Season championship night at Arlington honors Schoknecht

ARLINGTON, Minn. – The Saturday, Sept. 23 season championship night program at Arlington Raceway will be in honor of Scott Schoknecht. Schoknecht, from Belle Plaine, was very instrumental in helping many drivers with his unselfish knowledge in setting up race cars. Friends have collected donations from almost 40 individuals and businesses to add to the purse for the IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Both features will be $1,500 to win, $800 for second, $500 for third, $300 for fourth and $200 for fifth through 24th place. The Modified feature is a 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. After the race, four numbers will be drawn for finishing positions 5-24 and each of those spots will receive a total of $1,000. There will also be a $500 hard charger award in these two classes. Restad IMCA Modified Memorial slated Saturday at Siskiyou

YREKA, Calif. – IMCA Modifieds race for $2,000 to win, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods for a top prize of $1,000 at Siskiyou Motor Speedway’s Saturday, Sept. 23 Rod Restad Memorial. The Modified feature is a qualifying event for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. The $100 entry fee for Modifieds and $85 for Northern SportMods includes car and driver. All applicable IMCA points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 3 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Spectator admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and veterans, $7 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. With Saturday’s fifth annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship event set to bring the cur­tains down on 2017 DCRP title chases, this year is no exception with 208 drivers having already competed in at least one round of racing action. Whole Lotta Cash at stake in Aug. 2-5 IMCA Modified features 

ALTA, Iowa – Four $1,000 to win IMCA Modified events in as many nights are on Race For The Dash and a Whole Lotta Cash cards in early August. Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying fea­tures are scheduled Wednesday, Aug. 2 at Buena Vista Raceway in Alta; Thursday, Aug. 3 at Kossuth County Speedway in Algona; Friday, Aug. 4 at Crawford County Speedway in Denison; and Saturday, Aug. 5 at Shelby County Speedway in Harlan. The Algona show is during the county fair; BVR, Craw­ford County and Shelby County events are also Dash at the Clash qualifiers for the Aug. 8 Harris Clash at Hamil­ton County Speedway. Lawn seating available for Driver Appreciation Night at Dodge City 

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – All of southwest Kansas and beyond is abuzz about this Friday’s “Driver Appreciation Night” event at Dodge City Raceway Park. With drivers doling out tickets to the event to enhance their chances at landing the bigger prizes that will be awarded during the evening, a capacity crowd is expected to fill the grandstands and possibly then some. To accommodate the crowd, the grassy area to the north of the grandstand seating area will be available to use for lawn chair seating on Friday night. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to en­sure a good seat in the grandstands or to bring a lawn chair to set up a comfortable vantage point to take in the night’s racing action that includes the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. BRITT, Iowa – Hancock County Speedway hosts the $1,000 to win Friday, July 7 IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock Showdown. A minimum of $100 will be paid to start and all other regular weekly divisions will be on the program. The Showdown will be broadcast on IMCATV. Dodge City title chases hit the midway point this Saturday 

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – The state-of-the-art Dodge City Raceway Park will reach the midway point of the 2017 racing season with a full card of championship chase action this Saturday night, July 1. Saturday’s action that fires off at 7:30 p.m. featuring the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars along with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Thus far, huge fields of cars have been the norm on nights in which all five featured championship chase divisions have been in action with an average of more than 100 cars per night. Tickets for Saturday’s championship chase action are $15 for adults with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. The 2017 season at Dodge City Raceway Park consists of 14 total nights of scheduled racing action, culminating with the Boot Hill Showdown on Oct. 27-28.

SPENCER, Iowa – One thousand dollars is the top prize for both IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks at Clay County Fair Speedway’s June 26 Monday Night Madness special. The Modified feature is a qualifier for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods complete the card, running for $500 to win. All IMCA points, including track, will be awarded and there is no entry fee in any division. The Hobby Stock feature is the first of four Summer Speedweek events at area tracks.
