Rookie collects Modified checkers at Seymour

By Dave Panske SEYMOUR, Wis. (June 7) – Rookie Andy Kleczka took the lead on lap three and stayed ahead of T.J. Smith throughout a race-long duel to win his Budweiser IMCA Modified career first feature Sunday at Seymour Speedway. Smith remained relentless on the higher line but couldn’t shake Kleczka. Benji LaCrosse took over third after halfway. Chas Van Ooyen notched his first local Coors Light IMCA Stock Car win of 2015, two car lengths ahead of Rod Snellenberger. Third was Travis Van Straten. As the white flag was displayed in the O’Reilly Auto Parts IMCA Northern SportMod main event, Chris Budzban moved inside leader Lucas Lamberies and the pair made contact in turn two, with Lamberies getting sideway and spinning. Thornton sizzles at Canyon

(June 6) – The Summer Sizzle lived up to its moniker Saturday night at Canyon Speedway Park with Ricky Thornton, Jr., coming away with a hard-fought win in 9th World Vapor IMCA Modified action. Thornton rallied from the 11th starting position as pole starter Joey Moriarty led the way.  Moriarty fought off Thornton for more than half the race before surrendering the point. Thornton went on to the checkered flag ahead of Moriarty with Garrett Funk, George Fronsman and John Parmeley rounding out the top five.

Deery Series, Hawkeye Dirt Tour share June 9 spotlight at Jackson County 

MAQUOKETA, Iowa – Two of IMCA’s premier series are in action next Tuesday at Jackson County Speedway. Both the Deery Brothers Summer Series for Late Models and the Hawkeye Dirt Tour for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds travel to Maquoketa on June 9. Deery drivers make their seventh start of the season. Their main event pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. The second installment of the Hawkeye Dirt Tour totes a $1,000 top prize, is a 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier and pays a minimum of $150 to start. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow. Donor Network, Urbana 5 Night this Sunday at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa – A $1,250 top prize and a spot on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot are at stake when Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds headline the Sunday, June 14 Iowa Donor Network and Urbana 5 Memorial Night at Benton County Speedway. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks race for $750 and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both for $700. Increased payouts are in place throughout each feature field. All applicable points will be awarded. Hard charger and contingency awards will be given in all divisions. STUART, Iowa – Drivers in two IMCA divisions chase $1,000 top checks this Sunday, June 14 at Stuart Speedway. The 15th annual Ron Little/Bones Memorial for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds is a qualifying event for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars also vie for $1,000 to win in the Stu Hansen Dodge Stock Car Shootout. Hoeft wins second straight at Hancock County 

By Greg Grabianowski BRITT, Iowa (June 6) – Jesse Hoeft of Forest City won the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature for the second straight week, topping the Saturday night field at Hancock County Speed­way. Ned Kalis earned the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win by denying a serious challenge in the final laps from hard charger Elijah Zevenbergen. Heath Tulp placed third. Colby Fett became a first-time winner at Britt, taking the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod fea­ture. Hard charger Nick Meyer was second followed by Greg Sidles. Cody Nielsen won his second local IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature of the year, coming from the inside of the fifth row. Chanse Hollatz took second with Andrew Borchardt third. Devin Jones is having a good season at Britt and won his fourth local Mach-1 Sport Compact fea­ture of the year, coming from the back of the field to take the double-checkered flags first. Jay DeVries finished second and Jacob Kofoot was third.

Rothzen wins Modified feature at 34

By Dana Royer WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (June 6) – After finding his way to the front just two laps to the finish, Brandon Rothzen won his first Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature this season at 34 Race­way on Saturday night. Dean McGee took the lead from Rich Smith following a lap seven restart and had to hold off Rothzen and Jeff Waterman. Rothzen found a way past on the 18th circuit while McGee edged Waterman in the battle for third. Bobby Six led the distance in winning his first local Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main event.

Draw/redraw show June 12 at Lee County 

DONNELLSON, Iowa – A draw/redraw format will be in place for the five IMCA divisions on the Friday, June 12 program at Lee County Speedway. Lucas Oil MLRA Late Models are in Donnellson that evening, along with weekly Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m.

Friday date at I-88 next for IMCA Empire State Series 

AFTON, N.Y. (June 8) – I-88 Speedway hosts the first of consecutive IMCA Empire State Series events this Friday, June 12. Touring Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds race for $400 to win and a minimum of $75 to start their main event at Afton. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Dirt Works Eastern Region, Allstar Performance State and special series points will be given. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Spectator admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 9-14 and free for eight and under. Gary Roberts has won two of the previous four Empire State Series features at his hometown track, in 2012 and again last July. Monroeton, Pa., pilots Eddie Sites and Brad Sites took tour checkers at I-88 in 2011 and 2013, respectively. Eddie Sites is a two-time series champion and the current point leader.
