series get $250 bonuses. A kids’ bicycle giveaway is in the works at Cotton Bowl, where fireworks and a Cody McCarver concert follow the races. Deery Series heads to Independence for pre-holiday show

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 25) – Still looking for a repeat winner this season, the Deery Broth­ers Summer Series heads to Independence for a pre-holiday show next Tuesday, July 1. IMCA Late Models contend for $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Pit gates and the grandstand at Indee both open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students and free for kids 11 and under when accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $30. The first six tour events of 2014 have produced as many different winners, the most recent of them Jeff Aikey last night at Marshalltown Speedway. ALGONA, Iowa – IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds chasing the XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour provide part of the fireworks at Algona Raceway’s Tuesday, July 1 Salute to Veterans Spectacular. Traveling Modifieds race for $2,000 to win their 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualify­ing event. The runner-up earns $1,050, with $950 for third and $850 for fourth. Top prize for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars is $1,500 while Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks both vie for $1,200 to win. The Mach-1 Sport Compact feature pays $200 to win. Aikey adds bonuses to Deery Series payday at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 24) – On a night when Marshalltown Speedway continued its 50th anniversary celebration, an IMCA Late Model driver with more than his share of tour success cele­brated another Deery Brothers Summer Series victory. Jeff Aikey led start to finish in the Miller Lite 50 event, earning a $3,000 share of the purse plus a pair of $500 bonuses along with his 62nd career Deery win. One of seven drivers from the track’s 1985-1990 Late Model era competing Tuesday night, the seven-time series champion pocketed those bonuses from H & F Distributing for winning the fea­ture and from former promoter Steve Priske, now owner of Rumor’s Bar & Grill, as the highest finishing veteran in the main event. XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour date at Lee County rescheduled to July 14

DONNELLSON, Iowa (June 19) – Another ominous forecast has resulted in another XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour postponement. With rain in the late afternoon and evening forecast, the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified tour event scheduled tonight (Tuesday) at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson has been moved to Monday, July 14. Program of events for that night is to be announced. The new date makes for an even busier week of racing for IMCA Modified drivers, following weekly races and the July 13 Hogan Memorial at Benton County Speedway in Vinton. The Hawkeye Dirt Tour is at Southern Iowa Speedway on Tuesday, July 15 and at Knoxville Raceway on Thursday, July 17 for the Harris Clash show; Oskaloosa’s regular weekly show is on the Wednesday between those dates.

IMCA Late Model veterans in running for $500 bonuses at Marshalltown Deery

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 19) – An even bigger payday is possible for veteran IMCA Late Model drivers following the Deery Brothers Summer Series to Marshalltown Speedway next Tuesday, June 24. The Miller Lite 50 tour event pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Former promoter Steve Priske, now owner of Rumor’s Bar & Grill is Marshalltown, will pay a $500 bonus to the highest finishing Late Model driver who competed at Marshalltown between 1985 and 1990. MANDAN, N.D. – Kupper Chevrolet returns this season as title sponsor for the Dakota Classic Modified and Stock Car Tours. This is the second in a three-year pact. The largest Chevrolet dealer in North Dakota, Kupper again pro­vides point funds of $2,000 for traveling IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and $1,000 for traveling IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Cole’s first Yates County Speedway visit ends with Friesen Chevrolet Empire State feature win

DUNDEE, N.Y. (June 15) – Matt Cole might have himself a new favorite track. Cole made his first visit to Yates County Speedway on Sunday and came away with his career-first Friesen Chevrolet Empire State Series victory. “It’s a fun little track,” said the third-year IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified driver. “My luck at new tracks has been pretty good so far this season. Hopefully that’s something we can continue.” Keith Lamphere led much of the way before giving up the lead to Cole in the late going and finish­ing second. Mattison charges to Stock Car win in Redline Racing Parts North Star Series

SLAYTON, Minn. (June 13) – Gary Mattison raced better on the track than he drew for position. As a result, he drove away from the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field for his career-first Redline Rac­ing Parts North Star Series feature win Friday night at Murray County Speedway. Mattison started 10th and caught defending champion Jim Larson and Matt Speckman after half­way for the lead and the eventual victory. “I went to the high side to pass,” Mattison said. “The car was good and I just tried to be patient.” Larson ended in second. Hard charger Jake Masters moved up 10 spots to third, Speckman was fourth and Jake Bruns completed the top five.
