Coming up in May at Dodge City Raceway Park 

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – The 2016 racing season at Dodge City Raceway Park is in full swing with the initial three nights of the season logged into the books during the month of April. With the page of the calendar, attention shifts to the month of May that features a pair of big events atop the 3/8-mile DCRP clay oval in Southwest Kansas. The initial event of May takes place this Saturday night, May 7, with the initial appearance of the NCRA/Gomuddy.com NSL 360 Sprint Cars along with a full card of Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Rounding out the month of May will be the Saturday, May 21, round of championship chase ac­tion featuring all five track divisions of Precise Racing Products Sprint Cars, plus the four IMCA sanctioned divisions. Seymour Raceway Park adjusts schedule 

SEYMOUR, Wis. – Prior to their April 26 meeting, Seymour Raceway Park officials met to discuss the test and tune session scheduled for this Sunday, May 1. With the recent rain and now cold temperatures, quality track prep time is in short supply so the decision was made to cancel this Sunday’s test and tune at Seymour. Work will continue to get the new clay surface in shape for the scheduled test and tune set for Sunday, May 8. There will be another session on Wednesday, May 11, starting at 5 p.m. The season opener is Sunday, May 15. Chamber of Commerce Night is Saturday at Cottage Grove 

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – After last week’s disappointing rainout, Cottage Grove Speedway gets back to racing this Saturday, April 30 with Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Night. All current Chamber members get into the races for $5. Classes in action include the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, Clark Printing Extreme Sprints, Street Stocks and Quality RV Repair Hornets. Sanctioned Modifieds have competed at the ¼-mile clay oval twice in 2016. Collen Winebarger was victorious in the season opener and the most recent driver to enter the winner’s circle was Craig Hanson after an exciting late race pass.  The IMCA SportMods have only been on hand once and that was when Jorddon Braaten took care of business and pulled off a clean sweep. El Paso County Raceway gears up for busy 2016

By Ben Deatherage CALHAN, Colo. ­– Race fans, get ready for the non-stop action and hear the engines roar at El Paso County Raceway. This ¼-mile clay oval, located conveniently off of Highway 24 in the town of Calhan, offers fourteen races from April to September. It is most definitely the destination for Saturday night racing in the central Colorado region. Davenport Speedway season opener set for Friday

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The battle for 2016 track championships will begin this Friday, April 22, with the Davenport Speedway season opener. All four weekly classes, Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Models, Eriksen IMCA Modi­fieds, Koehler Electric Street Stocks and the Hawkeye Auto IMCA Northern SportMods, will be in action on the 1/4-mile dirt oval. The weekly classes will be joined this Friday by the 4-Stock divi­sion. The defending track champions at the Davenport Speedway are: Late Model, Justin Kay; Modi­fied, Bruce Hanford; Northern SportMod, Tony Olson; Street Stock, Perry Gellerstedt; and 4-Stock, Brandon Dahl. $10 admission special this Saturday at Cottage Grove 

By Ben Deathrage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – After a grand slam opening night to mark the 60th race season on April 9, Cottage Grove Speedway looks forward to its next event this Saturday, April 16.  The histori­cal ¼-mile clay oval will offer a special $10 grandstand admission for fans ages 13 and up. Classes in action include the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, Clark Printing Extreme Sprints and Quality RV Repair Hornets. The event will be the first time to see the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints and IMCA SportMods in action as the other two divisions participated in last week’s action. Collen Winebarger opened up his winning account in the IMCA Modifieds while K.C. Sabine sets six Saturday shows for IMCA Sprints

MANY, La. – Sabine Motor Speedway will crown the first-ever IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car track champion in Louisiana this season. Six race dates are scheduled in 2016 for the winged division on the quarter-mile clay oval at Many. Koty Adams was the opening night winner on March 19. Sabine had previously hosted RaceSaver tour events, most recently the Louisiana Bayou Sprint Series. “Our fans like Sprint Cars and a couple drivers talked to me and asked if I would be interested in getting an IMCA sanction,” promoter William Isgitt said. “I thought it would be good for them and for me. The division is economical. Cottage Grove opener is Saturday, first 60 fans get in free

This year marks the 60th year of action at the historic ¼-mile clay oval and a special promotion will be offered for fans. The first 60 people in line when the front gates open at 4 p.m. will get into the race for free. CSP returns to action this Saturday 

By Lonnie Wheatley PEORIA, Ariz. – The battles continue at Canyon Speedway Park on Saturday night, April 2 with Arizona Differential IMCA Modifieds headlining a full card of racing action atop the 1/3-mile clay oval. Along with the IMCA Modifieds, Saturday’s tilt that goes green at 7 p.m. will also feature the Allscapes IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars vs. SCRA Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks vs. Renegades. The CSP points race for the IMCA Modifieds is a tight one in the early going with only eight points sepa­rating the top five thus far. Zack Madrid holds a scant three-point edge over Mike Strobl go­ing into Saturday’s action with Bubba Stafford, Steve Stultz and Guy Norton among the early top five. MORTON, Minn. (March 19) ­– More than 300 people attended Saturday’s 2015 Arlington Raceway awards banquet, held at the Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel in Morton.
