Idaho Falls Raceway re-opens with IMCA Modifieds, SportMods on eight race nights 

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho – The first IMCA Modified track champion crowned at Idaho Falls Raceway will be in charge again when the track re-opens in May. Josh Dingman has started his third stint as president of the Snake River Stock Car Association. The 30-member SRSCA reorganized and spearheaded efforts to rebuild the municipally-owned facility, which closed following the 2011 season. Both IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and IMCA SportMods run on eight nights, with the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season opener set for Saturday, May 16. Other dates are June 20 and 27, July 24 and 25, Aug. 8 and 29, and Sept. 26. More than 150 truckloads of dirt have already been added to the 3/8-mile racing surface. New walls have been put in place in both sets of turns and attention will next turn to bringing the pit area up to date. Trevor Egbert scores anniversary win at Cotton Bowl

Hallas PAIGE, Texas (March 28) – Trevor Egbert took home the hardware for his anniversary present to his wife in the Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod feature Saturday at Cotton Bowl Speedway. He was trailed to the checkers by his father George, who is celebrating his 40th year of racing. Egbert got by Sid Kiphen near halfway then put some distance on the pack. A late-race caution set up a green, white, checkered finish that saw George Egbert get by Kiphen for second and finish as runner-up. “I just followed my dad through traffic,” commented Egbert. “My car was a little better than his and I just ran where others weren’t. Cottage Grove set for April 4 season opener

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – Cottage Grove Speedway is set for its 59th season of racing this Saturday, April 4, bringing another year of clay shedding excitement. The famed 1/4-mile clay oval had a very successful test and tune session this past Sunday with many new drivers who plan on running CGS in 2015.  Classes on tap will include the always-popular IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, 360 sprints, latem, and the Quality RV Repair hornets. Work on track surface already has race fans coming to watch at Lincoln County

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – New promoter Wade Hill can tell that Lincoln County Raceway fans are ready to get the new season started. Opening night isn’t until April 11 at North Platte but folks have already been showing up to watch Hill and his crew at work on the 3/8-mile dirt oval. “We hauled in more than 300 semi loads of dirt during the off-season and increased the banking all the way around. I think it looks like a completely new track,” he said. “I’ve already had cars come out on three nights and turn practice laps for me and the drivers liked it. Elk City is latest Oklahoma track to sanction with IMCA

ELK CITY, Okla. – A dozen Sunday shows are on the schedule this season at newly-sanctioned Elk City Speedway. First track points for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars at the western Oklahoma venue will be awarded April 12. “We want to keep this track open and help spread IMCA across Oklahoma,” explained promoter Paul Vines. The municipally owned 3/8-mile clay venue is a sister track to Outlaw Motor Speedway, which will run on Fridays, and Longdale Speedway, which will run on Saturdays. Elk City concludes its first IMCA season with the Winter Nationals special on Oct. 30-31. Five race nights are on the schedule for each of three local classes at Elk City, where expansion plans are already in the works for 2016. Sheridan Speedway writes new racing chapter with IMCA Modified sanction

SHERIDAN, Wyo. – After nine years, new numbers will be written on the lineup board at Sheridan Speedway. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds will headline Friday shows at Sheridan this season. The 3/8-mile dirt oval had been idle since 2006 and car numbers were still visible on the infield whiteboard when cleanup and renovation work got underway. “I had raced there myself and it always sparked my interest to own my own track,” said Craig Draper, who purchased the speedway last December. “We’re revamping the entire facility. We have built all-new concessions and grandstand seating. This is an outstanding track.” Spectator parking will be expanded and an overflow area for the pits is in the works. IMCA Modifieds delivering something different for River Cities Speedway fans

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Promoters at River Cities Speedway were looking for a new class of race car to bring to Grand Forks this summer Their interest sparked by officials from neighboring tracks, they decided on the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. The sanctioned division headlines Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 shows during the Grand Forks County Fair. New promoter Kappmeyer bringing new ideas, events to Santa Maria Raceway

SANTA MARIA, Calif. – Second-generation racer Mike Kappmeyer takes over as promoter at his home track this season. Kappmeyer takes charge at Santa Maria Raceway, where IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds return and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are new to regular Saturday programs. Opening night on the 1/3-mile dirt oval is April 11. “The IMCA cars are fun divisions. My grandson (Christian Copley) drove one and I owned one,” said Kappmeyer, a former off-road competitor. “IMCA has been around for a while and they’re a good sanctioning body. New promoter adding to, checking off his to-do list at Boone County Raceway

ALBION, Neb. – Ron Sutton has been busy adding to and checking off the to-do list since taking over as promoter at Boone County Raceway. Five IMCA divisions are on Friday night programs at Albion. Opening night at the 3/8-mile clay oval is April 24. “We’re putting up a new catch fence off turns three and four. PASSCAR opens 20th season Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway

PERRIS, Calif. – After a successful 20th anniversary season opener for sprint cars at Perris Auto Speedway last Saturday night, the Riverside County clay oval will kick off the 20th anniversary PASSCAR season this Saturday, March 14. Saturday’s show will feature Super Stocks, Street Stocks, American Factory Stocks and the highly anticipated return of the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. Saturday’s race will be the first IMCA sanctioned Modified race at The PAS since 2005. Since 2007, the track started sanctioning the class under the PASSCAR banner. At the urging of racers, sanctioning for the division is reverting back to IMCA in 2015. The track has had an increase in the size of the fields for the Modifieds the past few years and going back to IMCA should draw even more cars.
