Money cashes in at Salina

By Larry Lowrey Jr. SALINA, Kan. (June 20) – Some nights you’ve got it and Friday night Clay Money had it in the M&H Motors IMCA Northern SportMod feature at Salina Speedway. Starting from the fifth row, Money knew it would be tough to get to the front of the field but it wouldn’t be impossible. Money has had some strong finishes this season at Salina but victory lane had eluded him so far in 2014. Jacob Crowell and Chris Humphries led the field to the green. Money was quickly clicking them off one by one until he hit the front of the pack. Once at the front he would not be denied, racing to his first win at Salina in 2014. Point leader Austin Carter finished second after starting 11th and Daniel Gottschalk went from 10th to third. Clay Sellard picked up the opening night win in the Belleville Motorsports IMCA Modified class at Salina. Since then he has been strong, but he hasn’t been back to victory lane. Willamette mid-season championship night honors to go Shank

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. (June 21) – Mid-season championship night checkers flew Saturday at Willamette Speedway for Jeremy Shank. Collen Winebarger took care of business in the first half of the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modi­fied main event. However, Winebarger found himself holding off several challengers for the top spot. Shank found a way around Winebarger to get the lead and earn his second win of the 2014 cam­paign.

Wauge collects third Cottage Grove checkers of season

(June 21) – Mark Wauge was the third and final leader in Saturday’s IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified headliner on Fan Appreciation Night at Cottage Grove Speed­way. The checkers were his second straight and third of the season at Cottage Grove. Kreg Britton inherited the lead after early frontrunner Curtis Towns pulled off on lap eight under yellow with a flat tire. Britton kept all challengers at bay until getting passed on lap 18 by Wauge. Wauge maintained the lead the remainder of the distance. Mark Carrell was second and Britton ended in third.

Fourth straight for Grabouski at Thunder Hill

By Larry Lowery Jr. MAYETTA, Kan. (June 21) – Jordan Grabouski logged his fourth straight win at Thunder Hill on Saturday in the BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modified division. It wasn’t as easy as it might have seemed, though. Grabouski started seventh and quickly worked his way to the front while Jeff Jones and Danny Holt were doing so from even deeper in the field. Jones started 11th and Holt started 19th. Late in the race a few yellows would give the Jones and Holt the break they needed to run up on Grabouski. Jones would have the best shot as he pulled up to Grabouski’s back bumper in the final corner but just couldn’t muster enough momentum to get by. In post-race tech, Jones was disqualified and Holt took over the second spot. The Heinen Repair Service IMCA Stock Car feature showed the fans a high car count on the sea­son of 17 and a solid first-time performance from Jason Wilkinson, who took home the win after starting 10th. Smith brothers are triple winners at Algona

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 21) – Daniel, David and Dustin Smith of the Smith brothers racing family each won a feature to highlight a night of dirt track racing at Algona Raceway on Saturday. Daniel was the first of the siblings to capture a victory as he won the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock race after starting on the outside of the first row. He grabbed the lead early and only a pair of caution flags delayed his trip into the winners’ circle. For the fourth time this season at Algona Raceway, David Smith captured the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Smith patiently watched David and Bruce Wickman lead early he as came from the inside of the fourth row. Sunset fans appreciate Lockwood’s winning efforts

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. (June 21) – Doug Lockwood started deep in the field but finished at the front in front of a packed house for Saturday’s Fan Appreciation Night at Sunset Speedway Park. Don Jenner set the pace early before being passed by Matt Jenner on lap 13. Jenner gave up the front spot to Lockwood on the 23rd circuit. Lockwood retain the lead for the final laps of the caution-free main event to win his second local feature of the season. Robert Jenner crossed the wire in second followed by Rob Ireland, Don Jenner and Jeremy Martin.

Newberry tops Northern SportMod feature at 34 Raceway

By Dana Royer WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (June 21) –Creston Williams held off Bobby Anders to get his first win in the Casebine Credit Union IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature Saturday at 34 Raceway. Williams led the 12-car field until a caution flag came out on lap 13. The ensuing restart allowed Sean Wyett and Anders a chance at the lead but Williams was able to hold on. On the white flag lap, another caution came out setting up a green, white checkered finish and a battle for the win. Anders took a shot at the leader, pulling alongside but couldn’t hold his position with Williams pulling ahead and holding on for the win. Fourteen Ryner Transportation IMCA Modifieds set the field for their twenty lap feature with Larry McConnell and Dugan Thye on the front row. Van Ooyen returns to victory lane at Seymour

By Dave Panske SEYMOUR, Wis. (June 22) – Chas Van Ooyen Jr. won his first Coors Light IMCA Stock Car fea­ture at Seymour Speedway since Aug. 2 of 2009 Sunday night. Jake Lunderby led the opening lap Van Ooyen taking over the top spot on lap two. Rod Snellen­berger moved into third on lap third and moved right behind the leader. Van Ooyen was hooked up in the second groove and Snellenberger was hugging the inside line. Barry Van Straten moved into third and made a three-car run for the lead through the first half of the race. By then, Van Ooyen and Snellenberger had started to pull away from the pack in a side-by-side battle that continued to the finish of the non-stop race. Snellenberger would charge up to the door several times over the last half of the race but each time, Van Ooyen had the answer on the outside. Aug. 1 is deadline for sign-up forms, car photos

VINTON, Iowa – Fri­day, Aug. 1 is the final date for submission of contin­gency sign-up forms, rookie of the year applica­tions and car photos proving required decal placement. IMCA drivers who don’t meet that deadline are not eligi­ble for post-sea­son cash and product awards. The rookie application is published in the newslet­ter and is posted online. Sign-up forms were included in decal packets. Drivers who need sign-up forms or another set of decals can contact IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder at 319 472-2201 or kyoder@imca.com. Car photos can be emailed to the same ad­dress. “I prefer that photos show the entire car, not just the decals on the door panel,” Yoder said. “That way we can use photos for Sybesma Graphics Face­book Fan Favorite contest as well.”
