Snellenberger, Cota collect wins at Seymour Speedway

SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 3) – Racing resumed at Seymour Speedway following a week off for the Outagamie County Fair, and the Budweiser sponsored program produced three first-time winners and a pair of repeat feature winners Sunday night. The Coors Light IMCA Stock Cars put their feature on the track first with Travis Springstroh taking the lead on lap 2 from Larry Parshen. Current point leader Rod Snellenberger quickly moved from mid-pack to the front and powered into the lead on lap five. Snellenberger pulled away over the final half of the race to pick up his second win of the season and 197th of his career. Kyle Frederick, Travis Van Straten, Jeremy Wiitala and Travis Springstroh completed the top five. Bill Edler set the pace for the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main for most of the first half of the race until Beau Handschke took the lead on lap nine. Mielkes double up at Riviera Raceway

(Aug. 2) – After Lance Mielke received the checkered flag in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature at Riviera Raceway, the pressure was on Tejay Mielke to duplicate the accomplishment in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock division. “Lance is my brother,” Tejay said. “I’ve got two brothers who race Sport Compacts, and Lance came out of the B feature and won and put the pressure on me. I had to come through. This is the first time that two of us have won on the same night. It’s awesome.” Tejay’s win, his third of the season at Riviera, began with a starting position near the back of the pack, but he made his way to the front during the early laps of the race. Savage, Klingele and Becerra take Quincy wins

(Aug. 3) – Gordy Gundaker, Steven Delonjay, Brandon Savage, Tanner Klingele and Austen Bercerra all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceway on during Kohl Wholesale Night at the Races. Brandon Savage scored the Powder Coat Plus IMCA Stock Car main event win after slipping past a crash on lap eight that eliminated the top two runners. Savage held back Terry Houston to take the win with Jake Powers in third, Abe Huls in fourth and Jim Lynch in fifth. Huls and Savage were the heat race winners. Tanner Klingele picked up his first Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA Northern SportMod feature event win after using an incredible move on a lap three restart. Klingele fended off the challenges of Joey Gower to claim the win with Gower in second, Brandon Lennox in third, Tony Dunker in fourth and Bobby Anders in fifth. Mother Nature shortens show at RPM Speedway

By Mike Hughes HAYS, KS (Aug. 2) – RPM Speedway officials had to shorten the racing program Saturday evening, August 2, when a continuous drizzle and lightning forced officials to cancel the IMCA Stock Car and Modified features. Those two features will be made up at the next race program on Saturday, August 16. Austin Walker led all 20 laps en route to his first Golden Plains Trucking IMCA Northern SportMod feature win at Hays, his second victory of the week after his feature win at Wakeeney the previous Sunday. Several caution flags kept the field close, but Walker was up to the challenge and drove off for the trip to victory lane. Clay Money finished second, followed by Daniel Gottschalk, Blaine Walt, and point leader Tyler Frye. Heat race winners were Walt, Walker and Frye. Garrett Hager won his third Rebel Tank Service IMCA Hobby Stock feature at his hometown track. Krogmeier, Roberts and Hill get first wins of the season at 34 Raceway

By Dana Royer BURLINGTON, Iowa (Aug. 2) – The 34 Raceway pits were packed Saturday for the night’s competition on the 3/8-mile oval. Three racers got their first wins this year when Chad Krogmeier, got his first career IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win, Kyle Hill raced to his first Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod win of the year and Bill Roberts Jr. got his first win of the year in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature. Krogmeier scored the win in the flag-to-flag 20-lap Stock Car feature. Krogmeier took the lead from his front row start and had to work to hold off Dane Fenton, Jake Wenig, John Oliver, Ray Raker, Tom Bowling and Shane Watts. Krogmeier, in his second year in the division, scored the victory ahead of Fenton, Wenig, Oliver and Bowling. New faces visit winner’s circle at Thunder Hill Speedway

By Larry Lowrey Jr. MZAYETTA, Kan. (Aug. 2) – Everyone loves to see a new winner every now and then and fans of Thunder Hill Speedway almost got to see a new winner in every division Saturday night. In the Bad Boyz Bail Bonds IMCA Hobby Stock feature it looked as if Patrick Thyfault was going to run away with the win. Thyfault took the upper hand early, but as the laps wore down it was evident that lapped traffic was going to play a role in the finish. While Thyfault was out front, Tyler Garst was working his way forward after starting eighth. Lap after lap, Garst ate into Thyfault’s lead and made up some time with the aid of lapped traffic. Once past the lapped cars, the leaders went side-by-side until Garst took the lead heading into turn three on the last lap. Garst sprinted to his first victory of the year becoming the fifth different Hobby Stock winner this season. Thyfault ran second ahead of Jalen Wettengel, Dominic Thyfault and Dalton Ronnebaum. Menk, Porter among new winners at Arlington Raceway

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 2) – There were new winners in victory lane for the UFC Sibley County Fair races Saturday night at Arlington Raceway. Dan Menk won his first feature of the year in the MN 93 IMCA Modified class by taking over the lead on the 13th lap from Billy Johnson. Johnson led at the start, but settled for third at the stripe. Tyler Limoges was closing the gap late on Menk, but ran out of time and took second. Kyren Porter won her first feature of the year in the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact division by leading the entire distance in that event. Eric Ladner worked from an eighth place start but was unable to reel in Porter and settled for second. Nate Coopman rallied from an early spin to finish third. Newcomer Justin Luinenburg started 12th in the 22-car field in the Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stocks and took the lead lap seven. Wren is latest Modified winner at Hancock County

By Greg Grabianowski BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 1) – Minnesotan Jerry Wren became the 13th different IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified driver to win a feature at Hancock County Speedway this season. Wren started outside of the second row before moving to the front of the pack to take the double checkered flags. Levi Nielsen was the runner-up with Kevin Stoa third. Kyle Schmauss was the 10th different IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock driver to find victory lane at Britt in 2014. Cody Frerichs and Jeremy Olson started on the front row of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature field but when the dust settled Calvin Lange captured his second local win of the season from the eighth staring spot. Ryan Hiscocks earned his second local Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod victory of the year. Megan Lappegard won the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature at Hancock County for the fourth time this season.

Cordes, Zwanziger win thrillers at Independence

By Ryan Clark INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (Aug. 2) – Troy Cordes and Alex Zwanziger both stood in victory lane Saturday night at Independence Motor Speedway – and they got there in different, yet equally thrilling ways. Cordes, who earned his third win of the year in the Performance Bodies IMCA Modified feature, chased down leader Adam Johnson for a late pass on his way to victory. Zwanziger took advantage of a late restart and topped a three-car battle to earn his first win of the season in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. Brennen Chipp held the early lead in the 20-lapper for the Modifieds while Johnson challenged to his outside. Johnson took the lead following the race’s only caution on lap three and quickly extended his advantage. Long stays perfect on the weekend

By Greg Aregoni FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (Aug. 2) – The 141 Speedway track rookie of the year title is locked up for Josh Long. The only things left are to start knocking off feature wins and a possible champion­ship run. Long earned his second feature win of the weekend with Saturday’s IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified victory at Francis Creek. Randy Markwardt opened as the leader. Jay Matthias jumped all over the leader and up front on lap two and set the pace over the next four laps until point leader Johnny Whitman encountered problems and brought out the only caution of the race. Long jumped up to the front of the field along with Shawn Kilgore who had started deep in the field. Long emerged as the man to beat as he grabbed the lead on Matthias on lap 12 down-low.
