Budweiser Clydesdales Night Friday at Clay County

SPENCER, Iowa – The Budweiser Clydesdale Eight-Horse Hitch will be making a public appearance prior to a full night of IMCA racing at the Clay County Fair Speedway on Friday, May 15. The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales will make their appearance from 5-7 p.m. Hot laps begin at 6:30 p.m. with races to follow at 7 p.m. “World famous Clydesdales, high caliber IMCA racing and the Finish Line Food Court will make for a great Friday night in Spencer,” said CCF Manager Jeremy Parsons. New to the Clay County Fair Speedway this season is the Finish Line Food Court. Each Friday night, a variety of food and merchandise vendors will be set up outside the grandstand giving race fans and Spencer residents a “festival atmosphere to enjoy,” said Parsons. IMCA Modified, Northern SportMod drivers chasing Ricochet Race Component prizes

BRUSH, Colo. – Second-year sponsor Ricochet Race Components has renewed an awards program rewarding IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod drivers. Sets of three shock guard covers go to each of the five Modified regional champions, all Modified special series champions, feature winners during the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour and Hawkeye Dirt Tour, and winners of 10 designated Modified special events. The national Northern SportMod champion also receives three shock guard covers. Located in Brush, Colo., Ricochet is owned by Modified veteran John Hansen. Sunset Speedway Park hosts Armed Forces Night

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. – Sunset Speedway Park hosts Armed Forces Night on Saturday, May 16. The regular military discount of $10 for grandstand admission has been reduced to $5. The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds will look for either the first repeat winner of the season or the fourth different winner in as many races. Collen Winebarger, Mark Carrell and last week’s winner Jeff Lovell are all 2015 SSP drivers to grace victory lane. The feature pays $650 to win. Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and the front gate opens at 4 p.m. Racing starts at 6:30 p.m.

Idaho Falls re-opens with inaugural Dirt Wars special

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho – Idaho Falls Raceway roars back to life with the inaugural Dirt Wars special on Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified features both nights pay $1,000 to win and are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events. Top prize in the IMCA SportMod features is $750. All applicable IMCA will be awarded each evening. Pit gates open at noon and the grandstand opens at 3 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. both days. Grandstand admission for the weekend is $12 for adults, $5 for kids and free for three and under. Modified entry fee is $50 each night and pit passes are $15. Racing action will alternate with a truck pull, to be held behind the adjoining go-kart track. Community Sharing Night is Saturday at Cottage Grove

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – Cottage Grove Speedway will be back in action on Saturday, May 16 for Community Sharing Night. Fans bringing a can of non-perishable food will receive a $2 discount at the admission booth. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are both on the weekend card. Three races have produced as many different winners in the Modified ranks. Jesse Williamson, Braedon Hand and Kinzer Cox have each scored one win thus far. Gene Ashley won the one previous feature event held for Northern SportMods. Pit gates open at 2 p.m., the front gate opens at 4 p.m., qualifying is at 5:30 p.m. and racing begins at approximately 6:45 p.m.

Loscheider leads the way at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 9) – Brian Loscheider found victory lane in the Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stocks on the 35th opening night at Arlington Raceway. Loscheider led from start to finish, holding off hard-charging Cory Probst for the checkers. A pair of IMCA defending national champions topped Saturday features. Matt Looft turned away every challenge from Eric Larson in winning the Unhinged Pizza Northern SportMod main event. Nate Coopman drew the pole and finished first with Scott Porter close behind in the Coors Light Sport Compacts. The B&B Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature was a thriller as Andy Altenburg and Dan Mackenthun battled throughout the race. At the checkered flag, Altenburg had the lead by inches to win his first feature at Arlington. Michael Stien led every lap of the 95.7 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature. Brandon Beckendorf worked his way around the fast MN 93 IMCA Modified field and won ahead of Clint Hatlestad. A total of 111 cars were on hand for the season opener at Arlington.

Prauner picks up three wins at Off Road Speedway

The result was a rare opportunity for racers to secure multiple wins and Kyle Prauner took full advantage by completing a ‘hat trick’ of victories, finishing first in the make-up of last week’s Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature before adding wins in week two’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and the SportMod features. “It doesn’t happen very often, but not a lot of guys have two cars going,” Prauner said. “We’ve just got both cars humming right along so far. Guillion flies fastest at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (May 9) – Adam Guillion kept Trevor Grossenbacher at bay to win Saturday’s Precise Racing IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature at Eagle Raceway. Doug Lovegrove and Terry Richards rounded out the top four finishers. Mike Densberger dominated for his first local Kaplan University IMCA Modified victory of the season. Trent Roth made the most of a lap 11 restart in gaining the lead and eventual NAPA IMCA Northern SportMod feature victory. After taking over the front spot with seven laps left, Roy Armstrong held off all Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock challengers following a restart with three circuits remaining. Sophomore speedster Spencer Pavey III ruled the Sam’s Club IMCA Sport Compacts.

Thornton doubles up in CSP Mother’s Day Race for the Cure

Thornton raced from the 10th starting position in both the 9th World Vapor IMCA Modifieds and Arizona Differential Pure Stocks for victory honors. The defending track champion in the Modified ranks, Thornton made the most of his first regular season appearance of the year by rallying from the fifth row to take the checkered flag ahead of Brian Schultz, with Mike Strobl, Don Hagan and George Fronsman in the top five.
