Czarapata dominates Luxemburg’s $5,000 to win show

By Greg Aregoni LUXEMBURG, Wis. (June 26) – While cousins Jason Czarapata and Brandon Czarapata have won on the same night many times before, Friday was certainly one of their mutually richer nights at the race track. Jason Czarapata bagged the $5,000 top prize at Luxemburg Speedway’s Friday night special for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds while Brandon Czarapata was the $750 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner. Jason Czarapata earned his pole position for the IMCA Modified feature by winning a six-car, eight-lap dash earlier in the evening. Front row starter and former national champion Jordan Grabouski was slated to start on the front row also but mechanical woes forced his night to be done. Mike Mullen, who topped the $10,000 to win Clash at the Creek main event at 141 Speedway the night before, moved alongside Czarapata at the drop of the green flag. Mullen quickly fell in line behind Czarapata before a lap six caution slowed the pace. Czarapata had his open motor hooked up on the glazed over track and gradually pulled away [Read More]

Clean sweeps all around at Salina Speedway

By Dusty Wiegert SALINA, Kan. (June 26) – For some racers, Friday night it was only the second or third time for their division to race due to the weather. But from the action on the track you’d of thought it was already well into the season as five first time winners for 2015 emerged. Last season, Corey Burch finally picked up his first feature win near the end of the year. This season it only took him three races to do the same in the 1st Class Chassis IMCA Modified division. Burch methodically moved from fourth to first and set sail for the checkered flag despite Brian Knoell closing in late. Knoell would have to settle for second while Jesse Richter and Joe Cleveland finished off the top four. Burch was also in for the clean sweep after he won his qualifying heat race. The Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Northern SportMod division was in for a double on the night. The first race out was the make-up feature for May 22, in which Daniel [Read More]

Dripps outruns Smith at BVR

By Steve Zwemke ALTA, Iowa (June 24) – Corey Dripps returned to Buena Vista Raceway Wednesday night and enjoyed a much more successful outing.  Dripps showed up incognito with a small, enclosed trailer as opposed to the super-sized tow rig that adorned the infield a week earlier. He started on the front row and led all 15 laps of the Mark Hansen’s Rex Chevrolet IMCA Modified feature although Dustin Smith gave him a good run for his money.  Smith trailed by not more than a couple of car lengths for most of the race as he and Dripps checked out on the rest of the field. All three of the Stock Car racing Smiths led portions of the 15-lap North Central Line Service IMCA Stock Car main event. Donavon Smith led the first four laps until Devin Smith drove past.  Devin led through lap nine before giving way to David Smith who came from the back row. The win was the third for David Smith, who continues to lead the point standings. The Pizza Ranch of [Read More]

Hunter, Irvine top mid-season at Independence Motor Speedway

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 27) – Mid-season championships were extra special for a pair of drivers Saturday night at Independence Motor Speedway. Brian Hunter and Brian Irvine earned their first trips to victory lane in their respective divisions at their hometown track. Hunter took the green flag from the third row in the 25-lap Budweiser IMCA Late Model headliner. He made his way through traffic while Greg Kastli held the early lead. Hunter reeled in the leader in a handful of laps before making his bid to the low side of Kastli on the sixth circuit. Hunter pulled away from the field and fought off the challenges of Rick Wendling in lapped traffic before the event’s only caution waved with six laps to go. On the restart, Hunter again extended his advantage while Tyler Droste battled Wendling for second. Droste broke free from Wendling as laps wound down, however Hunter raced to the checkers and his first Independence win. Irvine, a first-year Performance Bodies IMCA Modified driver, had been close to that elusive first win throughout [Read More]
