Deery Series is Quad City Speedway bound for Memorial Weekend show

EAST MOLINE, Ill. – A Memorial Weekend date takes the Deery Brothers Summer Series to Quad City Speedway. IMCA Late Models run for $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start their Sunday, May 26 main event at East Moline. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 3:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:15 with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $8 for seniors and students ages 6-12, and free for five and under. Pit passes are $35. Sunday’s event will be the 492nd in series history, with 21 of those previous races held at East Moline. Ray Guss Jr. of Milan leads all drivers with three local tour victories; defending champion Justin Kay of Wheatland, Iowa, winner of the opening night event this spring, topped the Quad City show last May. Deery Series at Independence rescheduled to June 19

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – Saturday’s Deery Brothers Summer Series event at Independence Motor Speedway has been rescheduled for Wednesday, June 19. As has been the case numerous times this spring, rain and generally cold temperatures get the blame for the postponement of the IMCA Late Model tour program. Other divisions on the June 19 card are to be announced. Sunday’s Deery at Dubuque was another inclement weather casualty. There is no reschedule date for that event.

Independence, Dubuque dates next on Deery Series schedule

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – A Deery Brothers Summer Series doubleheader is on the docket this weekend, as the 33rd annual tour for IMCA Late Models travels to Independence Motor Speedway and Dubuque Speedway. A top prize of $2,000 is on the line Saturday, April 27 at Independence while the winner of the Sunday, April 28 Hershel Roberts/Ray Guss Sr. Memorial at Dubuque goes home with $2,500. Both features pay a minimum of $300 to start. The Sunday show was rescheduled after a mid-April twinbill at Maquoketa and Dubuque was lost to unseasonable weather. Kay makes it five straight Deery Series wins at Cedar County

TIPTON, Iowa (April 20) – Another Deery Brothers Summer Series event at Cedar County Raceway ended with another feature win for Justin Kay. Kay won his fifth consecutive IMCA Late Model tour main event at Tipton Saturday night, earning $2,000. The victory was the career 28th for the three-time and defending series champion, now the first driver to win five consecutive Deery events at the same track. “There’s just something about Cedar County,” Kay said of the track he started racing at and where he won the only 4-cylinder track title of his career. “I love racing there.” The 491st event in Deery Series history saw Kay motor from sixth starting to second, then pass pole starter Andy Eckrich on the 13th of 50 circuits. TIPTON, Iowa – The Deery Brothers Summer Series returns to Cedar County Raceway for another opening night show this Saturday. The April 20 event marks the second time in as many years that the IMCA Late Model tour has started its season at Tipton, where defending champion Justin Kay of Wheatland has won the last four series events. Opening night for the 33rd annual IMCA Late Model tour moves to Saturday, April 13 at Maquoketa Speedway, with night two of what is now a weekend doubleheader on Sunday, April 14 at Dubuque Speedway. Both main events pay $2,500 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Maquoketa hosts the inaugural Hershel Roberts/Ray Guss Sr. Memorial on Saturday. Pit gates open and Late Model pre-tech starts at 2 p.m. Saturday. The drivers’ meeting is at 4:10 p.m. and hot laps are at 4:30 p.m., with racing to follow. VINTON, Iowa – The Deery Brothers Summer Series reaches another milestone this season, with the 500th event of its storied history. Seventeen events are on the schedule for the 2019 IMCA Late Model tour. With 490 races in the record book through its first 32 seasons, the series should celebrate its milestone 500th event some time in August. “We are seeing an increase in the number of events held, with both the return of tracks to the schedule and tracks hosting multiple series dates,” IMCA President Brett Root noted. “The 2019 schedule is symbolic of the positive direction our Late Model division is taking.
