Bakersfield Speedway and Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway team up for 2025 dirt racing season

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (January 25, 2025) – The 80th season of dirt track racing in Bakersfield and Kern County will be an impactful one, as Scott Schweitzer at Bakersfield Speedway along with Tim Huddleston at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway have announced an exciting partnership. Bakersfield Speedway’s 2025 operations will relocate to the one-third mile Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway Dirt Track with a full season of championship dirt track racing. Bakersfield Speedway held 79 years of dirt track racing thrills at its current home on Chester Ave. Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway at Enos Lane and I-5 opened in 2013 while its dirt track began operations in 2015. Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway combines two of California’s signature venues into one racing season. Fire destroys White’s residence

ACADEMY, Tex. (Jan. 3, 2025) – Tragedy struck the home of celebrated IMCA Champion Keith White as a fire consumed his residence of 28 years, leaving the motorsports icon and his family without a place to call home. Keith White, a name synonymous with excellence in the IMCA racing community, has built a legacy of dominance on the track. Over his illustrious career, he has garnered numerous titles, earned championship rings, and claimed the prestigious honor of national champion multiple times, including his crowning as the IMCA National Stock Car Champion in 2011 and the IMCA National Modified Champion in 2012. Moore finds new inspiration in drive to IMCA Sport Compact championships

CALHAN, Colo. (Dec. 6, 2024) – Bryan Moore dedicated his first championship winning season to his dad. This year, everything was for mom. Moore raced to 17 Mach-1 Sport Compact feature wins this season, then walked across the stage during the IMCA national banquet to accept congratulations and awards for Honor Speedway and Phillips County Raceway track, BST South Series and Colorado State championships. “It felt great, to be honest. Visitation is Saturday for STARS tech inspector Mark Parker

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Nov. 30, 2024) – Mark Steven Parker, aged 65, died on Nov. 30 surrounded by his family. From Memphis, Tenn., Parker was a motorsports enthusiast in the Mid-South and could be found at the race track every weekend. From his beginnings racing micros to becoming the tech inspector for the Mod Lites of Arkansas and later an official and tech inspector for the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites when that division was first sanctioned by IMCA in 2021. He was the first Mod Lite tech inspector from Arkansas when the division debuted at the 2021 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Visitation will be this Saturday, Dec. 7, from 3-5 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis Ark. VINTON, Iowa (Nov. 4, 2024)  – Eight more IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers will contend for the 2025 B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational crown. Zane DeVilbiss earned an automatic berth in that event with his $10,000 checkers at Batesville Motor Speedway’s Schoenfeld Headers Mid-America IMCA Stock Car Championship. Jeff Larson won twice during the Fall Bash at Cedar County Raceway while Dallon Murty’s night two win at Tipton proved to be his first of three qualifying victories during October. Jordan Grabouski swept the Octoberfest weekend at Beatrice Speedway. Visitation is Sunday for Karen Campbell

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Visitation for Karen (Yarbrough) Campbell, 68, of Clarksville, Tenn., will be Sunday, Nov. 3 from 1-4 p.m. at the Sykes Funeral Home.  The wife of Tennessee Mod Lite Racing Association Director Eddie Campbell, she passed away on Oct. 24, 2024. Karen was a loving wife, dedicated mother and wonderful Mimi. She retired as a mail carrier from the United States Postal Service. Karen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, reading books, going to the races and jewelry shopping. In addition to her husband of 35 years Eddie, she is survived by children Alicia Carroll (Jimmy Lindsey) and Jeremy Killebrew; grandchildren Courtney Carroll, Alissa Carroll, Brandon Carroll, Clayton Killebrew, Ethan Killebrew, Nicholas Killebrew, Abbie-Lynn Killebrew, and Jaiden Davis; and great-grandchildren Annistan Carroll, Grayson Killebrew and Cooper Killebrew; and siblings Paula (Donald) Stewart and David Yarbrough. Iowa Dirt Nationals set records at Maquoketa Speedway

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Oct. 17-19, 2024) – The final race of the 2024 season was held this past weekend at the Maquoketa Speedway as the Iowa Dirt Nationals were run with three near perfect weather days greeting record-setting car counts and large crowds. The action got underway on Thursday, Oct. 17with a practice session and the makeup features of the All Star Classic that was cut short back on Sept. 14 due to rain. Ethan Braaksma scored the win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature, David Brandies topped the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event, Brayton Carter raced to the win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and Eric Knutson took the win the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.  Friday was opening night of the Iowa Dirt Nationals with 206 competitors packing the infield on the Jackson County Fairgrounds. Celebration of life is Wednesday for Donnie Hix

BELLS, Texas (Oct. 15, 2024) – A celebration of life for Donnie Hix will be held Wednesday, Oct. 16 beginning at 6 p.m. at Grayson County Speedway. Hix, 38, peacefully passed away at his Bells home on Oct. 10. He won two track championships at Bells during his IMCA career, in the Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods during his 2005 rookie season and last year in the Friesen Performance Modified division. He was also the Southern SportMod Oklahoma State champion in 2008. Survivors include his wife Kelli and children Baylee and Easton; constant four legged companion Ollie; parents Tommy and Debra Hix; siblings Jessica Garza, Timmy Hix and Jay Wells; niece Faye and nephews Paxton and Parker; aunts and uncles Cheryl and Hal Hargis and Eddie and Shannon Doggett; and many cousins and loved ones including friends that were family.
