Nezworski nabs Deery finale, Kay tops tour, Hurst takes national IMCA Late Model prize

DAVENPORT, Iowa (Sept. 21) – Andy Nezworski won the main event, Justin Kay won the tour title and Jeremiah Hurst won the IMCA Late Model championship when the Deery Brothers Summer Series concluded Friday at Davenport Speedway. Nezworski led every lap of the 40-lap, $2,000 to win caution-free Governor’s Cup feature. Chuck Hanna got close in lapped traffic but couldn’t find a way around the leader. Kay, who’d won the IMCA Modified feature earlier in the program, and Ryan Dolan both passed Hanna on the final lap; ‘B’ feature winner and hard charger Tyler Bruening rounded out the top five. Deery Series headlines opening night at IMCA Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – The first champion of the 36th annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s will be crowned when the Deery Brothers Summer Series headlines the Labor Day show at Boone Speedway. Touring IMCA Late Models race for as much as $3,500 to win and a minimum of $300 to start their Monday, Sept. 3 main event. The winner earns $2,000 plus a bonus of up to $1,500 based on their number of sanctioned starts going into the weekend. Holladay adds Deery Series victory to record of LaSalle success

LASALLE, Ill. (Aug. 4) – The winner of the last One Night Stand main event became the winner of the first Deery Brothers Summer Series feature held at LaSalle Speedway. Chad Holladay made his way from fifth to first following one late restart, then held off hard charger Cayden Carter following a caution with three laps left in winning Saturday’s IMCA Late Model tour feature at the North Central Illinois oval. “I definitely did not want to see that last caution. First LaSalle Speedway date is Aug. 4 for Deery Brothers Summer Series

LASALLE, Ill. – The Deery Brothers Summer Series makes its first-ever visit Saturday to LaSalle Speedway, where a $2,000 check awaits the winner of the Aug. 4 Illinois Valley IMCA Showdown main event. Rain delays but can’t stop Cooney in Fayette County Deery Series quest

WEST UNION, Iowa (July 25) – Todd Cooney had his car loaded up and ready to go home, thinking the rain that delayed Wednesday’s Deery Brothers Summer Series program at Fayette County Speedway would ultimately lead to its cancellation. But the rain went away, the speedway crew got the oval back in prime shape and Cooney ultimately ended up going home with the IMCA Late Model tour victory and $2,000. After running everywhere from third to seventh, Cooney passed Justin Kay and leader Chad Holladay on the 31st of 40 circuits. He beat Kay to the checkers by about a car length for his career eighth Deery win. “We’d kind of been all over the place but I was able to get up to third before that last restart, get a run on the back stretch and get the lead,” said Cooney, who used the higher line to do so. “Any time you can beat Justin it’s a big thing and Chad has been running well, too. WEST UNION, Iowa (July 20) – The longest running tour for Late Models in the Midwest makes a much-anticipated return to West Union and Fayette County Speedway on Wednesday, July 25. Full house greets Deery Series at CJ Speedway as Holladay motors to IMCA Late Model tour win

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 18) – A very full house was on hand to welcome the Deery Brothers Summer Series back to CJ Speedway Wednesday night. Chad Holladay led all 40 laps of the main event for touring IMCA Late Models, outrunning Denny Eckrich and Darrel DeFrance for his career second Deery win and $2,000. Ryan Dolan and Nick Marolf rounded out the top five in the first series event held at Columbus Junction since 1996. “There were a couple cautions that worked in my favor and took out lapped traffic at halfway and again with five to go,” said Holladay. “You always want clean air ahead of you and we had a very good car tonight.” Holladay’s night began inauspiciously, as he drew the last starting spot in his heat. Deery Brothers Summer Series returns to CJ Speedway for July 18 show

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa – An absence of more than 22 race seasons comes to an end next Wednesday, with the return of the Deery Brothers Summer Series to CJ Speedway. Touring IMCA Late Models last traveled to Columbus Junction for an April 12, 1996 show won by Rick Wendling of Hazleton. They’ll vie for $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start when they’re back in town on July 18. “This has been one of the events that we’ve really been looking forward to since the schedule for the 32nd annual series was announced,” noted Tour Director Kevin Yoder. “A lot of our series drivers have never raced at CJ before, or have never raced there in a Late Model, and I know they’re looking forward to next week.” Pit gates and the grandstand open at 5:30 p.m. on race day. Dolan leads all 50 laps of 50th Deery event at 34 Raceway

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (July 3) – It had been a few years since his last trip to West Burlington, so Ryan Dolan relied on Mapquest to get to town. Once he got to 34 Raceway and got some early evening brake issues figured out, he didn’t need any help getting around the track. Dolan led all 50 laps of the Tuesday night Deery Brothers Summer Series main event at 34. The feature ran green to checkered and Dolan pocketed $2,000 for his career third IMCA Late Model tour win. “It was a classic and a sweet victory for the Rick Dralle team,” Dolan said following the tour’s 50th visit to the West Burlington oval. “It was an exciting track to race on – it just suits my driving style. WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – 34 Raceway celebrates the Big 5-0, then gets an early start at celebrating Independence Day next Tuesday. The Deery Brothers Summer Series makes its 50th visit to West Burlington on July 3. Touring IMCA Late Models chase a top check of $2,000 with a minimum of $300 paid to start the main event. 34 Raceway was the site of the first-ever IMCA Late Model tour event, won by hometown driver Jay Johnson on April 11, 1987. The series has since traveled to West Burlington more often than any other track in its 31-plus years, with the single event record of 71 entries set there in 2006.
