By Ben Deatherage KENNEDALE, Texas (Mar. 22, 2025) — Matthew Day struck pay dirt at Kennedale Speedway Park, winning the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature after a thrilling late-race battle. The 2021 National IMCA Southern SportMod champion surged to the lead in the closing laps to collect his first victory of the 2025 campaign in the division’s first appearance at the ¼-mile oval. The 20-lap main event began with 2013 IMCA National Modified champion William Gould setting the pace. He held steady through two early cautions, but things changed quickly after a lap-nine restart. Jake Upchurch, a three-time KSP IMCA SportMod track champion, used the high side to rocket from fifth to second and began challenging Gould. The 22-year-old Fort Worth native was both emotional and elated in victory lane after achieving the milestone victory. Starting from the front row, Ramey held off defending track champion Claud Estes III at the drop of the green. As Estes battled Jeb Sessums for second, Ramey built a solid lead — one that vanished in lapped traffic by lap 6, allowing both challengers to close in. Sessums, wheeling the Taco Casa Racing entry, made a bold three-wide move on the leaders in turn three, but a caution negated the pass, allowing Ramey to keep the top spot. The Baypoint racer claimed the lead in the second half of the 20-lap feature and cruised to his first win of the 2025 season. The race began with 2022 Marysville track champion Jimmy Ford setting the pace out front. Ford looked strong early, fending off pressure from both Jace Wright and two-time California State champion Trevor Clymens. Clymens nearly made a stunning double overtake on lap 8 but was forced back to third when a caution halted his momentum. On the ensuing restart, Wright tried to dive underneath Ford for the lead but came up short. That allowed Wagner to close in. When Wright bobbled slightly on lap 10, Wagner slipped by into second. Brown Blasts to Victory in MASS Opener at Bridgeport

By Ben Deatheage SWEDESBORO, N.J. (Mar. 21, 2025) — Dave Brown kicked off the 2025 Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series season with a flag-to-flag victory in the 25-lap feature at Bridgeport Speedway. The race featured some of the best RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars in the region. The Pilesgrove pilot took the lead at the drop of the green and never, despite heavy lapped traffic and mid-race cautions on the 4/10-mile “Kingdom of Speed.” Troy Betts and Aidan Borden battled for second early, giving Brown the breathing room to build a large gap. Lapped traffic came into play by lap four, forcing Brown to make aggressive moves to maintain the top spot. A series of cautions near the halfway point regrouped the field. On the final restart with 13 laps to go, Betts briefly got by Brown, but Brown quickly countered to retake the lead from the Delaware driver at the line. By Ben Deatherage ELM MOTT, Texas (Mar. 7, 2025) — Kyle Wilkins dominated the Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMods feature at Heart O’ Texas Speedway, securing the victory on the opening night of the Jack Bagby Memorial. The race was highly competitive with lots of jockeying of position throughout the field. Jeff Bauser Jr. initially took the lead following a battle for the top spot. Wilkins, from the town of Italy quickly began applying pressure but struggled to find a clear path. On lap 3, the automobilista threaded the needle to take the lead, but a red flag for a flipped car negated the pass, restoring Bauser to the top spot. When racing resumed, Wilkins was relentless. The 2012 IMCA Super Nationals champion fended off the six-time and defending South Central Region titleholder in a thrilling 20-lap main event at the 3/8-mile oval. Chris Webb led early, but Kyle Robinson quickly took over on lap 2. By lap 6, Gould charged to the front, only to have a caution negate his pass. The Tarkington pilot seized the lead shortly after a midrace restart to become the new race leader in exciting style. Mark Harris initially controlled the race, expertly navigating the inside line. On lap three, Cassidy LeJeune used the high side to build momentum and take the lead, exiting the fourth corner. A series of cautions before the halfway point allowed Townsend to move into second. Garner Claims Victory in SportMod Season Opener at Marysville

By Troy Hennig  MARYSVILLE, Calif. (Mar. 15, 2025) — Mark Garner secured the win in the 2025 Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod season opener at Marysville Raceway. Leading all 20 laps at the ¼-mile clay oval, the Antioch, California, veteran managed traffic and challenges to claim victory. Garner built a solid lead early while Jason Ryan Jr. and Jace Wright battled for second. By lap six, lapped traffic allowed Ryan to close the gap and briefly pressure Garner. A caution flag soon after gave Garner a clear track, helping him maintain control. On the restart, Wright overtook Ryan for second. Garner again encountered traffic but handled it more effectively. Late cautions provided additional clean-track opportunities, and Garner capitalized to cruise to his first win of the season. Wright stayed close but couldn’t overtake Garner, settling for second.
